The first foals of Champion Stayer The Chosen One will arrive shortly, and the tough Gr1 winning racehorse won on debut as an early three year-old, winning a Listed race at his second start. In the autumn he showed his talent, winning the Gr3 Manawatu Classic, then heading to Australia where he ran fourth in the Gr. 1 Australian Derby then won the Gr3 Frank Packer Plate. Back at four, he stayed in Australia for the spring, racing only in group company, and won the Gr2 Herbert Power Stakes. The Chosen One returned to New Zealand for the autumn of his four year-old season, running third in the Gr1 Otaki-Maori WFA Stakes behind super mare Avantage, then headed back over the ditch where he ran second in the Gr1 Sydney Cup.
At five, he was set a similar campaign, and won first up in Melbourne before running third in the Gr1 Caulfield Cup and fourth in the Gr1 Melbourne Cup. More Gr1 placings came later in that season and the next, before he broke through for a well-deserved Gr1 win in the 2022 Gr1 Thorndon Mile. All up, he won seven of his 43 starts and won or placed at Gr1 level on both sides of the Tasman on eight occasions.
A son of multiple Champion Sire Savabeel, The Chosen One joins the likes of Embellish, Cool Aza Beel, and Noverre at stud.
