BLYTH FESTIVAL – OPENING 2013 Season Press Release FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE BLYTH FESTIVAL MAINSTAGE SEASON BEGINS! Blyth Festival, June 07, 2013 – If you have been to Blyth lately you’ll have noticed a slight increase in population. Not to worry, nothing has been added to the water, it’s just the seasonal migration of actors, technicians, designers and volunteers making their yearly summer stop in the Village. We have already put them to work, but they start earning their keep this week with the remount of last season’s smash hit musical, Dear Johnny Deere on Thursday, June 13th. When asked about the success of the production, Director Eric Coates explains “It’s the songs themselves. They are just so visceral – they hit you in the gut.” The audience can really connect and identify with Eaglesmith’s lyrics, “they leave the theatre thinking they’ve heard these songs… for their entire lives.” Ken Cameron has combined the infectious music of Fred Eaglesmith with characters, you know from the towns and fields of Huron County. Coates could only gush about the “actors [and] performers who play all these instruments themselves.” From one song to the next, these talented actors and musicians seamlessly transition from piano, to mandolin, to guitar – all the while singing and acting. And you thought multi-tasking didn’t exist on stage? Dear Johnny Deere is back to amaze audiences for only two weeks. You will fall in love with the music, the characters and even the John Deere B Tractor. Tickets are moving quickly and you won’t want to miss Dear Johnny Deere at the Blyth Festival, June 13 to 22!
