SECOND SEMESTER REMINDERS JANICE ANDERSON JANDERSON@ECARVADA.ORG

Happy 2022! It is hard to imagine that we are halfway through another school year. We are looking forward to continuing to offer students a safe, healthy and conducive environment to help all students learn to the best of their abilities. In order to do so, we need your help. This letter has a lot of important information, so please make sure to read through it all carefully. It is vitally important that all students come to school on time, by 7:55, every day to ensure that they are not missing any valuable learning. Please remember that three tardies are considered an absence and can directly impact your student’s academic progress in various ways. We know that the weather has finally begun to change, so please take that into account. Should a school closure be necessary we will notify you via email, text and/or phone and will announce it on Channels 4, 7 and 9. Also, please remind students to wear appropriate winter clothing for recess. As an additional reminder, should the temperature be 20 degrees or colder or if it is raining or snowing students will be allowed in earlier or not be allowed outside for recess.

On Tuesday, January 4th final grades for the first semester will be posted to Infinite campus. Please celebrate your student’s successes and encourage them to do their best COVID continues to offer many challenges in our community. It is critically important that we are on the side of caution at the first sign of any symptoms. The current guidance for COVID continues to be ever changing, so we advise that you call us and provide the symptoms in order for us to help walk through the most current protocols. This is of the utmost importance to ensure that we can provide consistent in person teaching throughout this semester. In addition, we will continue to provide in school testing and we highly encourage all students to test weekly. Plus, the state is providing students with a $25 debit card for their first test, that will have $10 additionally added each time after for additional tests. Please help us keep all students safe and COVID free by testing weekly, and earn some free money. Use the following link… or fill out one of the forms available at the front desk. We are beginning our re-enrollment and enrollment campaign for the 2022-23 school year. Please look for our re-enrollment survey that will be sent through Infinite Campus this month. It is important to fill it out as soon as possible to ensure your students spot for the next school year. Enrollment is very important to maintaining a strong budget that allows us to provide all the opportunities that we can for every student’s unique academic path. Therefore, this year we are going to be launching a very aggressive campaign to encourage new student enrollment. Each of our grades have a capacity of approximately 50 students, so it is important that you hold your spot. We will also be asking our families to help refer friends and family members to our school and will be offering various incentives. est this semester. We know that at ECA “We Can and We Will” succeed if we just try our best.

Counselor Corner BRIDGETTE FOSTER BFOSTER@ECARVADA.ORG

We are halfway through the school year and our Juniors will start preparing for college applications soon. Here’s two amazing resources students should continue to take advantage of while preparing for their future.

SEL

SEL stands for “Socio Emotional Learning”, and ECA’s SEL program is an integral part of our curriculum. Just like stretching before a workout, SEL is a preventative measure with the goal of preparing students for life’s inevitable stressors. Skills such as distress tolerance, critical thinking, and building relationships are not only necessary for developing personal identity, but for effectively interacting with others and the larger community. Like a physical workout, student’s practice and build strength in these areas of the brain, ultimately fostering self-awareness, grit, and resiliency. SEL skills are essential, and are proven to help students reach their academic goals as well as reach an overall sense of well-being. College/Career Counseling

Each student at ECA graduates with a “post grad plan”, meaning an idea of what they wish to pursue after graduation. Applying to College or Trade School is strongly encouraged, but our Counseling Department believes in meeting our students where they are at.

REMOTE LEARNING JULIE RAMSAY JRAMSAY@ECARVADA.ORG

Dear ECA Families, We know how challenging remote learning can be for everyone and we are so sorry that we had to do this last minute. We have several staff members that have tested positive and with staffing shortages throughout the state we could not secure substitutes nor do we have enough personnel to provide adequate supervision unless we transition to remote. Please know that everyone's safety is our top priority. At this time, we will be remote learning until Wednesday, January 19th. It is essential that students participate in their classes so they do not fall behind. Teachers will be doing Google Meets, or Zoom classes that will be communicated through their Google Classrooms. Students that have yet to access their Google Classrooms need to simply log into their email account to find Google Classrooms and accept invitations to their different classes. Here are a few things to keep in mind for the next few days: Students who have left devices in school may pick up equipment starting at 7:45 a.m. tomorrow morning only. Students must check Google Classroom for remote logins and all work and information about classes. Classes will follow the regular scheduled times. Teachers will take attendance within the first 5 minutes. Students will be marked present by logging into live classes and showing their faces by using their cameras - on time. Students MUST participate in class. Students/parents communicate with teachers about individual situations that involve modifying timelines. Monitor your student for symptoms. If your student is showing symptoms, please test them and inform the school about any and all illness including symptoms and test results.

As a reminder, we will still be following the school calendar, so there will be no classes (not even remotely) on Monday, January 17 and Tuesday, January 18th. See you back on campus on Wednesday, January 19th. Remember that Mobile Health will be on campus the morning of January 19th to provide free rapid COVID testing to staff and students. Students must have a parent or guardian sign the consent. The link to the online consent can be found HERE. Hard copies are available at the front desk but not until we are back on campus so if you want your student tested Wednesday, please complete the online consent. Hard copies will need to be returned to Julie Ramsey. Mobile Health will continue with their regular Monday morning testing January 24th. We will communicate updates through email, text, Facebook and our website. Please continue to check in for changes and updates.
