3 PROFESSIONAL Q+A SALON
In our Salon, every day is Client Day.
This is our busy, active professional Hair Salon, where our students are constantly working with many clients on a wide variety of hair services. This allows our students to gain incredible experience, confidence and skills. You train on real clients to get the real experience that employers want. When you graduate, you can make a seamless transition from classroom to career.
4 FAMILY AND FRIENDS DAYS
During these pandemic days, it’s been hard not being able to see our family and friends as often as we would like. It’s been an emotionally challenging time for everyone. Being able to treat your Family and Friends to some free hair services is such a “highlight”. This is a wonderful way to reconnect with people, to provide them with some self care, and to share a bit of your new creative and professional journey.
5 CURLIQUE BEAUTY BOUTIQUE
Gain access and hands-on practice with Professional Hair brands and additional Product Training with Hair professionals.
Develop the confidence to generate additional income through retail sales. The practice of “selling something” can feel uncomfortable to some people. Learn how to create sales through education and service. Show your clients how to take care of their hair at home, what products to use, and how to use them. Then your product recommendations will naturally result in retail sales.

Students begin with a complete immersion in the practical and handson aspects of cutting hair. You will develop a solid foundation of skills and knowledge to build upon throughout the program. What our grads say...
Camille Petit, Blanche Macdonald Hair Graduate, Senior Stylist, Plan B, Kelowna BC
I used to tell my mom when I was four years old that when I grew up I wanted to be a hairstylist, which for a little while changed to a dentist! I quickly learned that dentistry wasn’t for me, but the hairstylist dream definitely stuck...I loved hair school! I learned SO much. I left Blanche Macdonald feeling super prepared for the big bad hair world.”
54
Amanda Bagri, Blanche Macdonald Hair Graduate, Salon Owner/Stylist - MOD ON MAIN, Vancouver BC
When I was in high school, I knew I didn’t want to go to college or university. I loved the beauty and esthetics industry, so it was like, ‘Oh well then that’s what I’ll go to school for!’
I never expected to love it as much as I did or to be a Hairstylist as my career. I just kind of thought, ‘If it works, it works...’
But my teachers were great and I made so many friends fast—it was very cool!”
55
Travis Battaglia, Blanche Macdonald Hair Graduate, Master Stylist, Supernova, North Vancouver, BC
The Blanche name alone opens up a lot of opportunities when it comes to getting hired at high-end luxury salons and getting into different industries. It helped me become an educator for three global companies Wella, Nioxin and Sebastian.”
56
I loved doing my own hair, so I spoke to a friend who was a stylist about her experiences. I did some research and spoke to people who’d been to hair school. The program at Blanche Macdonald had the most education and the most depth. Everything I read said it was the best school, so why not go with the best?...The first shift after I graduated I was on the floor as a stylist.”
Victoria Jazic, Blanche Macdonald Hair Graduate, Salon Owner/Stylist - THE HONEY LOUNGE, Vancouver BC
57
We were never taught to do specific creative styles. Instead, we learned the skills and the ability to look at a style and know how to do it.
We had to be willing to learn and absorb everything. Which I did, because I learned really easily... All the teachers had their different styles and I liked that.”
Dylan Walker, Blanche Macdonald Hair Graduate and Stylist, Harlow Gold Salon
58
Tyla Malcolm, Blanche Macdonald Hair Graduate, Salon Owner/Stylist, Parlour Hair Boutique, Prince Rupert BC
My favourite part of the Pro Hair program was colour class! I’ve always loved colour – it’s fun and creative and a little science-y, which my nerdy side secretly loves!
I love formulating and I also really enjoyed the photo shoots... The best part of owning my own salon is the freedom and flexibility it allows me.
I also love the space I’ve created –it really reflects my style.”

Admissions Information
Making the decision to pursue a new career can be confusing and challenging. To ease the process and to assist you in researching your educational options, your first step is to connect with an Admissions Director. Please give yourself the time to speak with a college Director to thoroughly discuss and review your career options, and to allow us to help you with the admissions process and financial aid options.
Admission Requirements
• Applicants must have completed grade 11 or be 19 years of age or older at the start of the student’s program of study.
• Proof of English skills is required for ESL applicants: Blanche Macdonald Centre English Assessment 21+/30, IELTS 5.5+, TOEFL iBT 55+.

Admission Procedures
Students who are Canadian Citizens or have Landed Immigrant Status:

Interviews can be conducted in person, by phone or Skype.
• Please complete the online Student Application/Personal Information Form.
• Please indicate on your Application whether you require a Canada Student Loan. Please note that students applying for Student Loan funding must apply well in advance of their start date.
• Once you have been accepted into the program, it is essential that you register as early as possible. To ensure small class sizes and a high teacher-student ratio, it is necessary for the college to limit enrollment. If you wish to have a preferred program starting date, or if you are applying for Student Loan funding, advance registration is strongly advised. The Blanche Macdonald Centre has limited registration.
68

The Blanche Macdonald Centre holds a designation certificate issued by the Private Training Institutions Branch (PTIB) of British Columbia, holds an Education Quality Assurance (EQA) designation and is a designated learning institution with Citizenship & Immigration Canada (CIC).
The college reserves the right to refuse admission to any applicant who does not meet each of these admission requirements.
