Patricia “Pat” Ruth Behring By Megan Scott and the Behring Family Photos courtesy of the Behring Family
C
onsidered the “first lady” of Blackhawk, Pat Behring and the legacy she left behind in this community will be greatly missed.
Pat Behring passed away peacefully at her Blackhawk home at the age of 93 on June 24, 2022, surrounded by loving family members. She was born on November 5, 1928, in Chicago to Harold William (“Bud”) Riffle and Marjorie Prince. Pat grew up in Kenosha, Wisconsin and would later move to Monroe, Wisconsin during high school where she met Kenneth Eugene Behring whom she married in 1949. After having three sons, they decided to move to Fort Lauderdale, Florida in 1956 where she had two more sons, and Ken became a very successful developer and home builder. In 1979, they moved to Danville, where Ken developed our Blackhawk community and other residential projects. He later purchased the Seattle Seahawks, built the Blackhawk Museum and started the Wheelchair Foundation. Pat was always at his side and enjoyed being “along for the ride”. Pat enthusiastically supported her husband in all of his business and philanthropic ventures. Always a gracious hostess, she frequently invited the community into her Blackhawk home for fundraising events. She joined numerous organizations to help education and the arts, and created lasting relationships with everyone she met. Her gentle nature, the twinkle in her eye and willingness to help others always left a deep impression on people. At the same time, she knew that her main job would be to raise her five sons, and family became the center of her universe. She attended all of her sons’ social and sports events, cooked their meals, always welcomed their friends into the home and, most important of all, taught them kindness and humility. Her life revolved heavily around her family, as it grew to include 10 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. A birthday, holiday or family event was never missed. Christmas Eve always took place at Grandma Pat’s house. Pat took an active interest in each family member and made them feel appreciated and special. She attended their sporting events, pageants, ceremonies, graduations and weddings. Pat always sent cards to them on special occasions (often enclosed with $5 or $10) and took each one of them separately on a “Back to School Clothes Shopping Day.” Grandma Pat always had a bright smile, a kind word, a loving heart and an attentive ear for them, and she will be deeply missed. Pat had many interests in life like playing cards and Bingo, bowling in a league, traveling all over the world and socializing with the “Red Hats” and her many friends. Her most important interest, however, was collecting. Pat loved to go to flea markets and peruse thrift and antique stores. She began an extensive teacup and saucer collection early in life and later switched to women’s compacts, ending up with probably one of the best collections ever assembled. The Blackhawk Museum recently opened up a permanent exhibition entitled “Pat’s Compacts”. Buying cookbooks was another passion that she pursued throughout her life.

