Blackberry Farm Handwoven Throw The flock of sheep at Blackberry Farm are shorn in the springtime, after their need for a Winter coat has passed. After being washed in Waldoboro, Maine, their fleece is spun into soft, lofty yarn in Nazareth, Pennsylvania. Once the yarn reaches Swans Island Studios in Maine, each skein of yarn is gently washed again and woven in its pure state or colored with a natural textile dye derived from madder root. A small, skilled team of weavers craft each throw on vintage handlooms and carefully wash, inspect and package each throw into a signature linen box.
