VANITY 6 NASTY GIRL

ALL FEMALE TRIO. In 1982, the group released their first and only together with Vanity. Due to personal reasons, Vanity departed the group in 1984.

After going solo, VANITY signed to Motown Records. She released two studio albums, “Wild Animal”(1984) and “Skin on Skin” (1986).


Before the trio became known as “Vanity 6,” they were know as “The Hookers.”

Discovered by music icon, Prince. The trio released hit single, “Nasty Girl,” produced and mastered by Prince. In addition, Vanity and Prince became romantically involved.

As a solo artist, the 80’s diva reached MORE Billboard success. Her album, “Wild Animal” peaked at No.72 on the ‘Billboard 200 Albums’ chart and No.14 on Billboard’s R&B Albums chart. It stayed on the chart for 25 weeks.

“Pretty Mess” from “Wild Animals,”peaked at No.75 on the ‘Billboard Hot 100’ chart and No. 13 on Billboard’s Hot Dance Music & Disco chart. It stayed on the chart for 18 weeks.

Released in 1982, the selftitled album, “Vanity 6” is an 8-Track album that includes the trio’s hit record, “Nasty Girl.” Although the album didn’t reach commercial success and bubbled under the Hot 100 chart, it did score notable achievements on the Billboard Charts!

According to sources, Prince and Vanity met backstage at the American Music Awards, where she was working as a model for the night.What attracted Prince to Vanity was his reflection in her. According to Prince, he saw his reflection in the starlet and gave her the name, Vanity. That same year, Prince’s protege became the lead singer of the first female group under his management, Vanity 6. Under his belt, Vanity and the other two group members toured the world and produced the hit single, ‘Nasty Girl.’