AUGUST 2022
Philanthropy was another driving force in her life. In Florida, she constantly raised funds for the Museum of Art and began the Behring Teacher Awards at Pine Crest School. Years later, she would start the Patricia Behring Teacher of the Year Awards for National History Day. Locally, Pat supported the Veteran’s Memorial Museum, the John Muir Cancer Center, the Discovery Counseling Center and the National Geographic Speaker Series. Pat also began the Blackhawk Museum Guild and raised funds every year to support the Transportation Fund to provide free bus transportation so that students from throughout the East Bay could experience the Museum. Internationally, Pat loved to go on wheelchair distribution trips where she provided mobility to people in Asia, Africa and Latin America. She also enjoyed helping the Children of Grace program. Pat was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Bill, her oldest son Michael and her husband. She is survived by her four sons Tom (Malissa), David (May), Jeff (Jane), Scott (Jeanna) and her ten grandchildren Renee (Nate), John (Melissa), Colin (Elizabeth), Jessica, Brandon (Tatyana), Patrick, Stephanie (Hayden), Chris, Kyle and Elizabeth (Dominic). Pat is also survived by seven greatgrandchildren: Luke, Esther, Ethan, Theodore, Dee, Duane and Charlotte. A Celebration of Life was held at the Blackhawk Museum on July 25th. If you would like to help honor Pat’s passing, the family ask that you honor her memory by supporting the Blackhawk Museum, the Wheelchair Foundation or a charity of your choice. Boston 2022: US Open and More
By Mike L. McColgan, Resident since 1990
R
ecently, we traveled to Boston for the US Open at famous Brookline Country Club. We stayed at the luxurious Encore Casino Hotel on the Harbor managed by Wynn Resort. The hotel is close to the airport, featuring sensational harbor view rooms, impeccable service, fantastic restaurants, casino, spa and whole lots more. After arriving from our 5-hour direct flight from San Francisco, we checked into our spacious room overlooking the Boston Harbor and prepared for a week of fun, highlighted by attending the Us Open at famous Brookline Country Club, city, walking food tours and a private tour of Fenway Park. We began our trip enjoying famous lobster rolls at the On Deck Restaurant inside the hotel. After a sound sleep, we enjoyed an informative tour on the ‘hop on hop off‘ trolly bus’ of this beautiful city on a sun splashed day that was packed with many historical facts dating back to 1600.
Highlights Included, the TD Garden, home of the Celtics and Bruins, famous Cheers bar, and Quincy Market for fish and chips at Ned Devine’s Irish bar. Paul Revere’s ride and crossing the Boston Marathon finish line. Our next experience was an Italian food walking tour that included bakeries, pasta and pizza, sampling the best cannoli’s in town at Mike’s Pastries. We also had a great lunch at The Union Oyster House, America’s Oldest Restaurant established in 1826. We enjoyed fresh cape cod oysters and their famous clam chowder. Nearby Brookline was our next experience that was hosting this year’s US Open Golf tournament. Our Hall-of-famer National Champion son gets invited to this great event every year that always ends on Father’s Day. Brookline also has a rich history of many famous people being born here including the founder of Special Olympics, Eunice Shriver, who

narrow fairways and small, fast greens. This year’s winner was Matthew Fitzpatrick who edged Will Zalatoris and Scottie Sheffler by one shot. Matthew also won the US Amateur in 2013 on this historic course known as the ‘Fairways Of Fenway’. The next day we took a private tour of the oldest baseball stadium in the country, Fenway Park, built in 1912 and home of the Boston Red Sox. MJ is also an avid baseball fan and really enjoyed seeing this intimate ball park and the impressive, massive and famous left field ‘green monster wall’ up close and personal. A bonus to our trip was watching our home team Golden State Warriors win their 4th World Championship In 8 years against the Boston Celtics that was played at the Garden. Amazing Steph Curry led the team to an impressive victory and received the MVP trophy. We look forward to attending another parade celebrating the victory when we return to the great ‘City by the Bay’. e recently spent the day rafting 3 miles down the Truckee River with the Truckee River Raft Company. It was tons of fun for the whole family! We spent the day floating down the river, looking at the trees, picnicking and swimming. At the end of the trip, there was a fun restaurant with live music called the River Ranch Restaurant. We highly recommend a day rafting on the Truckee River.

Colorado’s Red Sky Ranch – Fazio
By Chuck Fox, Owner, Quintessential Golf, Resident since 2012
Rocky Mountain View
Log Clubhouse
Ranked #3 Public Course in State Nestled near the infamous Vail and Beaver Creek Resort regions in the Rocky Mountains, Red Sky Golf Club offers two scenic mountain courses, the Fazio, and the Norman. I come to soak up John Denver’s Rocky Mountain high as a golf enthusiast. As an upscale semi-private club, they limit public access to guests of thirty-five Vail and Beaver Creek properties. Play alternates between each course between public guests and the private membership.
Bunkered Par 3 with Conifer Forest
First-class service and conditioning are a hallmark of Red Sky Ranch. The exquisite playing conditions impressed me while the incredible mountain scenery marveled me. They treat visitors like members starting with the valet service at the bag drop. I would have liked to see GPS on the golf carts though. Golf Magazine ranking of public access courses puts the Fazio course at #3 and the Norman course at #1 in the state of Colorado.

