MARBLE TESSERAE COLLECTION
As part of a two-thousand year tradition, pieces of marble are selected for colour then cut with a traditional cutting hammer and hardie, they then get softened through a sand polishing process that retains the unique dimension of each tessera while leaving a characteristically smoothed and varied surface. Through a direct method they are skillfully laid out in patterns and mortared to a solid marble slab that is grouted and polished before being installed into a heavily forged iron frame. The outcome is a distinctive homage to the enduring style and material strength of the Roman Empire.
