Why support our work

The Seattle-King County Dental Foundation supports a program that provides life-saving dental treatment to kidney dialysis patients who are awaiting transplants. Transplant patients need to be free of all oral diseases in order to be cleared for surgery. We have partnered with the Swedish Medical Center to provide complex extractions through the Swedish Special Care Clinic. These patients are not able to be helped through the community clinics are referred to Swedish. The clinic was founded with extensive support from our Foundation. We support these, and many other organizations that provide vital dental care top the most vulnerable among us.

All programs are held at the Seattle-King County Dental Society office on Tuesday nights at 6:30pm. The New Dentist program offers young practitioners an opportunity for networking and practice management education. Food and beverages are always available at every program and – best of all – the programs are free! As if all that was not enough, you can earn CDE credit as well! For more information, or to register for any of the classes, please contact Sandra Anderson, Director of MembershipServices. All programs are free but you must RSVP at sandra@skcds.com or call the office at 206.448.6620. We look forward to seeing you at the New Dentist program in 2020. CANCELLATION / REFUND / REGISTRATION POLICY For evening membership meetings and CDE courses

This policy does not apply to all day meetings and/or meetings with partner organizations (e.g., UWSOD, PCDS, SCDS or WAGD, etc.). Members attend these evening membership meetings/CDE courses for free, and we charge spouses and staff $75 to attend. ASDA students at UW School of Dentistry can attend for free as well. Non-members will be charged $150 to attend.

Registrations, Cancellations and “No Shows”

Members can make or cancel their reservation for a general membership meeting. We kindly request a 72 hour advance cancellation as that is when the food is confirmed. We want to be responsible stewards of our members’ dues and not waste resources needlessly. If a member “no shows” after registering, they may be charged $75 on their credit card to cover the cost of the food ordered on their behalf.

Refunds:

There will only be a refund IF the registrant has contacted the Central Office by email, letter or by phone forty-eight (48) hours or two (2) business days prior to the meetings. A $40 processing fee will be deducted from all refunds. In the event of a CDE meeting of more than a half day, a refund will be made less a 15% handling charge and per the amount of refund determined by the partner organizations.

Late Registrations:

Late registrations, less than forty-eight (48) hours or less than two (2) business days, will only be accepted if: A. there are spaces left within the guarantee; and, B. there may be a late registration fee charged to a credit card. In the event that a late registrant does not attend the meeting after paying the fee, there will be no refunds and the registrant’s account will be charged in full. SKCDS reserves the right to select participants, limit enrollment, cancel courses or change locations if necessary. SKCDS accepts no responsibility for travel expenses or penalties incurred by course registrants in the event of a course cancellation or revision.

(Policy adopted by SKCDS Executive Council, August 2015.)