Short Par 4
Fazio course opened in 2002. It plays 200-300 yards shorter from each teeing area and is less challenging than its younger sibling, the Norman course. Fairway topography is rolling as they run it back and forth along the mountainside, but you never feel a significant incline/decline during your adventure. I liked the 10% distance boost I got by playing above 7000 feet altitude. But don’t think if you normally play 6300 yards at home, that you should play from the 7000+ yard tips here. Give yourself about 5% when determining the course yardage to play.

Although the layout enjoys serious elevation changes, the Red Sky Golf Club Fazio terrain is not as severe as the Norman course. Great views from elevated tees with downhill holes provide a unique sense of beauty. Fazio has shaped wide fairway. Frequent undulating mounds makes some fairways look much tighter than the reality. They line Fairways with 3-4 inches of rough about ten to twenty feet wide. Beyond that is the desert with natural sand, rock, and brush and long wispy fescue grasses.

The challenge is on the greens. Large, undulating, and fast, they will test your touch in every way. Greens were immaculate and tour quality stimping out at 11. That’s tour level fast. I four-putted only once though. Only a narrow two-foot collar around the greens prevented the ball from hoping into deep thick grass. They scatter spectacular mountain chalets, made of rich dark wood and rock, above the course on large parcels of land. With the increased distance in the mountains and the generous fairways, the Red Sky Golf Club Fazio course is not so difficult. The key is hitting greens, then handling their undulations and speed. That’s even harder to do with the mountain scenery distraction. A good distraction though. If You Go: Course Info - Red Sky Ranch & Golf Club comprises two eighteenhole golf courses - Fazio and Norman. Red Sky is a private membership club with limited access for guests of its resort. Fees: Up to $350 depending on packages. Significant discount with stay and play packages and seasonal rates. Location - Wolcott, Colorado in the Rocky Mountains. Twenty miles west of Vail and Beaver Creek. One hundred and forty miles west of the Denver International Airport. Lodging - They extend Playing privileges to guests of thirty-five partner lodging properties. Beaver Creek Stay and Play and Vail Stay and Play packages provide discounted golf by staying in these specific properties.

I
wish everyone a relaxing and wonderful summer, and hopefully you have found time to step away from the “daily grind” and enjoy a little time with your loved ones! At Mustang Soccer we appreciated our break over the July 4th week and are now excited to get back into the swing of things ahead of the upcoming season! We are also delighted to have finally launched our new Futsal arena which represents a fantastic add to the arsenal of player-education tools at our disposal. Before the break we held a very special official “ribbon-cutting” ceremony and have since consistently heard positive feedback about the space. Like all facilities at the Mustang Soccer Complex, our goal is to make the Futsal court available to as many age groups and levels-of-play

