Rebecca explores female identity, desire and mortality, raising questions about gender and representation. She works in afigurative manner, inspired by mythology and Vanitas painting. In depicting female bodies, the artist reflects on where the line between the feminine divine and the monstrouslies, what is desired and what is taboo for society and for women themselves. She underlines naturalaspects of womanhood such as menstruation or giving birth, offering a balance between very personal matters and many stereotypical beliefs. Rebecca’s images are a combination of her own vision and thoughts from her female sitters.
