PROPEL Golf Classic will be held at a new location: Boca Country Club, 17757 Boca Club Blvd. (off Congress Ave.), Boca Raton on Thursday, Nov. 8. This is a rescheduled date from the originally planned Oct. 25. “We were forced to cancel because of Hurricane Sandy,” said PROPEL board president Matthew Kutcher. “The safety of our participants is more important than anything else.” The casual, friendly charity golf tournament is the most important yearly fund-raising event for PROPEL (People Reaching Out to Provide Education and leadership), a 501 (c)3 nonprofit organization founded nine years ago.
More than 45 years ago, Northwest Boca Raton was the model community. IBM’s arrival ushered in neighborhoods, top-rated schools, businesses and key infrastructure that became the blueprint for today’s live-work-play community. Housing and lifestyle amenities offered IBM’s people “a good place to raise families in a very nurturing environment for professionals,” says IBM veteran Pete Martinez, who today is Chairman of Palm Beach Medical Education Corporation, parent of a new medical school planned for Boca Raton. Now more than ever, sustainablyfocused redevelopment can establish Boca Raton as a world-class “city of tomorrow.” See page 7
