CELEBRATING EvERy dETAIL It is my pleasure to welcome you to the 2016 issue of Bliss Celebrations Guide, your ultimate resource for planning fresh, modern, and spectacular weddings and events in New England. This year’s issue was a joy to produce due to the abundance of fabulous weddings and events created by New England’s finest event professionals. As you pour over the beautiful pages of Bliss Celebrations Guide 2016, I know you will be as inspired as I was by the creativity, out-of-the-box thinking, and trend-setting ideas brought to you by the most innovative and creative vendors in the industry. Each photo will inspire you to create the wedding or event of your dreams. The best part is the information you need to find those who can make it all happen is right at your fingertips! “Uniqueness” is definitely the trend in this season’s celebrations. On almost every page where we highlight a wedding or event, you will notice a personal touch. For instance, bridesmaids’ dresses no longer match: you will see dresses in coordinating colors in a variety of styles or patterns. Couples choose menus created with local farm-to-table ingredients, including gluten free fare. Signature cocktails or bourbon and whiskey bars added that personal touch to an event, along with custom designed cakes and sweets that topped off the end to each occasion. Unique touches can be found in the event details, from custom linens and tabletops to stylized lounge areas with distinct furnishings adding to the one-of-a-kind look. And lastly, the floral designs were just spectacular this year! From abundant, locally-sourced bouquets, to gorgeous hanging florals and draping to go with custom lighting creating an unforgettable “vision.” As you ogle over the visual eye-candy on the pages of this edition of Bliss Celebrations Guide 2016, the creative details will be helpful in planning and designing your own spectacular and memorable wedding or event. And the best part is that all you have to do is contact the inspiring event professionals so they can do the same for you! Enjoy this issue! Wishing you a year filled with much joy, happiness, and remarkable and memorable events!

SOFT SAGE AND SHIMMERING GOLD
Modern gold metallic dĂŠcor and soft green and white florals harmonize with the historic architecture at Chapel Grille in Cranston, Rhode Island photographed by Sabrina Scolari
The Chapel Grille’s aweinspiring vaulted ceilings accented by hand-painted gold filigree stenciling and a gold mosaic tiled wall was the muse for this styled shoot. This striking backdrop juxtaposed with soft greenery and white blooms arranged by Rachael Sirois, of Farrissey Floral Design, achieved the perfect balance of sophistication and femininity. Delicate lace linens provided by Rhode Island Rentals complemented the luster of the gold vases and mercury glass votives enhancing the natural beauty of the dining room. Known for their culinary excellence, the talented chefs at Chapel Grille prepared a savory menu that catered to each of the seasons and included pistachio encrusted rack of lamb and raw oysters. A display of petite sweets featured Chapel Grille’s most popular specialties such as chocolate cake pops, seasonal tartlets, and mini cheesecakes—the perfect finishing touch for any event.

CRANBERRY, SAGE AND PLUM
Rich hues pop against the historic facade of the Stone House in Little Compton, Rhode Island.
With a view that looks out onto the vast ocean, Gillian and Bennett fell in love with the Stone House, and the colors of the stormy seas and the waves as they crashed ashore. Inspired by the ceiling at Grand Central Station, they found an antique star map which was used to design their invitation suite and inspire the rest of the décor. Wanting each fl oral arrangement to look wild, Gillian requested that florist, Semia Dunne, from Flowers by Semia, not use any white flowers. Instead, white linens were dressed up with vibrant arrangements of deep red dahlias, blackberry branches, and other greenery, in vases that were made by the groom. ”We worked a lot with our planner at Russell Morin Catering & Events to source local ingredients, grass-fed beef, local bluefish, and vegetables from local farms.

GLISTENING GOLDS AND CRIMSON REDS
Warm, rich tones evoke romance and grandeur at this traditional Hindu wedding.
After her first glance of the ballroom at the Boston Park Plaza Hotel, Anjali knew she wanted something grand, elaborate, and regal. Having no particular color theme in mind, she looked to event planner, Alexis Eliopoulos O'Mara, owner of Unique Weddings by Alexis to assist with all the details. Rich, crimson red and dark pink rose petals, and votive candles lined the aisle leading to the altar which was decorated with magnificent gold urns bursting with an abundance of red roses. In the reception space, similar arrangements of roses and draped crystals graced every table. Votive candles were scattered throughout the ballroom creating a warm, romantic ambiance. “The bold and rich color palette complemented by the twinkle from the crystal accents was the perfect fit for the bride’s

Colors of the sunset form a flawless color story for this early autumn wedding at 9OFS in Boston.
Nature provides us with breathtaking color stories every day, and it was the warm hues of the sunset that inspired the colors of this wedding at 9OFS. The ceremony took place outside on the terrace overlooking Boston's cityscape. Each bridesmaid wore a gown that represented a different color of the sunset. The team at SD Events worked closely with the florist to continue the color story through the floral design. Inside the event space, vibrant blooms in all shades of the sunset adorned every table. The couple concluded their ceremony with a French ribbon cutting—a unique tradition that represents the ability to tackle obstacles together as husband and wife. “Not only was that a moving addition to our ceremony, but it also gave us the opportunity to use big bold ribbons in our color palette to make the moment perfect,” Rebecca recalled.

