When I start a new piece of work or a new studio, I try to put myself into it. If it’s someone else’s idea or if it has been done before, I try to stay away from it. No matter what my theme or topic is, I strive to put myself into the work I make. A common theme noticed throughout my work is that they are all quirky in their own way. Every piece of my work would probably have some kids say, “oh, I get it!” while others might be a bit confused. A theme I tried to convey a little more throughout the last couple of studios was Insanity. Insanity itself is a strange topic, and found it would be interesting to try and convey it. I worked using photography in my later studios. However, I do want to try getting into using charcoal and ink, to be able to show depth and emotion through black and white. The media I prefer to use I photography. It is not as easy as some people make it out to be. A photographer needs to have good lighting, good setting, and good timing. It is not just one, two, three, shoot. One artist who inspired me was Chris Sanders. Chris Sanders was the producer of the movie Lilo and Stitch, and he helped draw out the characters used in the film. From him I learned that not every single drawing has to be completely realistic. I like that fact because then I am able to make any work of art into a piece of the world in my mind.
