What made you want to be a fashion designer? What made me want to be a fashion designer was when I was little, the first play I was ever in was called The Swan Princess. I got to be this one princess in the play and basically they told me that I could be the swan princess the whole time and I had picked out like the most bomb is outfits for each day of the swan princess and then on the last day I get there and they took my me I can’t be there for his. Also my love for clothing has been there my whole life. What were your favorite styles growing up? My favorite styles growing up have to be anything acid wash - anything I could get my hands on that was different. I don’t remember a specific style; just being different and liking different things. Who were you favorite fashion designers growing up? Betsey Johnson ! She’s so amazing! I first got obsessed with her when I went to a boutique in LA when I was about 15 or 16. I got this amazing purse with cheetah print, a Marilyn Monroe face, and gold lips. It was adorable; I wish I still had it. :( Alexander McQueen also gave me life ! I remember seeing the Alexander McQueen exhibit in NY at the Met and it really changed my life. His clothing was art and it was displayed as such. It was beautiful, interesting, and I loved the colors. Who is the first person that you styled? I don’t think I styled anyone until I started my line and started coming up with different aspects of clothing that I liked. I really enjoyed manipulating the clothing to make it what I wanted; that’s what can make things interesting - always playing off colors and patterns ! My favorite person I’ve styled so far was Brandi Cyrus. She is so cute and hilarious. We’re you obsessed with styling barbies growing up ? Yes I loved cutting up Barbie clothes and using them as material for other things. A lot of times I used random things as clothing. How old were you when you developed a sense of style ? I’m sure I began to really enjoy clothes around the end of high school - really getting into colors and patterns and structure. I also really loved wearing stuff in my hair.

When did you start your first clothing line? I started my first clothing line when I was about 20 years old, I think. Thriftqueened really took on a completely different approach than I could have ever thought. When I first started it I really just wanted to make cool things. I loved making hats and that’s when I really began to want to design and get into revamping and remaking clothing. Now Thriftqueened is turning into more of an art collective - we do fashion shows, art events, pop up shops, and fashion editorials. Now more than anything I really want to turn it into a place to connect artists. What is your favorite part of designing? My favorite part of designing has to be the creative process from the sketching to the actual making of the garment. The end product is always exciting to see because it never quite turns out the way you think. What what are some of your favorite fashion memories? My favorite fashion memories have to be all the photoshoots I’ve done. Shooting is my absolute favorite thing to do in the world. My fiends that have been in my shoots really give me a lot of inspiration. Who are your favorite designers today? What region inspires you? London, Paris, Etc... My favorite designers right now have to be Thom Browne and anyone in that realm of craziness. Gareth Pugh, ect. Regions that inspire me are Spain and France. I can’t wait to move to France one day LOL Who are your biggest supporters? My family and friends have been huge supporters of my work. They really love what I do and for that I am grateful. What are some of your accomplishments in the industry so far? LA fashion week and getting into Vogue and Elements magazine have been some of my greatest accomplishments thus far. My favorite accomplishments include team efforts of everyone who has ever been involved in these projects ! What are your plans for the future for designing? I hope that I can grow my fashion network to be big enough that I am able to pursue different suits of

designing - I hope to be a well known designer for my innovative work. I think that I can bring a different light to fashion and I hope to portray those qualities as equally as possible. What was your vision & what are your goals to accomplish with your new line? I hope that I can start to bring awareness to the systems that flood our American airwaves and social media. I feel that people are very wrapped up in material things in our generation, and our lives are on social media and I hope to bring to light the negative qualities in our generation; to start conversations about how we can work to chamber these things. That’s really what Marauders is all about - how can we change for the better ? Let’s take our creativity back. I really want to make menswear and unisex wear. Sure it’ll develop over time, but for right now it’ll be mostly men’s clothing. It’s been a passion of mine forever and I can’t wait to show my work. What aspects if any do you dislike about the fashion industry that you’ve experienced so far? What are your worst experiences? The fashion industry is very racially biased and out of control right now and a lot of models are feeling this. Girls becoming victim to horrible diseases like anorexia and bulimia (amongst other things) are the negative things about the industry that we need to work to change. My worst experiences are just on projects that didn’t work out for the benefit of both parties - I’ve also receieved a lot of flack in the industry as well as a lot of people taking advantage of me. It’s up to every individual to keep their integrity and show people how to treat each other. Do you have a team & how did you find them? I feel like at this time in my fashion journey I am very blessed to have people around me that support my work. The photographers, models, make up artists, and hair artists are the people that make all of this possible and they create the image. What advise do you have for upcoming stylist & designers? I say work hard and be yourself! Do your own thing ! Don’t let people talk down to you and work hard to chase your vision.