VIBRANT CORAL AND RICH GREEN
Spring was in full bloom at this sophisticated Boston Harbor Hotel wedding.
Serena and Phil didn’t have a particular color palette in mind at the start of their wedding planning adventure. They put their trust in event designer, Edna Dratch-Parker, of EFD Creative - Event Planning & Design and the result was nothing short of spectacular. “I chose a color theory that refl ected the vibrant sophistication of the couple,” said Dratch-Parker. “Edna guided us along the way through all the details like flowers and linens and preselecting fabrics and colors that she thought we would like. Seeing the elegant design helped to solidify what we wanted our event to look and feel like,” said Serena. Guests were greeted by large glass pillars holding lush greenery and coral fl owers. Metallic elements combined with rose quartz hues and fresh greenery create a luxe ambiance at Aria.
Erica Powell of Reverie Gallery had a vision to design a wedding filled with over-thetop glamour that was both luxurious and romantic. ”I wanted to design a gorgeous ceremony area using Aria’s existing ceremony structure, a beautiful outdoor lounge area with flowing greenery, a formal table setting, and lots of unique touches throughout,” Powell explained. Bridesmaids wore full beaded evening gowns in varying silhouettes while the bride donned a blush pink gown featuring a beaded bodice and chiffon train. The vision: an intimate celebratory dinner on windswept dunes under the supermoon.
“For this project we drew inspiration from the natural and mystical, the earthly and celestial. The ethereal nature of the moonlit experience is grounded by the presence of naturally occurring elements of rock, bone and wood, explained Leah Kenney of Tribe Design + Events. Layered linens in varying textures of metallic gold silk covered an oversized table from Peterson Party Center. Organic elements such as various geodes, lavender, and weathered antlers were paired with modern white serving bowls and gold flatware. A pop of green was introduced into the color palette with a textured centerpiece of succulents and other ocean inspired flora. BLUSH PINK AND SOFT GOLD
A soft color theory created an ethereal vibe for this wedding at Willowbend Country Club on Cape Cod.
With pink being her favorite color, Arielle wanted to find a way to incorporate this hue while still keeping the wedding formal. Romantic shades of pink that fade into cream with touches of gold was the stunning palette for this summer black tie wedding. “Karen Taddei of Lilacs created the soft feel that I was hoping for in the flowers. It was her idea to add candles and to drape crystals in the centerpieces to really incorporate a romantic feel, Arielle expressed. For a fun twist, two different styles of linens were used on the tables, including a floorlength pink sequin linen that covered each cocktail table. A rose gold font danced on shimmery gold menu cards designed by The Pink Polka Dot and informed guests what they would be feasting on that day. From paper to

SEA GREEN, WHITE AND BLUSH
Seaside hues inspired by the shores of an intimate inn set a joyful and relaxing tone at this coastal wedding.
Most of Devon and Jason’s free time is spent at Devon’s family home by the sea in Rhode Island. Inspired by the tranquility and views of the inn, they decided on sea greens with pops of blush and white. Em Devaud of Em Devaud Events was key in bringing the color story to life by collaborating with Exquisite Events on décor and styling. “When I first met with the clients, they wanted a vintage seaside theme for their wedding. As planning progressed, they became drawn to that sea green color in particular, shifting the design and focusing more on the sophisticated styling of the colors,” Devaud explained. A gorgeous white Sperry Tent came to life with delicate floral arrangements and gauzy draping and created a sense of old world romance by the sea. Such details, paired

The table design was continued onto the walls of the event space with textured projections by Ormonde Productions. “The New Bedford Whaling Museum offers such a unique setting. The reception took place in the venue’s new addition overlooking the harbor. The views from the two decks were spectacular— it was the icing on the cake!” exclaimed the mother of the bride and event planner, Kathy Sheridan. These modern design pieces were combined with rustic floral arrangements reminiscent of the outdoor ceremony, which took place earlier in the day. ”Trying to merge these two styles of rustic and modern can be challenging, but our team was able to pull off the delicate balance of the two. Citrusy colors create a summer color story filled with sophistication.
Gardens, rich with texture and color posed as the perfect backdrop for Michela and John’s summertime wedding. Inspired by their love of succulents, Michela and John based their color palette on their dusty green hues. In addition, they both wanted a warm and vibrant touch of color that embodied summer, but wasn’t overly feminine. Growing up in a house with an orange kitchen, the bride naturally gravitated to deep tangerines accented with taupe. A large floral chandelier rich with texture and highlights of orange created by Winston Flowers, hung from the ceiling of the tent from Peterson Party Center. “Tori Samuel from Winston Flowers expanded upon our initial aesthetic and produced a really beautiful event. She was excellent at translating the raw ideas into reality by adding complexity and depth,” Michela raved. The Catered Affair

Perfect Peach and chamPagne shimmer A warm color story is woven into every detail of this autumn wedding on the shores of Cape Cod.
Embracing the breathtaking ocean views of their wedding venue, Tanya and Tony decided on a seaside romance theme for their wedding, with a twist. Forgoing the usual seaside décor of seashells and driftwood and color palette of blues and greens, they warmed things up with peach, coral, and shimmers of champagne hues. Event planner, Jen Chagnon of The Pink Polka Dot, coordinated every detail, and set the tone for the day by creating custom stationery and paper goods. “Jen worked tirelessly to coordinate my vision with the all of the vendors. She and the venue left no detail unrealized, down to the gold tones in our silverware and place settings,” Tanya raved. The bridesmaids wore bright coral adding an additional punch of color to the palette. Guests were provided with coral and peach pashminas to stay cozy and warm during this mid-October seaside wedding.

