E D I TO R’S N OT E No matter how many times I visit New England, I will never tire of its quintessentially American charm. Those wide leafy streets and white weatherboard houses; beautiful coastlines of sweeping sand dunes, creaking wooden jetties and wonderful cities - the country’s oldest – contrasting against a patchwork quilt of rolling green hills and red wooden barns. This is a part of the USA that relies not on glitz and glamour, or on sunshine and celebrity. This is the America of organic, earthy charm, of history, art and architecture. Wander the streets of Boston and you’ll be walking in the footsteps of the country’s first European settlers. Explore Maine’s rocky coastline and you’ll discover a world of lighthouses and lobster. Drive the endless winding country roads of Vermont and climb the spectacular peaks of New Hampshire and you’ll be inspired by a natural beauty unique to the region. Yes, North America is brimming with exciting destinations. With tourism hotspots and natural wonders. But nowhere feels quite as authentic as this - the birthplace of the American dream. We are a small, family-owned brewery that started as a seven barrel brew pub in 2003. After eight years, we decided to start a production brewery in 2011. Today we’re focused mainly on brewing and distributing our flagship beer, Heady Topper. We’re also in the midst of building a second brewery and visitor’s center in Stowe, Vermont. Once this brewery is open, we will have the capacity to bring back many beers from our old pub days. What is it about Vermont that you love so much? For me, Vermont is home. I was raised here and the state is beautiful both in terms of the landscape and the people that live here. We are surrounded by like-minded and progressive business owners; and there is a distinct lack of pretension and materialism. In general, everyone here values a good quality of life, family and the environment. We take care of each other. And what’s the best way to experience the state? Moose are often spotted casually crossing the roads and pathways of the mountain areas, as well as wild deer and foxes.
