CHAIRMAN’S LETTER

Robert N. Summers ’86 Chair, BMHS Board of Directors

Greetings to All Members of the Bishop McNamara Family,

There is always something to see at McNamara. Each time I visit, the campus is alive with activity, whether it’s practices and games on the football field, rehearsals in our Fine Arts department, or an after-school study session. Each member of this team wears multiple hats, and I commend everyone from our faculty and staff on a strong start to the 2022-2023 school year. The word that immediately comes to mind as I look ahead to the year and think of McNamara is “belong”.

Our school is a Holy Cross school. Earlier this fall I spent time with the Brothers of the Congregation of Holy Cross where we reflected on the important role the mission of our schools have in the communities we serve. Here at Bishop McNamara, our role in Prince George’s County is one of hope.

Our faculty and our students walk our halls each day filling their minds and educating their hearts, and our goal for them is to walk as a disciple with hope to bring. Whether it is providing groceries for the hungry, a space for local business owners to gather, or committing a full professional development day for our faculty to volunteer, I am proud to share that our Bishop McNamara spreads hope and belonging each and every day in our community.

This fall and into the winter, there are many opportunities for our McNamara community to come together. I ask for all members of the La Reine High School and Bishop McNamara alumni communities to not only come back and visit, but also to connect with us. One of the greatest aspects of Bishop McNamara is its incredible network - how excited everyone is to talk about it, and to come for the things they love to see: performances, competitions, award ceremonies, and how things have changed since they walked the halls of our beloved school.

Please consider supporting Bishop McNamara with your stories, your time, and your gift to the school to support our continued programming. We are always here to say hello, welcome you, and show you all the incredible things there are to see.

Thank you. I look forward to seeing you over the course of the fall and holiday season.

Respectfully,

Our Board of Directors came together earlier this year for their annual retreat. Robert N. Summers ’86
