Banquet of Dreams Comes Full Circle Music Hunter is teaming up with Hands Heart and Feet for a second year of the family-friendly Banquet of Dreams end of year celebration in Blackheath, with Circle of Rhythm already confirmed on the percussive line-up. Heralded as Australia’s most exciting rhythm trio; Greg Sheehan, Bobby Singh and Ben Walsh have between them changed the face of percussion in Australia. After ten years of defining and redefining what Australian drumming can offer the world they have formed a percussion trio with a difference, rich in culture from the various styles all three dynamic performers have spent their lives exploring. This group is the result of years of collaboration together through many different groups such as, Pablo

Percusso, Utungan Percussion, Skin, Dha, The Bird, Taal Vadya to name a few‌ From the high energy, fast paced drumming styles of Japan and Polynesia to the ethereal and spiritually uplifting sounds of India, this ensemble boasts a full spectrum

of styles and instrumentation that are aimed at delighting your senses. Melodic and rhythmic, you can count on all things percussed with mastery as each member has dedicated their life to the study of the drum. Dec 9 at Blackheath Community Hall, tix on sale Oct 1.

The Seeing and Feeling exhibition (above right) opens in September at Gallery 188, featuring Central Coast photographer Brad Page and sculptor Rachel Bunney. Brad says “With my background in commercial photography, lighting has always been a big part of my career. This exhibition is about admiring the human body using light and shadow”. Collaborating artists, Valerie Ingham and Karin Smith create impressions of the human body through canvas and metal castings. Reflecting its beauty, exploring movement, connection, and heat. The exhibition Corpus Momentum (Chrysalis - painting by Valerie Ingham shown left) opens October at Gallery 188 in Katoomba.

Blue Mountains artist Jennifer Wright is also known around town as The Artful Imagineer, and presents her first solo exhibition ‘Colourful Imaginings’, a whimsical journey of colour and imagination, giving you the opportunity to step back inside your childhood’s mind and become lost in a carnival of colour. After a lifetime of creative pursuits Jennifer began painting in 2012, selling her art immediately to art lovers worldwide. Working mainly on commissioned works she has taken time off in the last few months to create the artworks in this exhibition. jennifer says, “My inspiration comes from my imagination and my surroundings. Living amongst nature in the beautiful Blue Mountains is definitely a plus for me. This exhibition for me was all about painting a selection of artworks that I wanted to paint instead of painting what I’ve been asked to paint. I love colour, I love where I live and I love life and I think my art is evidence of that.” Sept 16 at Gallery 188

SAMA (Street Art Murals Aus) emptied hundreds of spray cans on their biggest project to date. The entire installation spanned 42 days, involved 7 artists who played the role in both prepping the surface and painting a mammoth structure that stands at 6,500 sq meters in total! Commissioned by Seqwater on a bulk water reservoir located at Green Hill Reservoir, Indooroopilly, QLD - the brief was to work with the Yr 7 Art Extension Class at Indooroopilly State High School to create a design that would deter vandalism. Emily from SAMA says they have their eyes on the Springwood carpark next!

The Waves

by Melanie de Boehmler

Twelve nights ago,I had a dream So real, I felt awakened In the skys, in the skys ten buildings high the waves, they were arisin’ I stood there with my head bent in awe at it’s great splendour. No one could run from deeds once done tis’ time to meet our maker.

back

But I survive though I don’t know why just to see the terror-rising In their eyes, in their eyes

as the tide did rise and swallow all of mans making Once more though, I did awake to find the water it was still creeping Over lands, over lands where we once did stand fought wars in faith of keeping.

36

“Good-bye,good-bye” too late to cry for the tide it was still rising Not satisfied, ‘til every sign of sinful children’s playin’ is washed away, to clean the slate ...My death though, still delayin’ so that I might see, the misery on faces blind to payin’

the cost, the cost of chances lost, and taking it all for granted A paradise, it was provide How could we be so ungrateful? Now forced to run for deeds once done against our own creator.

As the tide, as the tide does surely rise to swallow our terror-rising
