RESOURCES FOR GRIFFIN FAMILIES The Shelter in place order issued by Governor Polis in the spring helped keep people safe during this global pandemic. However, one downfall from this was the economic fallout from the uptick in business closures. We are all doing our best to learn from the past and ECA wants to make sure our families are well equipped in the event of a second wave. We have compiled a list of resources for those who may need them. Don't hesitate to reach out to bmazza@ecarvada.org for assistance. We are here to help.

CONGRATULATIONS CLASS OF 2021 JANICE ANDERSON JANDERSON@ECARVADA.ORG
It is so hard to believe that we are at the end of another school year. I am so proud of all our students' determination and perseverance as we pushed through another challenging year. Although I know that many of us want to return to "normal", I find myself wondering what normal is any more. There are so many things that may look different just because we have learned so much from this pandemic. We will continue to take precautions as a community until this pandemic has been fully resolved. We will spend much of the Summer planning for the return of all students in person, and how that will look moving forward. I would like to take a moment to celebrate our Senior class. This year we have students graduating with more college credits than ever before. We have several students graduating with more than 70 credits. Our students have been accepted to Vanderbilt, the University of Colorado, Colorado State University and the University of Northern Colorado, just to name a few. We are so very proud of the Class of 2021! None of these accomplishments could have happened without the love and support of our community and our families. Thank you. Parent involvement and support is such a critical part of all student learning. For this reason, we are rebuilding our Parent Teacher Organization. Please see the announcement of the upcoming PTO meeting in the newsletter with the date and time of the meeting. With a strong PTO we can help our students and our school in many ways. Please help us create a strong group of Parents to support ECA and our students. May 3-7 is Teacher Appreciation Week. Please help us celebrate the amazing men and women that help educate our students. See the Teacher Appreciation Flyer for ways to celebrate our teachers throughout the week. Let's let our teachers know how awesome they are! As this is the last newsletter for this school year, I would like to wish all our families a restful and relaxing summer and we look forward to seeing you all back for the 2021-22 school year.

HEALTH UPDATE JULIE RAMSAY JRAMDSAY@ECARVADA.ORG
Hearing & Vision screenings will be conducted the week of April 12th at ECA in conjunction with Children's Hospital of Colorado. Students who fail one or both screenings will be sent home with the appropriate referral to be checked by a practitioner and designated ECA staff will follow up. Please be sure your child brings his/her glasses, hearing aids, contacts, etc. If you need assistance obtaining these items for your child who is in need of them, please contact Julie Ramsey at jramsey@ecarvada.org or call me at 720-473-4409. Parents' Top Questions About Coronavirus (COVID-19): As the coronavirus pandemic endures, emergency approval of the first COVID-19 vaccines has provided much-needed hope. Though this is welcome news, we can expect many more months of pandemic life. As consequences of the coronavirus continue to impact families and children in myriad ways – physically, mentally, socially, and emotionally – it’s time to double down on efforts to prevent the spread of the virus and help kids cope while vaccines are deployed across the country and globe. We asked several of our experts to answer parents' common questions about the respiratory illness, what we can control and all the ways we can continue to prevent the spread while supporting each other. UPCOMING PROGRAMS Alejandro Reynoso EARSS Advisor Office: 720-473-4406 Cell: 720-980-1129
Hello ECA families, This is the next project the EARSS program is doing for our High school students. The University of Denver chapter of Sigma Lambda Beta (SLB) is partnering with the Early College of Arvada (ECA) to work with the EARSS students. The first two meetings will be a meet and greet, so students from ECA and SLB can build a relationship with each other. From there SLB and Mr. Reynoso will facilitate workshops and a mentorship program with students. Goal: The goal of this partnership is to encourage and motivate students to have good grades and think about secondary education. We want students to be able to gain an understanding of college life and the academic needs to be successful in college or any other career pathway. We want students to understand that each person has a different journey, but everyone should persevere.

=Thank you all so much for an incredible year of the arts even under the worst circumstances. I am so incredibly proud of every student who worked, performed, consulted or attended any of the performances we were able to do this year. Prodigy was absolutely lovely, you can still go listen to our cast soundtrack on our Timbergriffen Theater Company Youtube Channel. The week of April 19th we did three nights of live-streamed radio plays that went swimmingly! If you missed those performances you can watch all three nights on our Youtube channel as well. Extra special thank yous to our guest artists who joined us this year, Brandon Metoyer, an up and coming actor and performer in the Denver community, Jack Tyler an ECA alumni now at CU Boulder for Musical Theater, and Paul Campbell, a radio veteran who works with the Upstart Crow Theater Company. Next year is going to bring some major changes to the Arts at ECA programs as well as our Timbergriffen Theater Company. Some changes already taking place include the Instagram account ILove_APiano will no longer be an official Timbergriffen account, it will be the professional account for Ms. Graham. So public Timbergriffen stuff will remain there, but audition announcements or other internal marketing will no longer be there. To stay the most up to date on all things Arts at ECA and Timbergriffen related follow us over on Facebook - Timbergriffen Theater Co. We are currently circulating a survey about possible changes for next year, if you have not yet gotten to participate in that survey and would like to, you can take fifteen minutes and answer the survey here: https://forms.gle/KzBBYHsKEjcYgFcT8 Thank you all for an incredible year, I look forward to the next new chapter with you all

ECA and Colorado COVID update Colorado Covid cases are steadily decreasing and are likely to continue as the weather gets warmer. Adam’s County positivity rate is at 6.9%, which is still high, but is slowly decreasing. Jefferson County's positivity rate is 6.1% which is also slowly decreasing. ECA has been in person since February and will continue to do so for the remainder of the school year. Students and staff must continue to wear masks, social distance and sit 6 feet apart from each other The good news is that vaccinations have opened to everyone 16 and up. Check out this handy guide HERE that provides a list of locations giving vaccinations and how to book an appointment. According to the CDC, fully vaccinated persons can hang out, no masks required. Fully vaccinated persons also are no longer required to wear masks outdoors, unless it is a crowded area such as a venue. Remember that you’re not fully vaccinated until 2 weeks after your second dose (or first if you receive the Johnson & Johnson vaccine). Governor Polis has revised the mask mandate put in place almost a year ago. Under the proposed changes, counties that have reached the level green on the map located HERE do not have to require masks. Adams, Denver, and Jefferson counties will likely continue to enforce masking to protect others until infection rates decrease. You can also view what each counties restrictions include HERE
