Weatherford Public Library Program Guide - September 2020
Welcome To Our New Monthly Library Guide Hello fellow library users! Welcome to our new monthly library guide! As you may know, our previous library guides would cover three months at a time. With the ever changing world we find ourselves in now, we thought it would be a good time to change things up. Going forward we will be putting out a monthly guide to talk about what is happening at the Weatherford Public Library. This guide is naturally going to be smaller since it only covers one month at a time. We also decided to make this guide more dedicated to the events and programs that are happening at the library. For those of you who enjoyed the book reviews, the DIY craft ideas, and other items that were not directly related to events we host will notice that those have been removed from the guide. Fear not! Those items, while not included in the monthly guides anymore, will be posted on our Facebook page as we get them. We know that those sections are important to a lot of library users and we wanted to make sure to still put them out there for everyone to enjoy. Speaking of Facebook..... Did you know that we have a Facebook page that we post to regularly? All you have to do is go to https://www.facebook.com/WeatherfordPL or search Weatherford Public Library on Facebook.
Did You Know? - Did you know that in the month of July over 25 THOUSAND books were checked out from the library?
“The library is an arena of possibility, opening both a window into the soul and a door onto the world.” — Rita Dove

National Library Card Sign Up Month September is National Library Card Sign Up Month. This year we are celebrating by letting library users design our new library cards! Previously, we had one card design that everyone who signed up for a library card received. We decided that was no fun and that it was time to shake things up! We started the contest on August 13th where users could submit designs for our new library cards. Submissions will be accepted until the end of the day on September 11th. Once we have all

of the submissions turned in, we will create a poll that will run from September 14th through the 21st where everyone can vote on their favorite design. The top three designs will be used to create our new library cards. Winners of the contest will be announced on September 23rd on our website, www.wpltx.com, and on our Facebook page. We are excited to see what amazing designs are submitted and can’t wait to be able to offer the winning designs on our new library cards.
Temporary library card until new designs are selected.
Meet The Staff This month in Meet The Staff we turn the spotlight onto Justin Gales. Justin is the Circulation Manager for Weatherford Public Library. Justin joined the library as a Circulation Clerk when he was hired in 2017. In 2018 he was promoted to the Circulation Manager when the previous manager retired. While Justin oversees the circulation workflow, he also assists with other aspects of the library’s daily operations. He helps with directing and producing videos for the library. He even built the studio that the library uses to make our videos! He produces this new monthly guide. He also is responsible for the addition of the widely popular video game collection that the library now offers.
Justin Gales
Circulation Manager
In his personal life, Justin has been married for nine years, has a seven year old son, a dog named Max, and two lazy cats named Jupiter and Remus. In his free time Justin likes to spend time with his family and playing video games. Video games seem to be a theme when it comes to discusing Justin. Believe it or not, but he actually has a degree in video game design! While in college Justin had the opportunity to work with a large game company to play test and be a voice actor in a big budget game series.
“My goal is to ensure that everyone who enters the library leaves with a positive experience.” - Justin
