Wake Forest Reservoir
The Wake Forest Reservoir was created as a drinking water source for the town in the early 1960s. Shortly after the City of Raleigh utility merger, the water plant was taken off line, but limited operations are still in place at the reservoir. You can still see some of the water plant structures on site. Today, the lake is open for paddle and electric powered boats. Hikers can explore the 1.6 mile trail which follows the west bank of the reservoir. The driveway to the lake is located off of Traditions Grande Boulevard near Wait Avenue. There is a small concrete boat ramp adjacent to the parking area.

Upcoming Events Trung Thu Moon Festival
Join us in celebrating the diversity of Wake Forest at the inaugural Trung Thu Moon Festival! Tet Trung Thu, as it is known in Vietnam, or the Mid-Autumn Moon festival as we refer to it in America, is customarily held on the 15th day of the 8th lunar month and is one of the two most important festivals in the Vietnamese culture. Steeped in tradition, this ancient celebration revolves around children and is thought to be a time when parents had the opportunity to catch up with their loved ones after the busy summer harvest was completed. Families will enjoy learning about the Vietnamese culture through music, stories, dance, arts and crafts and food. The event will conclude with a children’s lantern promenade. 5:30–8:30 pm

Facility enhancements are underway
T
he Town of Wake Forest broke ground on two major improvement projects in spring of 2018. Both projects are financed by voter-approved bonds from the 2014 Bond Referendum.
Northern Wake Senior Center
The renovated Northern Wake Senior Center will include the addition of exercise and multipurpose rooms.
The new Joyner Park Community Center will blend with the natural habitat of the park.
The Northern Wake Senior Center, 235 E. Holding Ave., offers adults age 55 and older a full schedule of recreational activities. To meet growing needs, the Town of Wake Forest is expanding the facility. Focus Design Builders has started work on the project which includes the addition of exercise and multi-purpose rooms and the replacement of the roof. The renovated senior center is expected to reopen to the public in 2019.
Joyner Park Community Center
Barnhill Construction Co., a contractor working on behalf of the Town of Wake Forest, has started the initial phase of construction on the Joyner Park Community Center, located in E. Carroll Joyner Park, 701 Harris Road. Park visitors are advised that walking trails in the vicinity of the construction site have been closed out of concern for public safety. No trespassing signage is posted prominently throughout the work zone. Officials are strongly urging area residents to obey the posted signage and avoid the construction area. Designed to blend in with the park and natural habitat, the new 32,000-square-foot center will feature a walking track, gymnasium for basketball, volleyball and pickleball, multi-purpose rooms, dance studio and kitchen. Projected for completion in 2019, the facility will be constructed in a manner consistent with the park’s natural beauty and rustic feel.
