EOBA’s thirty year-old facility located in the heart of an industrial zone is over-due for an upgrade. The design goal is to promote a safe space for learning in a healthy environment.
Being sensitive to EOBA’s financial constraints, we propose a low-cost, pre-engineered structure as a solution for the new building with art rooms, a computer lab, maker and study areas; as well as cooking and communal gathering spaces.
The simple two-story structure provides over 4,000 square feet interior space with an additional 1,375 square feet exterior courtyard for special events or later enclosed for future expansion. Roof solar panels, a grey water recycling system, and connection to the existing roof rainwater catchment system exploits local natural resources which will reduce operating costs.
