2024 LEADERSHIP
As we close out another vibrant summer, let’s take a moment to reflect on the experiences we’ve had in the Black Hills & Badlands.
We’ve continued to showcase the stunning beauty, rich culture, and adventure that our region is known for. Each year brings new challenges, and even though the road got a little rough –sometimes quite literally – the tourism industry has proven once again that we can overcome any obstacle together.
While this year’s annual report reveals a dip in overall visitation, we continue to see robust taxable sales. It is evident that the marketing efforts by Black Hills & Badlands Tourism on behalf of our members have been effective. We’ve attracted high-quality visitors who engage with and invest in our region.
After our website reconstruction, we’re thrilled to see significant growth in engagement metrics. Site banners and events have attracted more clicks and views, while business listings have improved user experience with a lower bounce rate. Sponsored listings have also gained visibility. These enhancements reflect our commitment to providing valuable resources to our audience.
We owe a huge debt of thanks to our members. Thanks to your continued support our membership retention rate in 2024 is at 91%, which is a staggering 5-15% higher than most associations and non-profits. We are truly top performers in what we do and sincerely appreciate our members for continuing to trust in us year after year. It is through these wonderful partnerships that we continue to see success for our region.
Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to serve as your 2024 Black Hills & Badlands Board of Directors Chair. I wish you all a year of continued growth and success.
