Chatham University | Master’s Thesis A well-designed campus environment projects more than just a school image. Through methods of focus groups, interviews, questionnaires, site analysis, and charettes a campus design developed providing pedestrian friendly elements. Participants included members of The Kiski School administration, staff, and students as well as landscape designers, landscape architects, and civil engineers. Some of the initial objectives included: to evaluate the placement of roads; to enhance open green space, enhance signage and wayfinding; to evaluate the parking issues; and to create a site palette for landscape design guidelines.

Burt Hill Working with the Burt Hill Healthcare Team, I typically would design a courtyard gardens as well as parking layouts. This was no different for the TUH project. Throughout the design development phase, I created the planting layout for the courtyard design and specified the plant materials.

Burt Hill Burt Hill was commissioned by the University of Dayton to conduct a master plan after the university acquired 49 acres adjacent to the campus. I had the opportunity to participate in the planning process as well as print publications of the Master Plan and the Landscape Guidelines.

Snow Waters
South Fayette, Pennsylvania Burt Hill Snow Waters was an exisitng Burt Hill project when I was approached to contribute a visual spin on stormwater details. The goal was to transition the project from the CD phase to be ready for a publication submission due to the innovative BMPs used throughout the design. I rendered the large master plan, individual areas of interest and construction details. An interactive pdf was made linking the master plan to the areas of interest and the details that coordinated with those areas.

Bloomfield Urban Thicket Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
pomme de terre The idea for the Bloomfield Bridge Greenspace was to create a transitional habitat, by name, an Urban Thicket. These areas will act as a gateway for multiple species as well as the Bloomfield community. The idea of Urban Thicket design modeled the Ecological Succession of Habitat. The process of succession occurs when plant species are introduced in a manner that creates diversity and transitional habitats. This space works as a primary succession that includes both meadow and thicket plants.
Point Breeze Residence Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
pomme de terre This Point Breeze client wanted to transform her typical urban backyard into a formal garden oasis. The concept for the space began by embracing a classical French influenced landscape that utilizes such features as crisp structural lines, symmetry, various paving textures, a prominent focal point and the creation of outdoor rooms. The garden was divided into two spaces, the entertaining room and the formal garden. The entertaining space has a herringbone area rug with adequate room for large dining as well as a seat wall. In the garden, boxwoods line the planting beds while flowers bloom within its low green borders all summer long.