This is all part of our commitment to continual improvement at Mustang and to add more quality offerings to our players. The HOX Swim Team Updates By Coach Sean Quakenbush
A
nd just like that, our summer swim season ends! We talk about our kids swimming fast, our pool being fast, in the end, the summer goes by too fast. HOX had another great season. We came back out of a couple strange years of Pandemic as the HIP HOX! Our neon colors shined on deck and the neon pink County Caps were a great mix up this year. It was really something to see those pink caps multiply as our swimmers achieved county times. New friendships were formed and old ones re-united. Being on a swim team is truly a special experience. As swim bags get put away and backpacks get hauled out, the smell of chlorine will still linger in our cars, laundry rooms and of course in our kids.
Trevor Kuta
Trevor has been swimming with the HOX for 7 years since moving here from Arizona. He loves being at the Blackhawk pool, both on the team and working as a lifeguard. This fall, Trevor will be attending the University of Oklahoma to study Construction Sciences.
Jordan Pantano
Jordan has been swimming with the HOX for 11 years. Through it all, the memory that will most endure is the sense of family and community that has come from the honest, supportive, and authentic relationships and friendships that have been built over the years. Jordan will be attending UC Davis in the Fall.
Allie Patridge
Allie has been on the HOX team for 14 years including one year on the Mini HOX. She will be attending Arizona State University in the fall studying Clinical exercise science.
Lilyana Webb
One part of our season that is sad is saying goodbye to the swimmers that have graduated and are heading off to college in the fall. Recreational swim is for kids thru age 18. A handful come back as coaches, but so many say goodbye to this sport for good. We would like to honor our graduating seniors and send them off with the best wishes for success!
Lilyana has been on Hox since she was six years old. She has had lots of head coaches, but when Sean came she found a real butterflier as a coach. She is heading to Colorado University - Boulder in the fall and plans to become a social worker. She still has one more year of eligibility, so we hope to convince her to come back and swim next year (and cheer on her brother, Luke).
Amelia Gardner
Coach Jan Hagan
She will study at San Diego State University this fall. Go HOX! Go Aztecs!
We wanted to do something different for our Coaches Update this month in recognizing a veteran alumni coach that visited on deck during our Senior night in July. Jan Hagan started coaching in Illinois at age 17. She continued coaching while attending the University of Illinois. She has coached for recreational teams, year-round teams, Bishop O’Dowd High School. She coached at the HOX from 2003 to 2016 and continued doing lessons with private clients for many years after. Over the years, it would be surprising if at some point, you haven’t seen Coach Jan on deck whether she is coaching or cheering on her grandchildren. Her grandchildren, Raquel, Riley, and Ryder all swam for the HOX. Some of her swimmers did swim at the Olympic Trials. Coaching has been a part of her life for 67 years. We always look forward to Coach Jan and all our HOX Alumni to come back and visit us.
Amelia has swum for HOX since 2012. Has been a Jr Coach, Mini HOX coach and lifeguard at the pool. A Varsity Swim Team and Varsity Water Polo player at Monte Vista High School, graduating with Honors with the class of 2022. Specializing in butterfly, Amelia has made some of her best friends enjoying summer swim with the HOX and will cherish those memories.
Ryder Hagan
Ryder Hagan has been at the HOX pool since he was about 2 months old. His older siblings were on the team. He started swimming on the team at age 5. Our family has had a swimmer on the team for 22 years. Ryder will be attending UC Berkeley this August to play water polo and go to school. Go Bears.
Mathew Koopmans
Mathew started swimming when he was 5 on the Thousand Oaks swim team in Kansas City. The family moved to Danville in 2013 and joined the HOX when he was 10. His platinum hair and not so small physique has been a staple on the HOX pool deck for almost a decade. He’ll be attending the University of Arizona in the fall studying Physiology, specializing in sports medicine.
Where residents find and recommend the best local, trusted businesses
We wouldn’t be the HOX without our alumni Coaches and swimmers.
Thank you HOX for another great Summer Swim Season and we will see you in a few weeks for Fall Swim! GO HOX!!!!

8 common Facebook Marketplace scams and how to avoid them By Anthony Regina, CEO at Bay Area IT Solutions, Inc.
L
ast year, Facebook Marketplace passed one billion global users. In so doing, it’s become a giant of the consumer-toconsumer space, allowing individual Facebook users to buy from and sell to each other seamlessly. It has surpassed the popularity of Craigslist for several reasons. It’s also free and simple to use, as most people already have a Facebook account. It allows users to search for listings from their local area, making pick-up much easier. And because people can view sellers’ profiles, they feel more assured of safety and security on the site. Unfortunately, this is often a false sense of security.

