The first three things you reach for in the morning are… My iPhone to turn off my alarm, speakers for my morning sing-a-long in the shower, and whatever machine that will make me a coffee. Take us through a normal working day... The day starts with emails – there’s always so many! Each day is different but usually it would involve planning the next ranges with the rest of the FK team, and finalizing styles with our Creative Director. If there’s any down time, I’ll be researching upcoming trends, finding inspiration for photoshoots and brainstorming ways to evolve Finders Keepers. What’s your staple weekday outfit? Do you change it up or keep it simple? I like to design clothes I want to wear, so I’m usually in Finders Keepers! I like to be comfortable at work, so you can usually find me in a pair of drop crotch pants or culottes and a tank top. My Isabel Marant wedge sneakers are basically glued to my feet. How did the inspiration for Lumière come about? I’ve always wanted to do a photoshoot using only minimal – but interesting – light, so we looked at different ways we could manipulate the lighting to create effects. Our photographer Gretl did an amazing job making sure everything was technically perfect and that the clothes were still the heroes of the shoot. Friday knock offs – what’s your drink of choice? An Adelaide Hills red or an icy cold beer – every time!

Home Grown

Words STEPHANIE DUGAN

Small town residents rejoice. Adelaide’s homegrown Madison Stubbington – recently spotted gracing runways for the likes of Louis Vuitton, Viktor & Rolf and Valentino – has given us hope that we too can make it big time. At only 17, Madison has an uncultivated presence in front of the camera, matched only (perhaps) by old hats with twice her age and experience. BNKR takes a minute to talk to chat about her imminent rise to fame, travel and who she is on the weekends. How did you get your break as a model? Well apparently, Mum always tells me that when I was eight I walked straight up to her and said ‘I want to be a model!’ But it all happened by accident really…Mum encouraged me to enter a competition – said I could win a trip to Paris! I didn’t really think too much of it. What does a normal week look like for you now? I’ll wake up at 6 or 7 am; check my email and travel schedule to make sure I’m not supposed to be on a plane somewhere in an hour. I try to take every day as it comes but you have to be organised…coffee helps! If I’m working a fashion week I’ll go to multiple castings and see clients. Then to hair and make up to be ‘poked and prodded’ to make sure you’re perfect for the runway. It’s so tiring but when you step out onto the runway, adrenaline takes over and you forget all about it…and it’s over in a second. You’ve walked for some pretty massive names late ly. Wh at ’s b e e n your m ost m e m orab l e moment so far? Walking for Saint Laurent and Louis Vuitton. It’s a whole otherworldly experience. You achieve an instant ‘cool factor’ just putting on the clothes. The mos t ner ve-wracking was cas ting for Vic toria Beckham. I was so anxious and it turned out she didn’t like me at all! I wasn’t harsh enough for the lo ok she was af ter.

If you could work for any designer in the world (current or past) who would it be? It sounds cliché but definitely Chanel and Dolce & Gabbana. The other girls laugh at me when I say it, but they’re such important labels. It’d be silly of me not to want to work for them. How would you describe your off duty style? Basic and minimalistic. At the moment I’m living in my Isabel Marant boyfriend jeans and Birkenstocks. If I want to mix it up I’ll wear my leopard print Vans. Style icon?  I think Miranda Kerr’s street st yle is really amazing. Simple but always super chic. I always… Have peanut butter in my oatmeal...and two coffees a day! What would we most likely find you doing when you’re not on the runway? Cooking. I make a mean curry. I also recently mastered cauliflower fried rice – which is more delicious than it sounds! And I love to make brownies when I have the time. Something most people wouldn’t guess about me is… I still sleep with my teddy – I have to take him when I go away or I know for sure it’s going to be a bad trip.

If you could only have one food for the rest of your life, what would it be? Peanut butter – I’m completely obsessed. Plants or pets? Pets for sure! I have four rats and two dogs. I’m not sure how I’d do with plants…I’m certain they wouldn’t live too long. Travel essentials? My laptop, Nikes and face refresher spray are must haves for travelling; as well as my Bioderma skin care and No7 concealer pen – and of course my teddy.  What do you make sure you have time for when you come home to Adelaide? I make sure I spend lots of time with my family; I usually like to cook for them. I’ll always go to lunch with my bestie – probably to Argo on The Parade. Other than that I like to go to the shops and see what’s new in Adelaide. Oh, and I try and get some driving in. It’s pretty difficult to get your drivers license when you’re never at home! I couldn’t live without… My family. They make me the person I am…and my bed! I love my sleep.  If I weren’t me, I’d be… Like my spirit animal? Something graceful… maybe a horse!
