COUPLING BOLUNGARVÍK RETHINKING THE ICEHOUSE


This catalouge is a model study of the renovation of the Icehouse, a disused shrimp factory in Bolungarvík, Iceland. The Icehouse was built and extended through period 1929-1980 and represents the life & work in Bolungarvík, the rise & decline of the fishing industry that contains layers past processes. These photos explore the new & old materiality Light and space. Use of the new program for the innovation center and how the building can represent life & work again in Bolungarvík in this desolated building.

The Icehouse becomes a part of the new square

The desolated part of the production space built in 1980 is revitalized with a new skin to the existing structure
