The Renaissance Plan Update builds on the original study conducted in 2004. Over a decade ago, a plan was developed to provide policy and programmatic recommendations for the revitalization of the historic downtown. Additionally, it proposed a number of realistic development opportunities for the heart of the Wake Forest community with the goal of creating
a more vibrant community for all who visit, work, and live in Wake Forest. Some goals and strategies were completed and some are still a work in progress. The Great Recession in the mid - late 2000s also drastically impacted the way we think, live, plan and spend. Several key public and private investments have occurred since 2004, and we are seeing a renewed interest and vibrancy in downtown Wake Forest.
