Minutes of the January 16, 2016 Business Meeting BMW Riders of Western Colorado Inc. President Brad Hoy called the meeting to order at 10:00. There were 13 members and one guest present. Officers Reports: Treasurer Orrin Beckner passed around a summary of club income and expenses for 2015. This analysis reveals that the club received $3453.00 in income and spent $3790.30 for a net cost for the year of $358.72. The current bank balance is $4137.35. Vice President Dwayne Hall had no new business. Secretary Jeff Smith received a big Attaboy for developing the new website. Suggestions for the website include adding a ride calendar. Brad Hoy will send Jeff ride information for this page. Brad is tentatively scheduling midweek rides for Thursdays and one weekend ride after the meeting. A group ride to the Trials competition near Canon City is on the agenda. Mark Lickers son, a visitor to the meeting, suggested using “square” to process credit cards online. Members thought that adding these features to the website for both member renewal and rally entries was a good idea. Adding a blog page for the Alaska trip was also suggested. Mark Lickers will send Jeff his Alaskan summary. Jeff will work on adding these features to the website. Jeff will show Kerry Dolan how to edit the website and give him administrative privileges on the website. New business: Bill from Grand Junction BMW/KTM parts, asked the club what he could help us with. Tires were the biggest request and although Bill’s tire prices are already low he will try and get an additional discount if the club buys at least 10 sets of tires. Get your request into Bill or to an officer. Bill is also closing out the Schubert helmets he has in stock at heavily discounted prices. Joe Branson mentioned a camping trip planned for April 19-20 at 3 Steps Hideaway near Lasal Utah. It is $22/night for camping. Information contact Joe. Rally: Rally Master Gary Campbell reported that the dates for the Thunder Mountain Rendezvous have been confirmed and we have a contract with Delta County for September 23-25, 2016. He suggested inviting the KTM guys for chili on Friday night. Gary would like someone from the Alaska trip to organize photos and use them for a presentation about the journey for the rally attendees Friday night. Gary thought an organized lunch ride would be the group activity this year. Gary will do chili Friday, and Jeff and Christina will do the Saturday night meal. Joe Branson loaned Dwayne a video titled “Hyder Fever”, about the town in Alaska. Alaska trip: Mark Lickers passed around an outline for the group. Mark has a house in Haines and the group could use it for base camp. The group agreed on a departure date of June 11. I wrote “through August 2” in the minutes for the trip duration although members of the group may split into smaller groups and return sooner. The meeting was adjourned at 11:30. Alaska 2016 Member Mark Lickers is planning an Alaskan trip this summer. He is thinking at least three weeks, leaving June 11, 2016. The route is to be determined. Mark has accommodations in Haines Alaska and that could be used for a headquarters to ride the area. The Alaskan ferry serves Haines, so travel back South could be on the ferry. January; Winter in Colorado! The mornings are cold, below 0 in the high country and colder in the valleys. As the weather warms, watch out for mag chloride, gravel, and wet spots.
