This interconnected world we live in needs new ways to play, learn and teach. Working with parents and educators, Headu makes superior quality, fun games to develop children’s multiple intelligences. The Headu method promotes, develops and harnesses natural talents using teaching devices designed to build key skills or naturally encourage, without forcing, a lifetime ability to learn.
1
Multiple Intelligences
Starting with the idea that each child is born with their own unique combination of biological intelligences; discovering their characteristics at an early age enables the educator to utilize and develop the most appropriate formae mentis as the best pathway for the transmission of skills. PERSONAL

Method
MUSICAL
BODILY KINESTHETIC
This way of looking at the mind emerges clearly in the Theory of Multiple Intelligences by American psychologist, Howard Gardner. He posits that there is not one single intelligence, but that each person has multiple ways of thinking at birth, multiple formae mentis, mostly independent from one another. Biologically present in each individual, although differently, these intelligences actually develop inside a favorable cultural context, meaning an anthropological context, capable of letting them emerge and appreciating them.

Howard Gardner teaches Cognitive Sciences and Educational Psychology at Harvard University. Specializing in developmental psychology and neuropsychology, he is the senior director of Project Zero, an experimental program on learning strategies. He is also a qualified and strong voice for this theoretical approach to cognitive development, having published several successful books within the fields of science, education, and sociology.

Menu of Skills
Developing the child’s intelligences through the acquisition of a vast and simultaneously essential range of skills, both horizontally – including basic symbolic and notational systems and the most useful and emerging disciplines – and vertically – focusing the approach on the founding nuclei of each knowledge. Skills-Based Device
Using play as the exclusive means for the transmission of skills. Play has great potential to be the true driving force of a child’s activities while also lending itself to be directed toward the acquisition of certain skills with the use of certain pathways of intelligence.
The HEADU method features educational tools that aim to develop specific skills by applying an adaptive process: through play, the child applies their individual intelligences to resolve situations of varying complexity. Their efforts, which are encouraged by the game, will lead them to acquire new skills.
Personal intelligences In this environment, American psychologist Howard Gardner illustrates two formae mentis. Intrapersonal intelligence can be distinguished in persons who have a good awareness of themselves, of their own sentiments, and of their own emotions. These are individuals who are usually capable of making positive choices, of attaining objectives, of being acquainted with their own strengths and weaknesses and, generally, of having an adequate management of their own person. We find a certain propensity to intrapersonal intelligence in children who have good operative independence. Interpersonal intelligence is observed in those who are skilled in understanding the sentiments, emotions, fears, desires and needs of other people. Children who are sociable have this aptitude and promote and organize group activities.

Linguistic intelligence Linguistic intelligence is typical of persons who utilize a rich and diversified vocabulary in a creative manner and express themselves clearly and pertinently, both orally and in writing. Capable of mastering new words, these individuals have an excellent propensity for listening; they know how to distinguish with ease between different linguistic registers and are used to reflecting on their speech. Some children demonstrate this capacity already at the age of only a few months and, since verbal language is a very important means of communication, they are soon met with a certain recognition from adults.

Bodily Kinesthetic intelligence Corporeal-Kinetic intelligence belongs as much to gymnasts and ballerinas as it does to football players and actors, but also to goldsmiths and artisans. That is, to whoever is capable of controlling and coordinating their own movements, of having great talent as a mimic, of using a rich body language, and of skilfully manipulating objects. Generally, it is the intelligence of those who have an extensive mastery of their own bodies: it can be observed in children who have a good sense of balance and of bodily coordination and who show talent for manual activities, for the use of non-verbal languages, and for practicing sports.

Logical Mathematical intelligence Logical-Mathematical intelligence is the inclination of individuals who make rapid calculations and who solve problems through inductive or deductive reasoning. It is typical of persons who work out strategies of «problem solving», who schematize reality, who have a talent for abstract concepts and who know how to apply concepts to general situations. We can also observe logical-mathematical intelligence in children who are very good at mental calculation, who are capable of classifying objects and understanding the relations between things, and who can successfully express themselves in a synthetic manner.

Naturalistic intelligence Naturalistic intelligence is manifested in a particular sensitivity toward nature, the environment, and human beings. This sensitivity leads to recognizing and classifying in detail the diversity of the world around us. Scientists, obviously, are gifted in this, but so are several members of that primitive tribe who have the ability to distinguish numerous aspects and indications offered by the nature that surrounds them. Children endowed with this intelligence show particular interest in natural phenomena, animals, and plants.
