Reasonable accommodations are individualized techniques and resources used to enhance program participation without fundamentally altering a program.

How to request reasonable accommodation:

1. When you register, mark “yes” in the inclusive service request section. At least two weeks notification prior to the registration deadline for each program is required. In some cases reasonable accommodation may take longer. 2. Request and complete an inclusion questionnaire. 3. The Leisure Companion Program is a service in which participants with disabilities are partnered with a volunteer companion who provides additional support during participation in inclusive activities. The level of support varies according to the specific needs of each individual. Leisure Companions are also needed to assist participants in Inclusive Recreation programs. To be partnered with a Leisure Companion, register for activities of interest and request a reasonable accommodation. Leisure Companion volunteer hours are supervised by a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist. For more information, contact the Inclusive Recreation Specialist at 349-3747. Fall is Great for Sowing Wildflower Seeds

Learn all you need to know about planting wildflower seeds this fall for an easy, more productive wildflower garden next spring-whether you have a small patch in your yard, or an acre you no longer want to mow. Fall planting mimics the way seeds grow in the wild, allowing winter’s freezing and thawing to help seeds sprout when the timing is right. Fall seed planting also allows gardeners a more relaxed planting schedule, avoids tricky spring weather, and helps wildflowers outcompete spring weeds. The course rests on 200 acres of beautiful rolling hills with native trees and natural topography. Named for the natural cascading waterfalls located throughout the golf course property, several waterfalls can be heard, and with a brief walk off the perimeter of several holes, can be seen from the course. Individual or group golf lessons may be scheduled with our on-site golf pro by calling 349-3764. Cascades offers amenities to meet the needs of any golfer. Leagues are offered for all ages and a concession stand. Beer and soft drinks are available for purchase from concessions. Indiana Alcohol & Tobacco Commission regulations prohibit individuals from bringing their own alcoholic beverages onto the golf course. Fairway Improvement Project Cascades Golf Course has, since 2018, undergone a fairway improvement project to replace its Kentucky Bluegrass/rye fairways with Meyer Zoysia. The Ridge Course was the first, with 37,000 square yards of fairway replaced with Zoysia in 2018, followed by an additional 37,500 square yards on the Quarry Course in 2019 and 46,920 square yards on the Pine Course in 2020 to finish the project. Zoysia grass has many advantages over traditional grass mixes: It requires less water to thrive, grows well under drought conditions, requires fewer chemical applications to maintain, and golf balls play more cleanly off Zoysia. The Clubhouse The Clubhouse at Cascades Golf Course boasts a towering ceiling and a room surrounded by floor-to-ceiling windows with views of the driving range, putting green, and rolling hills of Cascades! Overhead doors on the southeast wall can be opened onto the attached patio (47' × 19') in nice weather, expanding the available space for your next gathering. A warming kitchen and restroom are both located inside the Clubhouse. The Clubhouse is available for rent by the hour or by the day. Rent the Clubhouse in conjunction with your golf outing, or as a stand-alone venue. Kayak, canoe, and stand up paddleboard rentals are available seasonally at Griffy Lake boathouse. To protect wildlife and visitors, all dogs must remain leashed while in the preserve. Nearby Ferguson Dog Park (4300 N. Stone Mill Rd.) accommodates dogs off-leash. For more information, call 349-3700. OPEN 5 a.m.–11 p.m. daily Switchyard Park is a 65-acre park located on the city’s south side. The park is a culmination of decades of planning, as both city leaders and residents saw the potential of an abandoned railroad switchyard to become a destination park for people of all ages and abilities. Completed in November 2019, Switchyard Park at the onset required substantial remediation of coal ash and cinders, the result of the property’s historic use as a railroad switchyard. Bloomington citizens had unprecedented input into the creation of the park, and into the selection of park amenities. The park straddles the city’s B-Line Trail, a 3.1-mile former railroad corridor that provides an avenue for transportation to and from the park and surrounding neighborhoods, and for economic development in the form of restaurants, housing, art galleries, and other businesses.

Amenities include:

• basketball court • 4 pickleball courts • 3 bocce ball courts • skate park • fitness stations • community gardens with 39 raised beds • open greenspace • stream and wetland • performance stage with lawn seating for 5,000 • Pavilion indoor event space • picnic shelter • shaded bosque seating • Community Foundation Switchyard Plaza Spray Pad • 4.7-acre dog park with fenced areas for large and small dogs • paved, accessible trails around and through the park • 3.1-mile paved, accessible B-Line Trail through the park • vehicle parking lots at Rogers Street, Grimes Lane, and Walnut Street offer a total of 400+ spaces

All classes are 30 minutes in length and each session is eight weeks. In addition to class time, each skater is allotted 30 minutes of ice time for independent practice. Details on practice time will be given during the first week of lessons. Registration fee includes skate rental. Classes begin promptly at the listed times. Please arrive at least 15 minutes early to put skates on. Non-registered individuals are not permitted on the ice at any time.