Make a Kite and Fly a Kite! When I read this article in the New York Times it reminded me of a time I went to Briones Regional Park with my sister and my brother-in-law and flew kites. I think I was in 4th grade. The fact that I still remember the experience, and it was such a great experience, made me want to write about making a kite.
Tony Jetland, is known as “The Kite Man”. Tony took up kite making and flying 22 years ago and hasn’t stopped since. Tony flies his kites at the Marina in Martinez, California where it is always windy. Tony’s kites are world-famous and incredible. Well Adjusted By Dr. Tracey James, DC, Anatomy Power Wellness
Y
ou deserve to live an extraordinary life. It all begins with a healthy brain and body.
As humans we live dynamic lives full of wonder, joy, possibility as well as obstacles and challenges. In a human lifetime there can be great moments of ease and also chaos. One of the greatest secrets of chiropractic is that adjustments are delivered to optimize and sustain life, rather than to treat or fix. Those who are well adjusted are the most resilient and adaptable. Chiropractic Research with Heart Rate Variability shows that those who are well adjusted have greater heart rate variability and thereby greater adaptability in their lives. The chiropractic adjustments helps the body to unwind tension, unlocking cellular memory in order to integrate unresolved and stored tension. Postural stress and tension can be re-integrated as energy for life sustaining foundations; a heart beating more efficiently, lungs breathing more proficiently or a mind thinking and processing with greater clarity.
During the chiropractic adjustment, as we stretch, breathe, and unwind tension our circulation increases, synaptic changes occur and the underlying energy flows. When we improve our body’s awareness, aka proprioception, this is an update for your cerebellum, vestibular system, parietal and frontal lobes of your brain. Chiropractic is sacred and reverent to Life. A well adjusted human is not one whose journey is void of challenges, it is one that is better prepared to handle, integrate and move through them. Chiropractic honors the power and purpose of the innate wisdom of the body—it is a state of being present with the body and speaking to the body and discovering exactly what it needs. The adjustment is the removal of interferences, supporting the body in its awareness and gathering of stray energies to allow the body to reveal and heal. The adjustment is an incredible tool in supporting the way the mind body is operating, breathing, moving and expressing itself. Chiropractic can support the body in moving though a variety of stresses that may present in life such as recovering injury, increased range of motion, preparing or healing from birth, healing pain and discomfort, recovering from trauma, readying the body for a marathon, working though overwhelm, fatigue or life’s many daily stressors. Chiropractic might just be the very thing you are looking for to support your body.

She likes to play ball and carries her toys around in her mouth, getting close to the fence so she can show them off to the dog on the other side. Itsy also likes to splash around in the wading pool. You can meet adorable Itsy at the East County Animal Shelter at 4595 Gleason Drive, Kennel B4. Itsy is spayed, vaccinated and microchipped and ready for her new forever home. Meet little Jazmine - a sweet and frisky kitten who wants nothing more than to be in your lap. She loves to play with her foster sibling cats and Australian Shepherds she is living with. She will follow you around and ask for love all day. And a touch of a hand is enough to make her purr. Jazmine is spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, and tested negative for FIV/FeLV and looking for her forever home. TVAR’s kitten and bottle baby programs rescue kittens - some only days old - who are unable to be adopted from the shelter and places them in foster homes where they receive medical care, love and a home setting until they are healthy, able to be spayed or neutered and ready for their forever homes.

We are celebrating 30 years of saving lives with over 250 local volunteers. At TVAR, we rely solely on Public Support to fund our life saving programs. All TVAR’s foster animals go directly from the local Animal Shelter into foster homes where they receive much needed love and socialization and where they are kept until adopted. We also have an invaluable Shelter Program where our volunteers spend countless hours every day at the local shelter working with the Dogs, Puppies, Cats and Kittens and the Public. Considering Rhinoplasty? By Stephen J. Ronan MD FACS, Blackhawk Plastic Surgery and MedSpa
A
lot of men and women say that the choice to undergo rhinoplasty is a decision that has had a large positive impact on their lives. Feeling good about the way your nose looks can do wonders for your self-confidence. Your nose is the most prominent feature on your face, and its shape affects the overall balance or imbalance of your face. A hereditary dorsal hump, an elongated tip or nose that is too wide are issues that most patients considering rhinoplasty want to address. Often, there are other functionality issues that make the nose appear to be bigger, wider or longer. Fortunately, all these things can be addressed simultaneously during rhinoplasty surgery. While a lot of men and women out there may be interested in getting rhinoplasty, many of them are hesitant because they are worried about what the recovery will be like. The first thing to understand is that rhinoplasty is a highly personalized procedure. The techniques used and the extent of the surgical work required will vary from patient to patient. In some cases, cartilage may need to be removed, repositioned, or reshaped. Some nasal bones may also need to be shaved or carefully fractured depending on the desired results of the patient. Following your rhinoplasty, you can expect to experience some issues like swelling, bruising, and discomfort. Thankfully, medication can be provided to help manage pain and discomfort, and post-operative instructions will help to make the recovery process easier. After surgery, most patients return to in person work after a week. Or, if working from home, even after a day or two. Ready to take the next step? If you would like to learn more about rhinoplasty and to see if you are a good candidate, or if you would like to get started on your rhinoplasty journey, please contact our office at 925.736.5757 to schedule a complimentary in-person or virtual consultation where we can review the procedure together and address all your questions.

