PWH LEADERHIP SUMMIT
from PWH Q2 2021
Join the Effort to Support Women’s Heart Health
Organizers of the 2021 PWH® Leadership Summit are incorporating a heart health initiative to raise awareness of women’s heart health. Please make sure to joins us for a virtual luncheon held during this year’s Summit. The Be InspiRed: American Heart Association Luncheon is scheduled for Tuesday, May 18 at 12 noon. Various resources and education will be available from the American Heart Association (AHA) Go Red for Women initiative.
Helping to organize the event is Erin Hyatt, a senior client relations manager at Midmark. Erin is part of an AHA initiative called Women of Impact, changemakers dedicated to making a lasting impact on the health of their communities. The AHA selects Women of Impact due to their passion and drive to make a difference around women’s heart health awareness.
Being nominated to represent Women of Impact in the Greater Cincinnati area has given Erin the ability to connect all areas of her life from personal to professional. Heart Disease runs in her family, from the death of two grandparents to her father having triple by-pass surgery. Most recently, her sister-in-law, Tonia Hyatt Elrod, suffering from a massive heart attack at age 45. Erin has been actively engaged with the AHA for multiple years due to a passion for awareness around heart disease and stroke, better blood pressure screening, and an active role in reducing health disparities in her community.
“My professional journey has always linked back to the American Heart Association,” explains Erin.
Early in Erin’s career, a mentor encouraged her to take an active role in the AHA. This exposed Erin to the value of corporate philanthropy and the ties it has to the health and betterment of communities. Philanthropic engagement in AHA has carried Erin throughout her career journey, providing a steppingstone to open doors to various relationships and partnerships.
After helping to establish the Cincy YP chapter of AHA, and actively participating and volunteering for key events, Erin now works for Midmark, a clinical environmental design company providing equipment that plays a fundamental role in better blood pressure screening initiatives.
“I believe it is imperative to ensure that our colleagues, customers, and professional/personal networks understand how they can change the trajectory of their lives by focusing on heart health to prevent what is preventable,” says Erin. “The research and initiatives of the AHA have a direct impact on the enhancements in medicine and the health of the communities in which we live.”
Currently, Erin is focused on making sure women are aware of Research Goes Red which aims to empower women to contribute to research advancing heart health. Specifically, Project Baseline allows women to collaborate with the AHA and heart health experts to better understand leading technologies and tools.