POPPY RED, SLATE AND NAVY Patriotic colors are a nod to the groom’s dedicated service to the United States Army in this wedding at Linden Place.
photographed by Emily Delamater
With the couple's wedding taking place on Flag Day combined with the desire to honor William’s service in the United States Army, the bride, Victoria, chose an understated patriotic color palette of slate and navy blue, with pops of light red. “We were drawn to the vintage, elegant feeling that comes from Linden Place,” Victoria explained. She also fell in love with the breathtaking rose gardens that Linden Place is known for. They were in full bloom on the day of their wedding, further enhancing her color story. Kim Lamothe, owner of Greenlion Weddings, Floral & Event Design created a lush bouquet of red and white blooms for the bride. The bridesmaids carried earthier bouquets of greenery with white flower accents. Blackstone Caterers served fizzy drinks and a delicious menu of items that also included the colors of the day. Guests enjoyed snapping photos in the VW photo booth bus which cleverly incorporated the couple's initials, V and W, into the festivities.

HUNTER GREEN BLUSH AND APRICOT
Glorious florals in hues of orange and blush harmonized with rich hunter green at this wedding at The Charles Hotel.
Starting with the bridesmaid dresses, Jennifer began the color story for her wedding. Each bridesmaid chose her favorite lace silhouette in the deep hue of hunter green resulting in a fun and flattering mix matched style for the bridal party. Next came the flower selection which she gave full design direction to the talented team at New Leaf Flores. ”We showed them pictures of my dress and the bridesmaid dresses and asked that the bride’s bouquet be the most neutral with the maid of honor and bridesmaid’s bouquets progressively getting darker. When the florists unveiled the bouquets the day of the wedding they were perfect,” Jennifer raved. Abundant summer blooms ranging from dark apricot to blush pink also filled the ballroom at The Charles Hotel creating

Earth tones enhance the inherent rustic beauty of Fort Adams in Newport, RI.
The picturesque scenery and dramatic ocean views offered by Fort Adams in Newport are beyond compare, which is why Jena and Billy chose a color story that would only enhance the natural beauty of this venue. Guests gathered at long farm tables covered with burlap linens and decorated with creamy white floral arrangements. “We were extremely lucky to work with amazing vendors and our fl orist was no exception. Kim Lamothe, of Greenlion Weddings, Floral & Event Design, immediately recognized our vision and ran with it. Old crates and moss took on a whole new life in our table settings and the gorgeous succulent boutonniéres stole the show,” the bride recalled. CERISE, SKY BLUE AND JADE
Tropical hues and a scenic shoreline set the tone for an intimate twilight wedding.
Surrounded by glowing lanterns, a weathered wooden table with a built-in fire pit glowed beneath a canopy of twinkling lights creating the ultimate setting for an intimate wedding dinner on the beach. Colorful glasses, air plants and printed napkins decorated each place setting and emphasized the laidback tropical vibe that event planner Amy Champagne, of Amy Champagne Events, envisioned. “The centerpiece of the table was fire which added a very distinct ambiance. We created a draping table runner using monstera leaves providing warmth and color to the tablescape, Champagne explained. The same leaves served as the inspiration for the colorful invitation suite designed by Coral Pheasant. SAPPHIRE AND PALE ROSE
Deep blue and soft pink infuse spirit into the rustic barn at this early fall wedding.
Drawn to the color of her alma mater, Dana knew she wanted blue to be the focal color of her wedding. Her event planner, Lindsay Mastroianno of Sixpence For Your Shoe, called upon the talents of Nichole Michel of Coral Pheasant Stationery + Design to set the tone for the day by creating a custom fl oral print. This print was an integral part of the event design—from the paper story to bridal fashion —and was also Dana’s favorite detail. The bridesmaids wore alternating solid navy and sapphire floral print gowns. The rustic interior of the barn came to life with white flowers and twinkly lights. “Shindig Lighting strung lights in a way that created a magical atmosphere; it felt like you were floating along the dance floor! The sconces they added perfectly highlighted the colors of the floral centerpieces at the tables and the floral accents we

FEAtuREd VEndoRs Inspired by the water and marine life surrounding them, Craig and Michael chose aqua blue as the main color for their wedding, and looked to their event planner, Edna Dratch-Parker of EFD Creative – Event Planning & Design, to help with the accent colors. Collaboratively, they chose burgundy tones which complemented the cool blues of the setting at the New England Aquarium. The reception space was filled with floral sculptures in rich warmer tones mixed with cream for added depth. “The colors we chose threaded themselves through everything. No detail was too small—from the save the dates and the stamps on envelopes to our signature cocktail (turquoise of course), to the table linens, napkins, and water glasses. TROPICAL CORAL, AQUA AND PEACH
Vibrant colors harmonize to bring a laid back island vibe to the Newport Yachting Center.
Newport, Rhode Island is a destination near and dear to Mark and Elise’s hearts since they were both raised in Rhode Island. They enjoy the city’s rich maritime history as well as its welcoming nature, and wanted to share that with their many out-oftown guests. The inspiration for their color story began with Mark’s proposal in Key West, Florida. Elise wanted to bring the laid back tropical atmosphere of the island to New England and did so by choosing a palette of coral and peach with pops of aqua. Bountiful, bright floral arrangements in vases of varying heights decorated the dining tables, while sweet arrangements in aqua mason jars graced the cocktail tables that overlooked the harbor. “Sayles, of Sayles Livingston Design was able to transform my vision into truly unique and spectacular floral displays. Valerie had originally envisioned a casual backyard wedding, so when she visited Newport Vineyards, and saw the large glass doors that open up to a patio revealing vast rows of grapevines, she knew she had found her venue. Newport Vineyards possessed that rustic and intimate charm she wanted for her wedding with its exposed duct work, woodwork, and wine barrels. Keeping the décor neutral, Valerie chose earthy arrangements of green and white florals, which complemented the airy 114

We wanted to be sure not to take away from the natural beauty,” explained Valerie. The bridesmaids wore long flowing gowns in hues a little lighter than the grapes themselves, a subtle nod to the event design. A sweet and cheerful three-tier “naked” cake adorned with real daisies was the perfect ending to a lovely day.

