Modern design set in historic walls The Romantik Hotel Turm with its four towers is a place of contrasts yet somehow in perfect harmony. Here modern design is set in historic walls dating back to the 13th century, like for example the beautiful barrel vault ceiling of the Turm Stube. Incidentally, you will discover art works by Picasso and DalĂ, whilst you explore the house and you can find out what a unique atmosphere arises, when modernism meets tradition, accompanied by expressive art and love for details.
The exquisite cuisine of Pramstrahler Gourmets love our restaurant in the Turm (14 points in the Gault Millau and 3 spoons in the Aral Guide), mainly because of the down-to-earth approach and creative and genuine philosophy of the homeowner Stefan Pramstrahler and chef Mathieu Domagala: a product of the highest possible quality, with a reference to our region, has to stand in the focus. At the end of an eventful day, you can visit our wine cellar, where there can be found some true treasures, and then enjoy a romantic dinner, maybe even in the traditional Turm Stube of the 13th century. Wine stories The vineyard of the Grottnerhof represents a big challenge: with an inclination of about 50-70%, a lot of the work needs to be done by hand. Thanks to the perfect requirements of the vineyard, work done in a careful way, a lot of passion and patience und obviously also thanks to the great knowledge and experience of our winemaker Markus Prackwieser from the Gumphof, we succeed in growing and maturing our special wines. Pica, the Latin name for the magpie, gives our Pinot blanc its name; the bird’s elegance emphasizes the elegance of this wine.
Bubo bubo – the Latin name for the eagle owl, the biggest species of the owls. Stephan Pramstrahler harbors a special sympathy for eagle owls, since in the past he used to have one, as a pet.
Tetrao Tertrix, the Latin name for the black grouse, a bird that is not easily forgotten – just like our Gewürztraminer Tetrix, a wine that you will remember.
Corvus Corax, the Latin name for the raven, the symbol of the Grottnerhof. Because of their learning ability and great intelligence, the raven has since always been part of legends and myths. We chose the black raven for our special Pinot noir.
