I see it as one of the most relevant conductor means for the technology to spread throughout society typically involving goods, which involve changes in lifestyle, the environment and moral challenges, Citizens' needs also evolve, and even made change. Despite design being seen by some as just another link in the chain of the whole product development process, I believe it is a focal point when it comes to social and environmental impact, wheredesign decisions appearing insignificant could suppose massive changes.

Automatic turn Problems: • Lack of transversal space. • Huge RPM reduction demand. • Wiring and motor placing. Solution: a gear merges in the the inner bearing ring –engaged to a worm gear driven by a motor. The motor is fixed to the external ring. Pushers at the ends of the stroke allow automatization.

How to rotate the core only?
Avoiding visual cluttering
Solution: a bearing system at each of the sides and two crossbeams joining the tips freely hold the "slices of the sandwch”.
Problem: cord, crossbeams and “window” are undiscreet. Solutions: • Removable power cord & storage case. • Transparent crossbeams. • Smart glass “Window”.

watch design Autumn 2012
BRIEFING
Andante Sessanta This watch design workshop originates from the construction of a whole persona environment coming from a single photograph of a person, out of the twelve given. To be developed only by hand-sketching and latter image manipulation software coloring. Last but not least, a poster with a famous person wearing it should target the generated persona. In this context, the technical development of the watch is far less important than working on the emotional and experiencial design aspects of its design.

Unsustainable responses
• Water consumption is far more optimized.
• Water & food crisis. • Financial crisis. • Overpopulation.
• Monocultures. • Hazardous chemicals • Hormone implants, GMOs...
• Plants do not require pesticides to survive even at big crops.

• Vertical farming can face the reduced terrain in cities. • Implementable in various climates, locally or at home, they allow traceability.
Citizens want, citizens need... • More space is in the city or nearby in order to be able to grow locally or at home for own consumption. • Honest labelling and closeness with food sources, as well as traceability of the products.

Typical advantages
Balconies or roofs?
• Highly adaptable to diverse spaces and distributions.
A Google Earth-survey of balconies and roofs, and climate check of 6 diverse cities led to opt for a modular system with an integrated greenhouse focused on balconies.
• Least laborious and highest quality hydroponic system. • Quickest ROI

vehicle training simulator hardware design Winter-Spring 2016
EVOLVING SCOPE
Tenstar S1
Tenstar simulation AB's training simulator hardware lacks to match the high-quality of their software. Hence, sound hardware development is demanded to compete in a budget market segment with scarce hardware innovation. Tenstar has a great chance of conquering a part of this niche by strengthening its "generic" asset taking the leap to a modular manufacturing.
FROM GENERIC TO TRUCK SPECIFIC An interesting aspect of this project is the huge challenge that resulted from a major shift in the company briefing coming late in the extensive exploration stage: from a simulator that should accomodate many construction, transportation and agriculture- vehichles, Tenstar demanded a Truck specific simulator design. The team had to constantly adapt to the new demands and necessarily manage tough trade-offs.

Depending on several parameters, a total amount of five different vehicle type specificity categories and four mobility categories were defined in order to find Tenstar's ideal niche and better identify valuable features of other brands' models. The market analysis and user study results pointed out Tenstar could have interesting opportunities leading the most vehicle-generic end of the affordable part of the market.

Steering wheel adjustment
Two main alternatives were engineered for the base modularity, around 5 for transportation facilitation (top 3 shown) and about 6 for screen orientation (selected shown). The 3 following concepts thrive to combine base and transportation alternatives.
A slidable column featuring a strategically located articulation and telescopic adjustment coordinated by a one-pedal mechanical wire system would solve problems regarding field of view obstruction, EU pallet constraints, monocontrol wheel adjustability realism and others.

The frame design saves up to 50% of frame lenght in the truck version (no motion base). By just adding two parts (in blue in the picture) to this frame, it can be connected to a lower frame in order to get a modular upgrade for the motion version for construction and agricultural vehicles. The cost of the bodywork parts shown below was parametrically estimated to have been reduced about 70%, despite the larger amount of covers, by designing all these parts so that they could be vacuum thermoformed in ABS.

The pairs of telescopic aluminium profiles (1) are a possible budget solution to keep a solid structure with little deviation. A piece of rigid foam (2) set between the screens and the seat would release most of the torque/vibrations the screen support would suffer during transportation. Finally, the integration of an office chair gas cylinder (3) would allow both adjusting the height of the screens and dumping small vibrations on the screen support column.

Tenstar S1 The S1 features an integrated appearance of a compact, whole product rather than the gathering of several parts. Some of the integrated sub-solutions like the auto-lockable orientable screen mount (1) can be understood as optional products themselves. The independent slider (2) is a core part of the concept instead. A gas cylinder operated by a lever (2ď §) allows safe, effortless and smooth adjustment of the screenheight to vehicle/anthropometry specific demands, and visual cues integrate an intuitive optimal adjustment of both the longitudinal slider-distance and angle of the lateral screens for portrait or landscape modes (2ď ¨, 2ď Š).
2
3
Finally, the removable tray & back cover (3) designs not only save material and weight, but also facilitates substantially the access to the CPU/GPU, modularity (use of same parts) for upgrading in order to add motion servos.