CLASSIC ELEMENTS UNITE WITH TIMELESS STYLE IN THIS TRADITIONAL WEDDING AT THE PRESERVE AT BOULDER HILLS For Nicole and Dave, choosing a venue for their wedding was simple since Nicole’s family owns The Preserve at Boulder Hills. Her father purchased the property a few years ago and transformed it into the only private sporting retreat in New England. Nicole and Dave worked together on the project from its inception and their wedding was the first one held on the property, making the day even more special. Envisioning a refined atmosphere, Nicole chose a neutral color palette. 126

Ivory striped linens covered square tables that were decorated with elegant, trumpet-based floral arrangements of hydrangea and roses created by Botanica Wedding Studio. Tall glass votive candle holders in varying heights warmed the space with their glow. “With ostrich and crocodile accented wallpaper, wood and stone bars, and a modern ballroom, The Preserve provided the pop of color and décor needed to liven up our traditional color palette,” Nicole described.

VINTAGE NAUTICAL
ANTIQUE TREASURES, A HISTORIC SEASIDE VENUE, AND DELECTABLE NEW ENGLAND FARE COMBINE TO CREATE A VINTAGE NAUTICAL WEDDING The Exchange Conference Center was the obvious choice of venue for the bride. “The ECC is right on the water providing the perfect setting for a nautical theme, and the building used to be the old fi sh auction site for the city,” she explained. Since Jessica is a chef with sushi as a specialty, it was fate! It was important to the couple that everyone had a stellar food experience. Guests feasted on New England style tapas along with many passed hors d’oeuvres. A lobster trap, anchor and rope details, and 128
blisscelebrationsguide.com 2 0 1 6
a color palette of navy, vermillion, and peach contributed to the nautical theme. For a meaningful touch, Jessica incorporated vintage mementos into the day and décor, including her grandmother’s jewelry, some nautical pieces from her great uncle who was a navy officer, and a 1940’s cake topper from her grandparents’ wedding. At the end of the night, comfort food was served in the form of corn dogs, grilled cheese batons, and whoopee pies. Guests went home with lobster cookie cutters and a belly full of delicious food!

TIMELESS ELEGANCE
MODERN LIGHTING IS PAIRED WITH CLASSIC FLORAL ARRANGEMENTS AT THIS 75TH BIRTHDAY PARTY HELD AT LOMBARDO’S. Lighting was a very important design element to the guest of honor, making Lombardo’s, with their own built-in lighting, the perfect venue for the celebration. The main stairway leading to the grand chandelier wowed each and every guest as they entered the ballroom. Soft lighting set the mood and the timeline of the event, transitioning seamlessly from dinner to dancing. Crystal chandeliers and gold place settings introduced brilliance and sparkle into the space while mirrored tabletops and mirage 130

clear chairs added a touch of modern style to the overall design. Gold vases in varying heights housed topiaries of white flowers and were surrounded with votive candles adding height and beauty to each table. A large ice sculpture carving of the number “75” and the words “Happy Birthday Bioca” was both festive and impressive. A midnight waffle bar and gourmet candy apple station capped off the lovely evening and sent guests home with full bellies and happy memories.

With their strong appreciation for culture and diversity, it was natural for this couple to plan a wedding that exuded elegance and sophistication. The style of their wedding developed organically after Katherine found her gown, a Monique Lhuillier made of textured silk organza. “When it came time to select the venue, I wanted something that reflected not only the softness of my dress, but also my husband’s love for structure, clean lines, and modern architecture. The Colonnade did that with its art-deco 134

style lobby, rooftop pool, and two modern ballrooms,” Katherine explained. The couple had their fi rst look in the lobby, then served savory bites to their guests before heading into the ballroom where the ceremony would take place. The ballroom emanated romance with its gold accents and soft lighting. Cocktail hour was held on the rooftop pool deck where guests could enjoy gorgeous city views before heading into the second ballroom to feast on a delicious meal prepared by The Colonnade.

THE NATURAL ELEGANCE AT BELLE MER IS ENHANCED WITH AN ALL-WHITE FLORAL DESIGN. Growing up constantly looking at her parents’ wedding album and admiring her mother’s enduring style, Ilia knew at a young age that she wanted the same timeless feel at her own wedding. She fell in love with the modern, crisp white canvas that the Water Salon at Belle Mer offers. “Our florist, The Secret Garden, was amazing and really brought together all of the elements I was envisioning. From the three different centerpiece concepts, to the escort card 140

table décor, to the hydrangea garland that hung behind the chairs of the sweetheart table, they nailed it! We could not have been happier,” Ilia exclaimed. Hints of gold were thoughtfully incorporated into the stationery as well as the cake. The most unique element of the wedding was the live event artist, who painted the couple dancing their first dance during the reception creating a beautiful piece of art that they will cherish forever.

