Happy New Year! 2017 began with some new changes to our venue. We are thrilled that the two buildings are now connected on the inside and the classrooms in the Arts Annex have new carpeting and tile. More renovations are in store for January 2018, but until then we have a jam-packed year of spectacular theatre performances, live music concerts and other exciting cultural events. Our line-up begins in February with acclaimed actor and playwright Mike Wiley presenting Tired Souls: The Montgomery Bus Boycott. This one-man theatrical production introduces audiences to fellow heroes and heroines including Jo Ann Robinson, Claudette Colvin and others instrumental in the Civil Rights Movement who changed the course of U.S. history. This production and others in our new Arts for All series (which are free and open to the public) are made possible with funding from the United Arts Council of Raleigh & Wake County. Forest Moon Theater (Wake Forest’s Community Theater) will continue their season at the Renaissance Centre with the thought-provoking and powerful drama Agnes of God. Their annual youth production Anne of Green Gables opens in March and they will finish up with The Curious Savage in June. Our live music series, Rockin’ The Forest, picks back up in February with Sarah Shook & The Disarmers. Rolling Stone magazine named Sarah Shook & The Disarmers one of the “10 new Country Artists you need to know”. Be sure to also catch 6 String Drag at the March concert. April will be full of both comedy and soul! The Blackpack’s “All Laughs Matter” comedy show hilariously chips at the walls of racial and social stereotypes. Simultaneously funny and thought provoking, The Blackpack celebrates our differences, one joke at a time. And for our first venture into the realm of R&B, we felt nothing but the best would do! Join us as 2015 Grammy Award Winner, Mike Farris and the Roseland Rhythm Revue offer a unique blend of music and soul that includes blues, rock, jazz and R&B. We look forward to serving this wonderful community in 2017! Feb 20 | 6:00 pm All area residents are invited to attend Wake Forest’s annual State of the Town Address & Dinner. The occasion offers Wake Forest citizens the opportunity to reflect on the town’s list of accomplishments during the previous year and learn about its goals in the coming months. SPONSORED BY: Wake Forest Rotary Club and the Town of Wake Forest Tickets: $15; Anyone not interested in eating dinner is welcome to attend the State of the Town Address without purchasing a ticket. Non-ticket buyers should arrive between 6:30 and 6:45 p.m. at the conclusion of the dinner portion of the program. The mayor's address is expected to begin between 6:45 and 7 p.m.

She performs with “a sneer, a bite and no apologies.” The band’s album Sidelong was ranked #2 in the Triangle’s best albums of 2015 by The Independent Weekly.

Apr 7 | 6:30 pm The Renaissance Centre is proud to host a special screening of Wake Forest’s own Uptone Pictures production of Destiny Road. Based on the book Three Lives One Destiny by R.R. Soares, the film follows three people as they journey through the challenges that life throws at them. In the end they learn about forgiveness, redemption and faith. The film was shot in various locations in Raleigh and Wake Forest. The evening will begin with a cocktail reception at 6:30 p.m. Free appetizers and snacks will be served. Join us as 2015 Grammy winner Mike Farris and The Roseland Rhythm Review perform the Soul of America. A true musical renaissance man, Farris’s southern heritage and rich talent allow him to offer a unique blend of music and soul that include blues, rock, jazz and R&B. Songwriter Mary Gauthier states, “Out of the arms of defeat Mike Farris has done a victory lap... He takes people who are hurting, who are broken, who think they are alone and through just the sound of his voice he lets them know that they’re not…that’s magic.” For his efforts, Farris also won the prestigious Americana Music Award for Best New & Emerging Artist and a Dove Award for Best Traditional Gospel Album of the Year. About the Centre Mission
The Renaissance Centre for the Arts is dedicated to inspiring, engaging and educating the community through a variety of cultural arts programs. Through theatre, concerts, film screenings, workshops and related events, the Renaissance Centre offers enriching art experiences that bridge cultures, generations and disciplines.
Our Story
In response to the community’s increased demand for cultural programming and entertainment, the Town of Wake Forest purchased two properties in downtown Wake Forest for the purpose of developing a cultural arts facility. The Renaissance Centre officially opened in November 2013 with a three-day Celebration of the Arts extravaganza. Located in the heart of Wake Forest’s Renaissance District, the centre contributes to the economic growth and quality of life in our region by encouraging a flourishing arts community.
Versatile Venue Offering 5,000 square feet of meeting and event space, the Renaissance Centre can be configured to accommodate a variety of rental needs. Amenities include convenient parking, box office/reception area, Grand Hall with 4,700 feet of expo or gathering space, bar and staging area for caterers, LCD projector with automated screens and monitors, and free wireless internet. Also available is a 535 square foot stage and dressing rooms. Smaller breakout rooms are available in the Arts Annex next door.