Danville Summerfest Classic Car Show By David Tom, Resident Since 1990
O
n June 26, 2022, the Danville Summerfest Classic Car Show returned to downtown Danville after a three-year hiatus. After emerging from a rough couple of years Danville needed a party and the Summerfest delivered. There was so much to entertain the masses: food and drinks, live music, kids’ activities, a petting zoo, health & and wellness fair and of course lots of beautiful cars. The local celebrity judges passed out awards, but every car deserved to be recognized. If you are looking to party, you are in luck! Come downtown to the Hot Summer Sundays Car Show on August 21, 2022, and you will see a street party like no other. The festivities, ushering in the show’s 24th year, include rare one-of-a-kind collector cars, customdesigned cars, and classic and muscle cars from all eras. See you there.
David Tom: I have lived in Danville for 30 years. I retired from the corporate tax world and now pursue a variety of projects that interest me. I have always loved cars and look forward to sharing them with you. PENDING

Shifting More Business Success To Personal Wealth
By Henry Chau, CPWA®, WestPac Wealth Partners
W
hy do people become business owners? Common answers we often hear from our clients is so we can follow our dream and do what we love. We saw a need or a different way of doing things. It allowed intellectual creativity and flexibility in my work schedule. Fine-tuning the culmination of these factors will bring success, and success is often followed by an increase in wealth-building potential. We often forget that on this path to success and wealth-building, we are accompanied by a silent investor, the IRS. In the United States, a marginal tax rate system is utilized, which means that the amount of additional tax paid for every additional dollar earned as income is based on it’s respective bracket. The highest marginal tax bracket for 2022 is 37% for single filers making $539,901 or more and $647,851 or more for married filing jointly. Add in CA, state tax, which is at least 10.3% starting at $312,687 for single filers and $625,373 for married filing jointly. Don’t forget the cherry-ontop, which is the 3.8% Obamacare Medicare Surtax. Unfortunately, this level of success means you have at least a 51.1% silent investor in your business and any additional dollar of income earned. Fortunately, as business owners, you have some creativity available for deferring away earned income. The IRS allows business owners to establish qualified retirement plans to contribute towards retirement.
These contributions are tax-deferred the year the contribution is made and taxed as ordinary income when distributions are taken during your retirement years. Your Defined Contribution (DC) plans (401(K)/Profit Sharing) allows contributions up to $61,000 and if you’re age 50+, an additional $6,500 catch-up contribution. You can also stack a Defined Benefit (DB) plan on top of your DC plan. These DB plans come in two flavors, a traditional Defined Benefit or a Cash Balance plan. The contributions on this end are based on three main factors: your age, amount of earned income, and years of service in the company. A traditional Defined Benefit will allow for higher contributions and a Cash Balance will allow for more flexibility in your yearly contribution. Ex.: Age 50, $300,000 of business compensation, and 5 years of service has a Level Deductible Contribution of $229,416 and a Maximum Deductible Contribution of $344,1243. If you have discretionary earnings, why pay your silent investor 50% of those earnings today? Why not defer those earnings, allow them to grow tax-deferred, and then pay it spread across your entire retirement?