Having just returned to Rhode Island from their private ceremony on a chartered yacht at sea amidst the British Virgin Islands, Michael and Lauren wanted to celebrate with family and friends at an elegant cocktail party. They sought out event planner Sandra Medeiros of Blair Events to curate the team of professionals to bring their vision to life. The Ballroom at Providence G was a blank canvas with vaulted ceilings and an all-white interior just waiting to be transformed into a sparkling oasis 142

of metro elegance. Ormonde Productions illuminated the interior with pink and purple lighting creating a luxe ambience. Countless candles in glass vessels of varying heights added warmth and intimacy, while rich red floral arrangements, designed by Flowers by Semia, infused the room with sophistication. The after party moved everyone downstairs to the Providence G Pub where guests sang karaoke, played pool, and of course, danced some more!

fter Denys proposed on the front porch of her family’s home in Hyannis Port, Louise knew she wanted to be married on Cape Cod. The Wianno Club was the clear winner for the venue and the couple couldn’t have been happier with their choice. With only one design request, lots of spring flowers, Louise left the rest to her florist and planner. Allison Wildes Liset, of Elegant Engagements, was an integral part of the process since Louise was living in New York during the planning stages. “We could not have lived without Allison – she knew every vendor and was able to work magic,” Louise explained. The clear top Chase Canopy tent was brought to life with an abundance of white flowers and spring branches which complemented the coastal views perfectly. “The pure joy on Denys and Louise's faces as they entered their reception and saw for the first time the cumulative effect of our elaborate planning, was so incredibly rewarding. The guests had so much fun they didn’t want to leave!” exclaimed Liset.

enna and Frank had visions of a black tie affair complete with lush flowers, twinkling stars, candlelight, and sparkling chandeliers. Blithewold Mansion, with its rich history and perfect dynamic of coastal and garden elements, fl awlessly combined the elegance and organic beauty they desired. Though it was a formal affair, Jenna and Frank wanted their attire to reflect their fun personalities. The women wore gowns in pastels varying from blue to green to blush while the men wore herringbone ties, anchor socks, and skull and crossbone suspenders. Food was also very important to them. “Wanting to give our guests a true taste of New England coastal cuisine, we chose Blackstone Caterers before we had even settled on a venue because of their commitment to serving local, seasonal fare,” Jenna described. Everyone had so much fun dancing the night away that the couple forgot to cut the cake resulting in a delicious treat for the after party!

Katie wanted her wedding to be reminiscent of an elegant party the original owners of the mansion would have hosted so she called on the talents of Exquisite Events and Flowers by Semia. “I described the theme of my wedding to Semia in a few minutes and she took over from there. The flowers were incredibly gorgeous and beautifully fragrant without being overpowering. They had the most enchanting soft scent of herbs that brought all five senses to the evening. These flowers made the event, and were the most beautiful collection I have ever seen,” Katie lauded. ourtney and Mike wanted a classic nautical wedding in Rhode Island as a nod to their New England roots and a reflection of their interests. They fell in love with the sweeping waterfront views that the Hyatt Regency Newport offered along with the ease of accommodations for their guests. Setting the tone for the event, the couple’s navy and white invitation suite featured an illustration of the Newport Bridge and the Hyatt’s lighthouse, and at the reception, the tables were named after Rhode Island lighthouses. The cocktail hour included a raw bar and, local favorite, Del’s lemonade — a big hit among the guests! “The Candita Clayton Gallery is an inspiring space with everchanging art exhibitions,” describes the gallery’s owner, Candita Clayton. Like a SoHo loft with weathered floors, high ceilings, and natural light flooding in, the versatile space is ideal for intimate weddings, celebratory dinners, baby or bridal showers, even cocktail parties! Kim Lamothe of Greenlion Weddings, Floral & Event Design created a table for the space with a slightly undone feel that complemented the oversized paintings which were full of color and texture. “We used all garden foliage from our gardens mixed with locally-sourced dahlias, ranunculus, heirloom roses and delphinium; then added deep-toned foliage of nine-bark for that beautiful offset color tone to make all the neutrals pop and pick up the deeper tones in the paintings,” Lamothe noted. The walnut infinity chairs from Peterson Party Center worked well with the natural tablescape and enhanced the beauty of the wood plank floors of the event space. 1

he Boston Public Library was the only choice for Kelly and Andrew to hold their reception. In fact, they chose their wedding date based on the availability of the venue. They loved the architecture and the amazing cuisine of the in-house caterer, The Catered Affair, but most of all, they loved that the library is a public place and one day they can show their children exactly where they were married. Kelly loves all things pink and glitzy, but she wanted the wedding to be classic and elegant. Her event planner, Nicole Simeral of Nicole Simeral & Company, helped her find the appropriate team of event professionals to make her dream a reality. Ivory metallic linens covered the long tables in the Reading Room. Each head table held an oversized floral runner, created by Lotus Floral Events in blush and fuchsia while the other tables featured tall glass vases bursting with branches and flowers in vibrant pink and purple tones. Purple and gold lighting danced across the dome ceiling while guests feasted on an amazing dinner prepared by The Catered Affair.

Enveloped by the balmy breezes of summer, Shannon and Dennis celebrated with natural and rustic flair.

Marrying their love for the outdoors with everything rustic chic, Shannon and Dennis chose to have their wedding under the shade of a Chase Canopy tent on a private farm. Event planner Wendy Joblon teamed up with Sayles Livingston Design to bring the couple’s vision to life. Twinkly lights intertwined with chiffon draping transformed the tent into an ethereal oasis of romance. Long farm tables were decorated with soft cream floral arrangements, and succulents and mossy covered tree trunk slabs added a dose of rustic chic that was seasonally appropriate. Savory cheesecakes, a specialty of Russell Morin Catering & Events, were served for guests to enjoy prior to the main course. “We thought every vendor did an amazing job, and we were elated with how Rebecca Arthurs captured the true love we have for each other in her pictures. Wendy Joblon did an amazing job decorating in collaboration with the floral designer Sayles Livingston. We were so happy with how everything came together,” Shannon raved.

