RESOURCES FOR GRIFFIN FAMILIES The Shelter in place order issued by Governor Polis in the spring helped keep people safe during this global pandemic. However, one downfall from this was the economic fallout from the uptick in business closures. We are all doing our best to learn from the past and ECA wants to make sure our families are well equipped in the event of a second wave. We have compiled a list of resources for those who may need them. Don't hesitate to reach out to tcordrey@ecarvada.org for assistance. We are here to help.

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
THE CLASSROOM; AN INCUBATOR OF SUCCESS TODD CORDREY 720-473-4403 TCORDREY@ECARVADA.ORG
I came across this article of a flying car and was intrigued. In 1886, cars were invented by Karl Benz and became one of the greatest inventions of the 19th century. With the development of the assembly line, the 1908 Model T by Henry Ford was the first car in mass production for the middle class. In December 17, 1903, Wilbur and Orville Wright made four brief flights at Kitty Hawk with their first powered aircraft that started the international aviation industry. Today there are over 1 billion cars, 400,000 airplanes, and in 2021 the flying cars will be ready for production. I was struck by the metaphor of the flying car and our transition to the remote classroom. The remote classroom and the flying car share many similarities. They each entail an understanding of new physical and social laws. They each require the operator to be proficient with multiple technologies, instruments, and tools. Finally, they each offer the possibility for greater efficiently, utility, and success. In our remote classroom we strive to capitalize on the safety and access of online learning while also realizing the engagement and active learning of in-person instruction. This has been no easy task and has taken us time to build the necessary skills for excellence. As a team, we have worked together to support each other in the process of growing proficiency in our new environment. We also are appreciative our students for being resilient and for their parents for being our offsite classroom managers. The pandemic has brought us together teachers, students, and parents with a shared mission to educate ECA Griffins. As we move into the next phase of the pandemic, I have all the confidence in the world that ECA and ECA Griffins will find ways to be successful. Together, we are the Early College of Arvada and we embrace our motto of WE CAN AND WE WILL.

FINISH THIS SEMESTER STRONG JANICE ANDERSON JANDERSON@ECARVADA.ORG
I hope that all of our families had a pleasant Thanksgiving holiday. I know that many of us are looking optimistically into the 2021 year. Our team is working very diligently with the state and governing organizations to do all that we can to return to in person learning in the next semester. Please keep your eye out for information about the second semester that will be released by the end of next week. I know that this semester has had significant challenges, and I am so proud of all of our students efforts. As parents, please remember to check IC and encourage your student/s to end the year off strong. I have had the pleasure of sitting in on many classes and I know that or teachers have been reminding students how to end this semester strongly. We have 2 more weeks left and I believe in every student and know that they can continue to rise above and do well. As we are heading into this holiday season, I want to wish all of our students and their families a happy and healthy holiday season.

Final immunization notices will be distributed this week. Students who are non-compliant are subject to being withheld from school beginning Monday, December 7th. Parents/Guardians of students who will be withheld from school until they are compliant with state required immunizations have been notified. Attendance will be changed in Infinite Campus by our office staff and students will be marked unexcused. Unexcused absences will count against a student's grade pursuant to the Parent-Student Handbook. It can be as simple as completing a waiver if your student is currently noncompliant with his/her immunizations. Please contact Julie Ramsey, Operations Manager/Health Aide, at 720-473-4409 or jramsey@ecarvada.org.

THE IMPORTANCE OF TIME MANAGEMENT Alejandro Reynoso EARSS Advisor Office: 720-473-4406 Cell: 720-980-1129
Welcome back Students, I hope that everyone had a fantastic and restful fall break. We are getting close to the end of the semester, and time management could be a great tool to be successful in these couple of weeks left. Every person in the world has the same amount of time in a day: 24 hours. But “Time Management” helps a person utilize the resource of time, which cannot be reclaimed once it is lost. As an antidote to feeling overwhelmed and out of control, time management allows one’s life to flow at a manageable pace.

Despite all of the challenges this year we are hard at work on Prodigy, our movie musical that will premiere in March 2021. This show is the story of father and daughter cello prodigies who struggle with depression. The show celebrates artists and honors those who deal with mental illness through poignant storytelling and a beautiful message of hope. We encourage you to get the help you need if you're struggling during these trying times. Talk to someone, journal, find creative ways to do the things that bring your joy. This is a great time to make art that's just for YOU, paint a portrait no one will ever see, sing at the top of your lungs in the shower, dance in your backyard to the sounds of the birds chirping. Keep making art my friends, because it matters. We are also proud to announce that our Timbergriffen YouTube Channel will be hosting a virtual Rocket League tournament, December 11th from 4:30 to 7:30pm. This will be a private unlisted event, in order to view you will need link access, email apollo.downie@ecarvada.org to get on the list to view the tournament.
