INDOOROOPILLy Brisbane on 2 May 2023, commencing at 11.00 am ECQ’s Berlasco Court was officially reopened The Honourable Anika Wells MP, Minister for Aged Care and Minister for Sport officially opened the facility.

Construction of the facility commenced in late 2020 and was completed in December 2022. The state-of-the-art facility was made possible by past and present members of ECCQ, its benefactors, volunteers, and communities and built with the generous assistance of the Australian Government.

Berlasco Aged Care offers a high standard of culturally inclusive care for residents with many from culturally and Linguistically Diverse backgrounds. Our highly competent staff speak 56 languages, allowing us to provide warm and inclusive support for our multicultural residents and their families.

Invitees to the official opening include Federal, State and Local government representatives, key multicultural community leaders, residents’ representatives and representatives from local, state and national news and media organisations.

ECCQ’s residential care unit is a fully accredited facility committed to a high standard of nursing care for residents from various cultural backgrounds.

SeRVICeS:

• Registered nurses are on duty 24 hours a day to ensure a high quality of care

• Staff speak over 56 languages allowing residents to speak their first language when needed

• Allied Health Professionals offer services when necessary at no cost

• Information provided on other health services

• Cultural calendar of activities to celebrate the resident’s CALD backgrounds

The Leisure and Lifestyle Program includes the services of a number of diversional therapists/ assistants who organise a wide range of activities, including exercises, arts & crafts, card games, music, concerts and outings to suit the interests and abilities of the residents.

The program also matches up volunteers with residents to create opportunities for social interaction that are culturally sensitive for residents.

Berlasco Court was successful in a Government application to expand its services to improve the living environment for those in our care and accommodate the growing demand on our services.

The rebuild has allowed major improvements to the lives of our residents and families. Residents can have access to the same quality of care delivered in a stunning and contemporary home setting.

The building offers diversification of accommodation options to cater for resident and families’ unique requirements.

The NeW BUILDING INCLUDeS:

115 rooms, including 107 single rooms with ensuites and 8 suites with kitchenettes.

• Additional services including wound and pain clinics and group physical therapy

• A ground floor special needs unit based on a cottage model

• Ducted air-conditioning

• A warm and inviting home environment

• Child friendly café for families to enjoy time spent together

• Resident community spaces, including access to wellness activities, library, hairdresser and beautician services

• Social spaces to accommodate fantastic programs and large scale functions

• Multi-faith chapel

• Raised garden spaces to relax in