rowing up, Trista had always admired The Mount, Edith Wharton’s home in the Berkshires. After discovering that the same architect that designed The Mount also built the Wadsworth Mansion at Longhill Estate, the bride knew she had found the perfect venue. Being a wedding coordinator herself, Trista knew the importance of choosing a color palette that would complement the interior design of the mansion. Each ballroom varied slightly in color. “One room had soft yellows, blues and gold and the other room had dark blue and gold, so that’s how I based my color choices. In the room with the bold navy blue, we used a navy, fuchsia, and gold palette. In the other ballroom, we used a softer one of gold, peach, ivory, and light pink. I wanted my color palette to complement the Wadsworth’s beauty,” Trista described. With all the details perfectly planned, the day went off without a hitch and photographers, Justin & Mary, captured the beauty of the event without missing a moment.

fter deciding on a November wedding, it was clear to Kristin that she wanted a comfortable, yet elegant atmosphere on her wedding day. She fell in love with the warm and inviting nature of the New Haven Lawn Club with its awe-inspiring chandeliers in the ballroom and the cozy fi replaces throughout. “I met with Christine Brush the first day I went to look at the NHLC with my mom and she ensured me she knew exactly what I wanted. When I walked into the ballroom with my dad, getting ready to walk down the aisle, I was so overcome with emotion because it was honestly the most beautiful sight I had ever seen. The breathtakingly beautiful ballroom, rose petals lining the aisle, the mantle covered with pillar candles, the cello and piano playing “A Thousand Years,” and of course the man of my dreams smiling at me — it was my dream come true,” Kristin described.

Drawn to the architectural details, warm marble tones, intimate rooms for cocktails, fi ne dining and dancing, and the in-house catering of Russell Morin Catering & Events, Nicole knew the Providence Public Library was the perfect venue for her wedding. “It was wonderful that Russell Morin Catering & Events appointed an event coordinator to help with the process. Alexandra was so helpful and went above and beyond for me,” Nicole said. The library already felt regal and romantic to Nicole, so it was important to her that it was enhanced with the event décor and not overpowered by it. Twinkling trees from Exquisite Events created a grand entrance to the dance space while floral arrangements in blush and ivory and sprawling greenery adorned every surface creating a secret garden-like atmosphere. The guests feasted on the delicious delicacies from Russell Morin Catering & Events then danced to the beats of Victor Events.

“During our first design meetings together Meredith, Ryan and I agreed that we would create a look and a feel that was clean, fresh, and fun with a dash of fuss,” Michele Mottola of Michele Mottola Events Consulting explained. They decided on a color palette of white, green, and black with a touch of gold. Mottola teamed up with Marc Hall of Marc Hall Design to create the modern floral décor comprised of large majestic palms, calla lilies, gypsophillia, peonies, and jasmine vines. Majestic palms in tall silver urns anchored the grass aisle leading up to the chuppah, bringing life to the clean, allwhite ceremony space. Modern floral sculptures sat atop contemporary-deco linens on each table creating a romantic tablescape with an organic edge. The ambience created by the event décor made it a fun, yet fabulous evening for all and truly channeled the witty personalities of the bride and groom.

t was a mist-filled day at Chatham Bars Inn for this summer wedding, yet the grey skies complemented the cool color palette and added a sense of coziness to the intimate celebration. The couple had dined at Chatham Bars Inn several times and were impressed with the impeccable service, food, and view, and they knew it would be the perfect venue. The bride herself is an interior designer so being familiar with color and texture, it made it easy for her to communicate her vision to event planner Tasha Bracken of SD Events. “This was a summer wedding by the sea, so I thought the shades of blues, whites, and greens would work perfectly. I loved being able to take advantage of local summer flowers such as blue and green hydrangea, and delphinium and was grateful to a local floral designer, Lilacs, recalled the bride.

he team of planners at AE Events had the pleasure of coordinating the design team for the 2015 Boston Ballet Ball. Each year the Boston Ballet selects an important dance performance to which the event décor and design is centered around. The 2015 selection was inspired by Lady of the Camellias, a ballet adapted from the novel by Alexandre Dumas. The Castle at the Boston Park Plaza was filled with rows of mirrored tables from Be Our Guest, which reflected the deep blue lighting above and set the ambiance for the night. Pillar candles in varying heights illuminated the delicate camellia and baby’s breath that graced every table. While enjoying numerous performances guests dined on a delicious dinner prepared by MAX Ultimate Food fi nished off with petite sweets. Mindy Home of AE Events described,“We had a dream team of vendors for this event. As a whole we worked together to make the Boston Ballet Ball an evening to remember.”

Having both grown up near the Connecticut shoreline, Courtney and Pete chose Saybrook Point Inn because of its gorgeous water and marina views. Inspired by the Saybrook Point Inn’s stunning marina setting and regal interior design, they chose a simple décor that would enhance the beauty of the space. Soft cream and white flowers adorned every surface while floating candles in long-stemmed crystal vessels exuded warmth and romance. The cream tufted dining chairs and gilded place settings added texture and a touch of glamour. Navy linen napkins coordinated perfectly with the bridesmaid gowns and incorporated nautical hints into the neutral palette. The bride was styled in a chic Amsale wedding gown from The White Dress by the Shore. Unbothered by the rain, the newlyweds shared some intimate moments outside on the marina’s dock captured by Carla Ten Eyck.

