BREAKFAST IN THE CITY
They say it’s the most important meal of the day, setting the standards for the day ahead. If you believe in breakfast then this guide to London’s most desirable early morning eateries will get you off to the best start.
Dean Street Townhouse Located in the heart of creative Soho this traditional dining room combines vintage armchairs, hard wooden floors, and cut glass chandeliers with a menu that includes British breakfast favourites. It’s largely classics on the menu: eggs every conceivable way, porridge, cereals, eggs benedict and full English. Scots will be delighted to find Lorne square sausage and tattie scones on the menu.
202 Café Sitting in the centre of one of London’s most stylish shopping district, 202 London combines modern eating with fashion and retail. This is a trendy Notting Hill café that delivers glamour, style and a sumptuous breakfast. Not immediately obvious from the street the café is disguised by a boutique shop, but once settled in you can enjoy all the established favourites plus some unique additions.
Breakfast: Weekdays: 7.00am–11.30am Sat & Sun: 8.00am–11.30am
Breakfast: Tue-Sat: 8.30am–12.00pm Sun-Mon: 10.00am–12.00pm

The Wolseley Here the high ceilings, busy chatter and chink of crockery will whisk you away to a bygone era. The renowned breakfast menu contains all the old favourites plus some interesting additions. For example kedgeree, caviar omelette or haggis with fried duck eggs are not typical breakfast options. However, The Wolseley creates a sense of occasion where you might well be tempted to try something different.
Balthazar The original Balthazar was opened in New York City in 1997 with Balthazar London opening in 2013. Located in the heart of Covent Garden it’s an all day French style brasserie that serves breakfast on weekdays and brunch at the weekends. The menu has American influences with pancakes, waffles and eggs benedict. Also, for vegetarians there is a tasty alternative to the usual full English breakfast.
Hawksmoor Guildhall According to GQ this is the best power breakfast in London. Known for its fine steaks a Hawksmoor breakfast is primarily a meaty affair. Located near Guildhall it is the perfect place for business executives to enjoy a hearty breakfast before a long day in the office. Whether it’s a 250g rib-eye with fried eggs and hashbrowns or Manx Kipper and poached eggs this will be a wholly satisfying way to start your day.
Electric Diner Adjacent to one of the oldest cinemas in London and downstairs from the Electric House, The Electric Diner opens at 8am for breakfast and switches to the all-day menu at 12pm. You can snuggle into a cosy leather-lined booth or people watch from the stools in the front window, whilst choosing a breakfast that varies from avocado on toast to the traditional full English.

Local Resident he cosmopolitan district of Notting Hill in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea is famous for many things notably the annual carnival and the film of the same name starring Julia Roberts. It has in recent years grown to be a fashionable area for young people and has a vibrant nightlife with some of the best music bars in London. It quite uniquely possesses a bohemian spirit within a formal and affluent setting. Its close location to the famous Portobello Road Market makes it a highly desirable place to visit for shopping as small shops and stalls selling jewellery, antiques, clothing, art and souvenirs of London line the area.

P
imlico is known for its grand garden squares and impressive Regency architecture. It could hardly be more central, with Westminster Abbey for a parish church and Tate Britain for the local museum. You can walk to Soho in 20 minutes plus with its own tube station on the Victoria line and an abundance of buses it is very well connected. The area is separated from Belgravia to the north by Victoria Railway Station, and bounded by the River Thames to the south, Vauxhall Bridge Road to the east and the former Grosvenor Canal to the west. Pimlico has seen extensive regeneration in recent years with the introduction of exclusive restaurants and residences giving it an interesting and vibrant social mix.

ayswater borders the north of Hyde Park over Kensington Gardens and is therefore a picturesque district and a popular spot for those touring the city. Bayswater Tube Station is the gateway for many visitors to this borough. From here a multitude of cafés, bars and restaurants can be found. This is also the most densely populated area for hotels with many of the striking stucco terraces providing tourist accommodation. A diverse community gives the place a cosmopolitan edge whilst its proximity to the Marble Arch and St Sophia’s Cathedral provides a hint of its historic past. Victorian terraces line the area with immaculate garden squares and well-kept streets making it a highly desired place to own property.

LOL LAUGH OUT LOUD
London has the biggest and best comedy scene in the world. If you are ready for a laugh and a good night out then the choice is wide and varied right across the city. To help you decide on a venue we have hand picked some of our favourites.
The Comedy Store This famous club first opened its doors in 1979 above a strip club in Soho. Nowadays, The Comedy Store experience is a far cry from the cramped conditions of The Gargoyle Club where comics were forced to change in a broom cupboard and relieve themselves in a sink. Nestling in the heart of London’s West End, it is the city’s busiest comedy venue with over 3500 people passing through its doors every week.

Leicester Square Theatre LST is a magnificently restored theatre located in the heart of the West End with two exceptional spaces featuring cabaret, dance, music and theatre as well as comedy. The 400 seat theatre is for the big name performers with two bars and newly-installed cinema style seating. The more intimate basement area has a capacity of up to 70 with a bar and cabaret-style seating that hosts mostly comedy acts.
Live at The Chapel Live At The Chapel has been running since June 2007 and is uniquely located in a working church, Union Chapel. It is one of the biggest, most dramatic comedy clubs in the country. Over the past few years everyone who's anyone in British comedy has featured here including Ed Byrne, Noel Fielding, Stephen Merchant, Josie Long, Russell Howard, Mark Watson, Reginald D Hunter, Simon Amstell, Stewart Lee, Tim Key and many more.
Downstairs at the Kings Head Founded in 1981 by Peter Grahame and Huw Thomas, the club now present shows throughout the week that champion the best of comedy.
