Co-Working Office Tower
Columbus, Ohio Junior Studio, Spring 2019 || Partner: Carrick Reider
This building is located in the heart of downtown Columbus, contibuting to the urban fabric and city skyline with a stong geometric form. Using a variety of glass, this co-working tower reflects the city around it while also using transparency to highlight its scattered sky gardens, shared work environments, and two storey slide. Providing a variety of workspaces and breakout areas, this project questioned life in a traditional office tower and created an environment full of energy, light, and new experiences to discover amonst co-workers.

Columbus, Ohio Junior Studio, Spring 2019
Located on Ohio State University’s West Campus, this new research tower proposes a new approach to high rise construction. Rather than traditional construction that erects columns, then inserts floor plates, and walls to create volumes, the new Energy Research Facility stacks programatic volumes and utlizes floor plates to create interstitial study spaces.

Sliding the lab volumes about a central circulation core allowed framed views of campus, roof top gardens, and vast atriums. In addition to the required program, a microbrewery and cafe were added on level one and level nine, respectively.

Arcadia Academy Columbus, Ohio Junior Studio, Autumn 2018
This Elementary School is located between High Street, one of the most heavily trafficked roads in Columbus, and a deep wooded ravine, creating a design problem that called for privacy as well as protection. The Arcadia Academy uses its unrolled circular form to create a hard barrier against High Street, while wrapping around to form an interior courtyard that proctects the students of the school. Featuring classrooms for grades 1-6, dedicated rooms for the arts and sciences, an elevated library, and a cafeteria space that sinks into the topography, this school provides views of the ravine, while encouraging activity and exploration for students of all ages.

Dance & Performing Arts Center
Sophomore Studio, Spring 2018 This theater project was designed to explore large scale programmatic space and circulation between performance areas. Highlights of the project include a large atrium, experienced best from the lower lobby, and two dramatic sets of circulation that bring audience members and theater staff through the split atrium to the various performance spaces. This Performing Arts Center features a main theater which shares a stage between two seating areas, a roof top garden, and a full service bar on the upper level.

Home and Studio Franklinton, Ohio
Junior Studio, Autumn 2018 This Live/Work project is designed on a prominent street corner in Columbus, Ohio’s Franklinton neighborhood. Located in an up and coming area, this two unit home was designed to accomodate two young professionals and their families, while providing a common work space in between. A heavy timber framing system drives the structural integrity of the home, while the exterior is clad with a lattice light screen to increse privacy on the lower level, while also creating a play on light. Features of the home include: shared and private balconies, an architectural drafting room, and framed views of downtown Columbus.

Spade House
Oak Ridge, Tennessee Sophomore Studio, Autumn 2017 Crafted as a retreat house in the Tennessee countryside for Kate and Andrew Spade, this house includes three terraces which look out into the nearby smokey mountains. Designed about a structural grid that organizes the interior and exterior spaces, the Spade house creates an open plan to entertain guests and clients alike. By engaging the topography, this house is able to provide uniquely framed views of the landscape to each room. Spade House

Poche Pavilion
Objects in Space
This project explores the separation of spaces through a series of vaulted rooms, all enclosed within a regulated bounding box, inspired by the Pavilions of the Venice Biennale. This pavilion, which subtly dips into the river, creates a waterfront loggia, accessible by canoe on the lower level.
Serving as an introduction to interior and exterior boundaries, this shell used paper to safely package three toys that would be launched into outer space. The smaller shells housed a lightsaber, rubick’s cube, and X-Wing Star Fighter, while the larger, outer shell held them in place as the objects moved through zero gravity

Stack City
Knowlton Fashion Schau
Designed to catch the breeze due to its location at a prominitent corner on the site, this project spun around about ball bearing plates to exhibit dynamic sectional qualities. Measuring 10 feet wide and 12 feet tall, this project captured the attention of every passerby and served as a remarkable entrance into the student designed Hypostyle Hall.
For my dress, I used thermoformed polystyrene to mold a 4’ x 4’ sheet of polystyrene into a geometric form. The dress met the Schau’s theme of “Sculpture,” as the plastic maintained a soft, yet rigid shape, while referencing sculptural properties of classic marble statues. The design reached the competion’s top ten.
