The Scituate Open Circle Program was funded during the 2014/2015 Community Grant cycle with CHNA 20 supplying $5,000; 25% of total funding needs. PROGRAM: Open Circle is an evidence based social emotional learning curriculum for students in K-12. GOAL: Open Circle aims to increase students' pro-social behaviors, reduce students' problem behaviors, and facilitate students' adjustment to middle school. AUDIENCE: The program reached 16 teachers, 20 support staff, 3 administrators, 3 peer certified coached and approximately 1,350 students in the first year. COLLABORATORS: Scituate FACTS Coalition, Scituate Public Schools, Open Circle OUTCOMES: (Examples) -94% of students surveyed felt, "Open Circle helped them with having empathy for others." -88% of students surveyed felt, "Open Circle helped them recogniz e bullying." -84% of trained educators participating in a program evaluation survey responded, "The Open Circle training was relevant my professional growth and that the training
material was immediately useful." SUSTAINABILITY: The program will be sustained in Scituate for the 2015/2016 school year to approximately 1,350 students. To find out more about Open Circle please click here.