If you’re a specified service business, establishing qualified plans may help reduce earned income down to $340,100 for married fling joint and $170,050 for single filers for 2022, where you’ll be eligible for the 199A deduction, which is an additional 20% tax deduction on QBI (Qualified Business Income).

Blackhawk-Raised Second Generation Jeweler Alexis Padis Wins Two Prestigious Jewelry Industry Awards in 2022 By Steve Padis, Padis Jewelry and the Forevermark Boutique at Broadway Plaza
T
he Padis family has been in the jewelry business for nearly 50 years – and company founders Steve and Judy Padis proudly welcomed their daughter, Alexis, into the business 12 years ago. Following in her parents’ footsteps, she dove right into the industry and became involved in a number of organizations. In addition to becoming company president in 2017 and spearheading growth that includes a location at Broadway Plaza in Walnut Creek and a downtown Napa location, Alexis becomes the youngest and only the 5th female President-Elect for the American Gem Society Board of Directors – an organization that represents the top 5% of jewelers across the country, focused on consumer protection and continuing education. In 2017, Alexis received the Women’s Jewelry Association Award of Excellence in Retail, a national award recognizing female leaders in the industry. She also received the American Gem Society’s Young Titleholder of the year in 2021 and attended the invite-only Gemological Institute of America’s Executive Leadership Program at Harvard Business School. This year, with the return of more in person events, also brought on two new inaugural awards - The “20 Under 40” by Jewelers of America and the NextGen Diamonds Do Good Awards.
Jewelers of America “20 Under 40” in Jewelry
Alexis is the only Californian represented in the Jewelers of America’s inaugural “20 Under 40 in Jewelry Retail List” recognizing professionals who exemplify leadership and a commitment to elevating jewelry retail for consumers. A panel of industry judges selected the 20 honorees from the nationwide applications. JA President and CEO David Bonaparte said, “Jewelers of America’s 20 Under 40 in Jewelry Retail List was designed to recognize young and talented individuals in all facets of the retail jewelry industry. These recipients will pave the way for a brighter future and the next generation of jewelry industry professionals.”
Diamonds Do Good® Next Gen Award
Within a few weeks, global non-profit Diamonds Do Good® tapped Alexis, Feriel Zerouki of DeBeers, Kealeboga Pule of Nungu Diamonds, and Kecia Caffie of Piercing Pagoda as its inaugural award recipients. The Next Gen Awards were presented at Diamonds Do Good’s annual gala on June 9th at the Venetian Hotel, Palazzo Ballroom in Las Vegas. “Our goal is to recognize leaders who represent the future for our industry. These individuals span the mining, manufacturing and retail sectors and we will highlight their accomplishments in their respective fields and support of the communities where they do business,” says Diamonds Do Good’s President and GIA Senior Vice President, Anna Martin.
“Alexis has had first-hand experience successfully pivoting through the pandemic years, embracing an omnichannel approach while taking risks that proved fruitful for her business and community. She takes to heart the responsibility of the independent jeweler to promote ethical business practices, uphold consumer protection and continue their jewelry education while supporting her own local community” said Martin. “The recipients of these awards reflect the importance of engaging community around the world,” says DDG Co-Founder and Civil Rights Leader Dr. Benjamin Chavis, Jr., “Now more than ever we need to reaffirm and share this commitment with consumers everywhere.” The entire Padis Jewelry family is overwhelmingly proud of Alexis and her accomplishments as she continues to establish herself and Padis Jewelry as committed jewelry industry leaders. The noncommissioned team at Padis Jewelry is happy to assist you with any questions, jewelry maintenance, appraising or to help you select your next family heirloom to wear and enjoy. We also offer local delivery and concierge services! Feel free to reach the Padis team at concierge@padisjewelry.com or 415-861-5388 if we can be of assistance in any way. Wishing you and your family lots of happy memories and vacations during these lovely summer months!