“Our inspiration for the design of this wedding was driven by the couple’s desire to create a magical, starry winter’s night. The grandeur of the ballroom, with its high ceiling and gold detail, was the perfect backdrop to Renee’s gold and white color palette preference and the use of trees and crystals to create the feeling of being in an enchanted forest,” explained event planner Janie Haas of Janie Haas Events. Each table held a breathtaking sparkly display of white floral branches, and was decorated with hanging votive candles emerging from tall frosted vases. The cool blue lighting designed by Suzanne B. Lowell added to the wintery ambiance while an abundance of pillar and votive candles created a warm feeling throughout the ballroom. “All of my vendors were exceptional. Marc Hall Design and Suzanne B. Lowell created everything that I was dreaming of, while it was all skillfully orchestrated by Janie Haas and captured by Corinna Raznikov and Artistic Wedding Films,” exclaimed the bride.

heika had always dreamed of a French themed wedding and wanted to incorporate romantic elements from the city of Paris into her celebration in Boston. The couple chose a venue with sweeping views of the Boston Public Garden and a ballroom that inspired a Parisian color palette, then worked with Exquisite Events to bring their vision to life. “From our fi rst meeting and throughout our wedding, they were there for us every step of the way. Stasia Anthony and Lauren Hellman went far beyond our expectations to make sure we were happy. They listened to how we wanted our wedding to be, then guided us to the appropriate vendors to make our dream a reality,” Sheika explained. Winston Flowers achieved the French theme perfectly by fi lling the ballroom with candles and florals in soft ivory and blush to create a romantic ambiance reminiscent of springtime in Paris.

uthentic and organic were the words Kimmy used to describe her wedding. She wanted everything to feel thoughtful, and carried out this theme in the décor, food and bridal attire. Round tables were dressed with white linens in cotton and lace and topped with arrangements featuring succulents and dahlias. Long farm tables were lined with verdant earthy runners of textural greenery and white blooms designed by Flowers by Semia. “I knew that Flowers by Semia would be one of my first stops on my vendor list,” Kimmy reflected. “I have always admired her amazing work and I knew that her arrangements would suit the décor. Her eclectic, textured arrangements and ceremony arch made of giant dahlias totally stole the show.” The bridal party’s attire was mixed matched in the most unpredictable, yet cohesive way. One bridesmaid even wore a jumpsuit! Guests feasted on fresh, locally sourced cuisine completing Kimmy’s authentic and organic theme.

n intimate affair with a laid-back atmosphere was the main objective for this couple’s wedding. Vanessa and Lauren wanted their guests to fall in love with Portland, Maine just as they had. Vanessa, a graphic designer and owner of Two Paper Dolls, designed all of the paper products, giving guests a peek of what they could expect for the day. Rustic elements, such as wooden farm tables and metal chairs from New England Country Rentals, weathered frames, and wooden barrels, were juxtaposed with soft, textural flowers. Each bride donned a beautiful floral crown, and their chairs at the sweetheart table were dressed with cascading arrangements. Candice Coppola, of Jubilee Events, sourced all of the talent for the day ensuring that every detail was perfect. Everything came together flawlessly, creating an ethereal summer getaway for all in attendance.

or the couple that appreciates grand architecture, literature, and old world charm, a wedding at the Redwood Library & Athenaeum in Newport, RI is a dream come true. Filled with old portraits and marble busts, this venue is rich with history and culture. Francesca Campo of Campo & Company Events was the visionary and planner of this styled shoot. Utilizing many items from her personal collection of art as well as old leather-bound books, she created vignettes at each place setting that spoke to the aesthetic of the library. “I liked that each guest got an elegant little cake for dessert with their very own gemstone and organic garnish. Each guest’s place card had their name and the name of their gemstone and its properties,â€? described Francesca. hoosing New Year’s Eve for their wedding date, Juliette and Noah felt compelled to maintain a certain level of formality while still keeping it playful. To set the tone for the event the invitations read, “black tie optional, dancing shoes required.” The bridal party certainly listened, each member strutted into the ballroom at The Ritz-Carlton, Boston Common wearing Nike sneakers. Being mindful that many of their guests traveled from overseas, the couple placed small alarm clocks at each table which were set to go off at midnight in the countries and states represented at the wedding. The soft color palette of grays and pinks was illuminated with votive and pillar candles throughout the ballroom. “The Ritz-Carlton, Boston Common and Winston Flowers were absolutely phenomenal on the décor front—on all fronts actually, but certainly the décor front. We loved the idea of a candle-lit ceremony and reception, primarily for the warmth and sense of intimacy that candles create,” recalled Juliette.

Bountiful botanicals fill the gilded ballroom, terrace and grounds at Rosecliff Mansion creating a gilded elegant garden-like oasis.

Justin & Mary the Weddings
Rosecliff Mansion was built at the peak of the Gilded Age. The Baroque Revival architecture and sweeping ocean views, set on perfectly manicured grounds, influenced every detail of this stunning inspirational wedding photo shoot. A vintage settee decorated with blush sequin and white ruffled pillows sat in front of an elegant stone fountain at the front of the mansion, setting the tone for this sophisticated affair. The stone terrace with breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean was transformed into a beautiful floral oasis created by Sayles Livingston of Sayles Livingston Design. Livingston filled the space with 1 2
a plethora of flowers—peonies, dahlias, and hydrangea. A boxwood wall draped with flora served as the backdrop for the white tufted bar, where specialty cocktails were served. A giant twinkling tree, from Exquisite Events, was dressed in florals and hanging votives, and served as a segue into the ballroom. Filled with detailed architectural elements, Rosecliff Mansion’s ballroom was the obvious place to serve dinner. The sweetheart table was encased within a golden trellis decorated with hanging flowers and a candelabra chandelier, creating an intimate space for the new couple and their bridal party. The adjacent dining room with views of the garden was the perfect backdrop for the magnificent 6-tier cake, which was meticulously decorated with gilded gold and exquisite sugar flowers by Ana Parzych. The ornate attributes of the day also inspired the attire for this gorgeous affair. The bridesmaids in fanciful gowns in varying fabrics and shades of pink, flower girls in playful pink tulle skirts and floral crowns, a striking groom in a black tux, and lastly, a blushing bride in an intricate lace ball gown, were all styled by Beth Chapman of The White Dress by the Shore.

