Biography
What follows is a necessarily incomplete report on the doings of some of the River Bend Library staff and associates of 1996: Andzoey, Franny. Quit her job and married Jordy soon after the events described above. Discovered a new vocation as an award-winning travel writer after publishing an article about their “spontaneous marriage event” in Tuscany. Austen, Jordy. After helping the Cistercian Monastery get their collection on-line, Jordy transferred to the Abbey in Muenster, Switzerland, for further studies toward writing his doctoral thesis. Post-doctoral studies have taken Jordy and Franny to Venice, Milan, Rome, and Alexandria. Belden, Trixie. After a nation-wide candidate search, Trixie Belden was appointed the new director of the River Bend Library System. Canyon, Steve. Steve has “bagged more mountains than I can count, really,” and written books about most of them. Still director of the best damn small college writers’ conference in the world, Steve is also still one helluva guy. Cordova, Cody. After overseeing construction of the 21st Century Library & Convention Center, Cody retired. Selling out his KeyCo stock just before the bubble burst, Cody was able to retire while young and still-good looking. Tabbed to serve on the board of the Humanitas Project, Cody hangs with Ex-President Jimmy Carter, traveling the world, overseeing construction of affordable and ecologically-responsible housing. Davis, Jefferson. Jefferson Davis quit teaching, cold turkey, and went off to write that novel he had so often spoken of at so many writers’ conferences. Jeez, it’s been ten years now, and no word from him yet. DiAngelo, Jeremiah. Assigned a new identity under the Federal Witness Protection Program, he is working at a public library near you. Drew, Nancy. Soon after the events described above, Nancy moved to the hill country of Virginia, where she is director of a library designed by Frank Loyd Wright and heads the Roseola Support Foundation. Dude, Derick the. Living large on the fully restored S.S. Magnolia, a floating museum of riverboat history and fully operational casino cruising up and down the Mississippi, funded by the NEA, the NPR, the National Historic Trust, donations from the Phew Charitable Fund, and from people like you. Fitzgerald, Zelda. Died in her sleep of natural causes incident to old age soon after the events described above. Family and friends request that in lieu of flowers, please send a donation
