prelude.

Since being founded in 1978, BKV Group has lived up to our mission of “enriching lives and strengthening communities” – throughout the Twin Cities and outstate area. Locally, we are described as “the best kept secret in town” – not because of praise we often preclude ourselves from, but because of the steady amount of influential work we’ve completed, and our committed focus to achieving the highest level of client satisfaction possible.

The Midwest portfolio of BKV Group goes wide and deep over the past 40 years because as one of the very few “one stop shops” in Minnesota, we uniquely leverage a holistic set of services (architecture, interior design, landscape architecture, engineering, and construction administration) to craft a depth of project experience within housing (market-rate, senior, student, affordable, creative reuse, and high-rise), government (municipal, county, state, police, fire, city hall, library, jails and courts), education, corporate, and commercial design.

Creatively, BKV Group’s design teams share knowledge across practice groups and geographies to create relevant and meaningful design solutions that allow our clients’ dreams to become a reality. Innovation and sustainability lie at the heart of what drives our company, creating notable and lasting projects.

When asked why our clients value BKV Group, they tell us:

“It’s because you really care – about us, the project and our community. It’s the passion you bring to your work every day!”

our city.

Known as the City of Lakes, The Mini Apple, and the Mill City, Minneapolis is the largest city in Minnesota, and is situated next to its capital counterpart, St. Paul, with both wrapping around the Mississippi River weaving between them. Minneapolis features 13 lakes within its borders, and spurred what was the world’s first flour milling capital, in addition to being a major hub for timber. This milling foundation gave way to companies establishing a footprint in Minneapolis, with now 19 Fortune 500 companies having a headquarters in Minneapolis, with the city also now featuring a thriving tech sector.

In being one of the fastest growing cities in the United States, Minneapolis has blossomed into a cultural hub with artful destinations such as the Walker Art Center (one of the top modern art museums in the country), and the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden (the country’s largest urban sculpture garden). Minneapolis also has one of the largest theater markets in the nation, just behind New York and Chicago. It’s a mecca for cyclists too, with the Midtown Greenway Trail being one example of what makes the city one of the nation’s most cycling-friendly urban areas.

Now at approximately 425,00 residents, Minneapolis enters an age of growth and expansion, with BKV Group helping to shape the third largest economic center in the Midwest, while carving out time to enjoy Minnesota’s beautiful summers and proudly withstanding our cold and snowy winters.

our projects.

BKV Group has numerous projects within the city, many within walking distance of the office itself. A-Mill Artist Lofts is just over the Mississippi River and is a notable example of our Creative Reuse work. Both City Club Apartments and Soo Line Building City Apartments are located in Downtown. Other great BKV Group projects just outside the city are the Edina City Hall, Friedley Civic Campus, Faribault Armed Forces Readiness Center, and the Schmidt Artist Lofts.

To know where additional projects close to the office are located, check out the NoLo Map back on page 12!

METRO Transit

Light Rail // Bus // Northstar

Metro Transit is the transportation resource for the Twin Cities, offering an integrated network of buses, light rail and commuter trains as well as resources for those who carpool, vanpool, walk or bike. It added a light-rail link between downtown Minneapolis and downtown St. Paul in mid-2014 and is developing enhanced transitways throughout the region.

For more information, visit: www.metrotransit.org App download available.

Bike

Riding a bike to and from work is enormously beneficial, and is a great alternative transportation option. Not only are you avoiding vehicular congestion and creating more opportunities for healthy physical activity, but you’re also aiding in the reduction of our carbon footprint.

We are quite lucky to have so many bike route options here in the Twin Cities. Take advantage of them, and ride a bike!

Also, there’s Nice Ride! A bike sharing program with rental stations located throughout the metro. For more information, visit: www.niceridemn.com
