JANUARY 2018
Minutes of the January 20, 2018 Business Meeting BMW Riders of Western Colorado Inc. The meeting was called to order by President Monte Potter at 10:00. There were eight members present. Officer’s reports; Treasurer Orrin Beckner was absent, but we know our bank balance to be around $5000. Secretary Jeff Smith passed around the club charter renewals for both the Riders Association and Owners of America. Jeff will mail in the renewals after adding a check. Five members renewed their club membership at the meeting. Rob Wilmoth renewed the membership of eight members from the Steamboat Springs area. Thanks Rob! An overnight trip to the Steamboat Area was suggested. Jeff had member pins manufactured for Nick Greear and Ed Russell. Jeff will mail Nick’s pin, and hold Ed’s until we see him. New Business; There is a new owner at All Sports Honda. The Club organized ERC course was discussed. Dwayne Hall will contact Eric Brown and begin arranging a course for the spring. A date around April 28 was suggested. The class will be seven riders. If we register more than seven there will need to be two instructors. We anticipate the course to take around 5hours, 12 to 5 pm, and the cost to be around $120. After discussion a motion was MSP to offer club members a $50 scholarship to this class. Because this total expenditure is expected to be around $1000, it will exceed the $100 limit in our bylaws, accordingly, a vote will be held at the club meeting February 17, 2018 to approve this expenditure. Rally; Jeff submitted the announcements for the 15th Thunder Mountain Rendezvous to the BMW Riders Association and the BMW Motorcycle Owners of America and our rally is on both websites and will appear in both magazines. Jeff and Christina will do chicken on Friday night. No final decision has been made for the Saturday night dinner. Rally Master Kerry Dolan asked for ideas for program presenters. We have enjoyed the programs the past two years at the rally so we are open to any and all ideas. Terry Toner suggested his band could perform. A suggestion was made to award the grand door prize by placing the winning ticket under a chair, and announcing, during the awards, to “look under your chair”. The meeting was adjourned at 10:40. The group arranged for a pizza lunch for the BMW Dealership staff. Respectfully Submitted, Jeff Smith Secretary/Editor What do Club Officers do? Section 7.4 Duties of the Treasurer: Assist the Secretary in maintaining an up-to-date membership list and provide membership materials to the Secretary as required. Ensure an adequate supply of membership items and materials are available. Coordinate reimbursement expenditures through the Board of Directors. Receive, record, and report all monies or property donated to, paid to, or owned by the club. The Treasurer or the President shall be authorized to maintain bank account(s) in the name of the club. Keep an account of all receipts and disbursements so that a statement of the financial condition of the club is available upon request by the officers or general membership. Prepare a quarterly report for the Board of Directors and an Annual Financial Report in December for all members. Our club is fortunate to have the services of Orrin Beckner in this important club position, Thanks Orrin! PAGE 2