For a twist on the traditional baby shower, Semia Dunne, owner of Flowers by Semia, and her team transformed her studio space into the perfect place for girlfriends and family to gather to celebrate their friend (and fellow floral designer) Michelle, before the arrival of her second child. The industrial space was softened by candlelight and draped in an abundance of flowers, leaves, and vines. “While the event was technically a baby shower, we really chose to make it more about Michelle. Our aim was to provide her with a wonderful evening 1 2
surrounded by only the closest family and friends, her favorite foods, and the most gorgeous surroundings we could make with our own two hands,” said Dunne. Foraging local greenery like autumn clematis vine, porcelain vine, and bittersweet, the team decorated the walls, windows, and even an intimate lounge area in hues of dusty blues and greys, greens, smoky purples, and creams. No detail was overlooked. The farm tables were set with mixed ceramic plates and copper chargers from Peterson Party Center and a delicious menu from The Grange. A decadent dessert bar was full of autumnal treats from Sweet Indulgence, and homemade sangria flowed all evening. It guaranteed that guests left happy and satisfied. Dunne raved, “When throwing a party, it’s very rare that you actually execute every last detail that is on your wish list. Inevitably you run out of time for something. This is the first time in my life that everything I wanted to accomplish design-wise was actually achieved.” With her extensive resume of beautiful floral design—that’s really saying something.

splendor photographed by Lea St. Germain
Antique nautical elements combined with the natural beauty of the ocean are only some of the highlights from this intimate styled wedding photo shoot at Wequassett Resort and Golf Club
on Cape Cod.
the vision Always in awe of the sea and sand, Karen Taddei of Lilacs chose a color palette of white, grey, soft blue, and subtle hints of blush for this styled event. Held at the water’s edge on the shore of the Wequassett Resort, a low farm-style table and rustic lobster net were embellished with abalone shells in silvery grey and pink opalescent tones, vintage zinc flower pots with a dark patina, and white pillar candles, all surrounded by an industrial iron chain. Unexpected touches such as antique collectibles: binoculars, a compass, and mother of pearl opera glasses were added to the table as accents to the centerpiece. elements and bringing a romantic airiness to the table. The etched crystal glassware from Be Our Guest, vintage oyster dishes, and white milk glass chargers ensured that each course was plated beautifully. Dessert was just as luxurious as the tablescape. Sweets were served on a rustic bar cart, a rescued item from an old thread factory on the Cape, and featured a delightful spread of cookies and pastries that looked like seashells from The Artisan Bake Shop. A towering cake brushed with gold and silver was also surrounded by petite sweets in antique boxes. Further down the shore, a billowing fabric structure sheltered a lounge complete with wicker furniture, plush pillows and fur throws, and a driftwood table by Ryan Designs provided a place for guests to relax. Suspended above, a lustrous capiz shell chandelier cast a warm glow on the table where a coral-filled compote dish and an arrangement of air plants complemented the natural beauty of the beach. No detail was overlooked for this elegant affair. 3 242

When you start with a venue as ornately detailed and grand as Glen Manor House, it can be hard to get the décor to steal the show, but Candice Coppola and her team at Jubilee Events did a spectacular job of making every detail stand out. “We started with the chinoiserie pattern, which reminds me so much of New England, and paired it with fun textures like boxwood, leather, and Lucite,” explained Coppola. “Those additional textures gave the photo shoot a masculine edge.” With not one, but two grooms, the challenge became how to 1

and tastes. And no detail was overlooked: from the
while still conveying their individual personalities expertly styled mahogany bar cart from Be Our Guest that displayed the multi-tiered cake from Something Different Cake Couture to the gorgeous chinoiserie chandelier over the bar created by Ryan Designs, each theme and texture was incorporated into even the smallest of details. The bridal party’s attire was also lovely thanks to the incredible taste of Beth Chapman from The White Dress by the Shore. Grecian inspired dresses and minimal bouquets with lots of greens were universally flattering. The grooms were impeccably outfitted as well, with patterned suits in a dapper mix of navy and black. It was truly the combination of textures and an appreciation for minute details that made this an occasion to remember.

the VISION
The early twentieth century art collection and architecture at the Harvard Art Museums inspired floral designer Marc Hall of Marc Hall Design and Nilda Martin of Reserve Modern Event Rental to create a sumptuous after the chase themed rehearsal dinner. “The evening blurred the distinction between new and old world,” Hall explained. “Modern furniture and couture design elements paired with Renaissance inspired food and flora.” 1

Tables were covered with luxurious linens ranging from quilted silk in game prints to crushed velvet in rich reds from Table Toppers, while the bride and groom accessorized with a fur stole and a feather bow tie. The grazing table was decorated with an elaborate display of food and floral sculptures, where a mouth-watering roast was surrounded by colorful root vegetables and decadent cakes prepared by The Catered Affair. An impressive artisan copper bar with an antler-mirrored backdrop from Reserve Modern Event Rental introduced metallic elements into the theme. Adjacent to the bar, an event lounge which comprised of sequoia tables, a gilded crown chair, contrasting animal hide rugs, and a collection of curiosities such as skulls, horns, and feathers completed the design.
