How to Market Your Business and Make Money Using Facebook Facebook may be a powerful social media platform populated by millions of people who spend hours on it every day but there’s no way that it can support your online marketing campaign by itself and be successful. That being said, it’s essential for every business these days to have a Facebook presence because of the same reasons I just mentioned. And more than just being popular, it also has features that are designed to help out the online marketer and the small business owners, features like Facebook Insights and Demographic Targeting. Even if it can’t carry the load by itself (you need a separate standalone website and an email list), there are a lot of ways to improve revenue and to make money using Facebook. 1. To Pay or Not to Pay Notice that I didn’t mention the advantage of free marketing in the opening paragraph? That’s because Facebook has recently opened Pandora’s Box and offered paid ads in their website. The move has been met with a lot of criticism but if you’re going to be using Facebook as one of your marketing tools, you have to face facts and accept that their paid ads are here to stay. A lot of Facebook users have stated that unadvertised business and fan pages have had their traffic drop to 20%. This is pretty terrible but no one wants to break the bank marketing on Facebook either. If you want to dip your toe into Facebook paid ads, I would recommend that you stick to a $1 a day which you can set in Ad Budget Control. A thousand impressions will cost $0.25 which will give you an additional 4 000 impressions with a monthly budget of $30. 2. Facebook Insights Facebook Insights is the built-in analytics tool, a much ignored feature that is actually vital for knowing whether you’re getting impressions, how wide your reach is, and how many likes or shares you’re getting. It gives you real-time information complete with graphs. Insights is available for free after you get 30 likes. To see your page insights, click Insights at the top of your page. 3. Demographic Targeting Facebook allows you to publish to specific demographics via the admin panel which streamlines your efforts and brings you high quality traffic e.g. visitors more likely to respond to your call-to-action. If you want to make money using Facebook, you want to be sending your message to your specific target market and not just randomly posting information hoping it will reach the right people. 4. Making the Most of Posts High quality content - whether it’s in the form of articles, videos, or images - is the heart of every social media marketing campaign. But even with the best written articles or well-made videos, there’s such a thing as overdoing it. Studies show that one or two posts a day is ideal whereas three might turn people away instead of drawing them in. Six posts can actually lead to people unfollowing you or taking back their likes.

Facebook can be a very powerful marketing tool if used right and if it’s supplemented with other online marketing essentials, like an email list (I can’t stress the importance of a list enough).
