Introduction

The catalogue that we would like to share with you, is a set of travel packages offered in Poland – stays in polish finest historic hotels: castles, palaces, manor houses, post-industrial buildings… We have designed a unique set of holiday proposals. They are unique, because they consist of undiscovered tourism destinations offering various tourist attractions. However, the most important thing is that, you will be able to feel the true polish hospitality and discover polish heritage within unusual historic buildings and interiors – all of them were renovated and now they are offering high quality tourist service. Some of them became even luxury hotels. It is difficult to state, which part of our offer is the most attractive. We believe that regional attractions, breath-taking views, unique tourist accommodation and polish heritage are equally important and they are mutually reinforcing. Thus, we would like to invite you to Poland and we promise you to make your stay exceptional and memorable. Poland Anno Domini 2018 is trendy and arouses interest. It is not a coincidence that Lonely Planet during the last WTM in London, announced that The Lonely Planet’s readers pointed out Poland among other countries, as a destination that they would like to visit the most in upcoming years. And this is not the only ranking encouraging to visit Poland However, there are many other reasons that make Poland worth visiting, here are just a few of them: the unique, polish landscape – from Baltic sandy and wide beaches, through the Masurian and Pomeranian lakes up to the rocky Tatra Mountains. This are the most natural regions in Europe – the last on the continent - Białowieża Forest and the Vistula River, which still flows in its natural bed, from its source up to its mouth. The panoramic view from Vistula’s riverbanks over modern 250m height skyscrapers in Warsaw is almost symbolic. Within polish territory there are many historic and splendid cities – just to name a few acknowledged by the UNESCO: Cracow, Warsaw, Toruń, Gdańsk. There is a plenitude of Romanesque, Gothic and Renaissance monuments, which are a part of European Cultural Routes. There are numerous National Parks, which preserves natural environment, many historic wooden churches and Orthodox churches, Second World War’s forts and fortifications and post-industrial monuments f. ex. Bóbrka the first oil mine in the world in Subcarpathia region. There are also many traces of presence of Jews and other nationalities, for whom Poland since 14th century have been the most open and friendly country in Europe. In order to fully understand why Poland arouses high dose of interests among travellers, it is essential to mention two more issues. In recent years, Poland have been through so-called political transformation and successfully joined EU – inflow of funds and new investments enhanced social activity on a large scale. In a nutshell, cities and towns in Poland have been always historic and interesting. Unfortunately, as a result of wars and post-war times, this towns and cities were much neglected and not attractive for potential travellers. The same it is for Polish landscapes, which have been always magnificent, but access to this places were limited due to lack of adequate road infrastructure – even travels between major cities were long lasting and uncomfortable. However, today

Krzysztof Kaniewski

Poland looks different. Nowadays, Poland is a country with elegant cities, towns, villages with good road infrastructure – network of express highways and roads were built and quality of local roads were improved in recent years. Moreover, major cities are now connected by high-speed train called Pendolino and Poland has a dense network of international airports. Poland has been always perceived by foreign tourists as a safe country and polish inhabitants are known from their kindness among travellers – the kindness and generous hospitality offered by Poles have been the most valuable experience for foreign tourists since decades. And it is still the same. Moreover, prices in Poland are competitive. The standard and quality of the service in hotels, restaurants is often at the highest level. Therefore, the price is a great polish asset – a very concrete incentive for any tourists willing to spend holidays in Poland. Historic Hotels are finest example of outstanding, value-laden holidays in unique, Polish destinations in the context of price, quality of service and tourist attractions. In this catalogue we would like to share with you precisely selected package holidays in Poland and encourage you to take advantage of them. Uniejów Gniezno Archbishops’ Castle The first modest stone castle was erected in the years 1360–1365 on the former wooden fortifications destroyed by Teutonic knights in 1331. The construction was initiated by archbishop Jaroslaw Bogoryja Skotnicki. For a few centuries, the castle was an important asset of the Gniezno archdiocese. Not only did it serve as the archbishop’s seat, but also - due to its defensive character - it was a place for hiding diocesan treasures. The final Gothic & Renaissance shape, resembling what you can see today, featuring some Baroque elements, was acquired thanks to numerous overhauls carried out by primates Jan Wężyk and Maciej Lubieński in the first half of the 17th century. At present, the castle offers 6 suits and 15 rooms. In addition, guests may stay in a building adjacent to the castle. The whole facility is located in a park which comes very close to the Warta river in the east. One of the most attractive features of the terrain are the recently discovered thermal waters based on which a large and modern SPA and swimming pool were built.

Manor House SPA – Odrowążów Palace

The name of the Odrowążów Palace in Chlewiska refers to the original owners of the Mazovian land - the Odrowąż and Chlewicki families. They were succeeded by the families of: Potkański, Sołtyk and Plater. All of them were very patriotic and engaged in the economic development of the estate, the farm, the city and its surroundings. It was upon a Platers’ initiative that the estate should not only be extended, but that there should also be a large steel plant in the neighborhood. Even today the plant enraptures tourists with its perfectly preserved historic equipment. The palace itself, i.e. the central piece of the estate, dates back to the 19th century. It is one of the oldest and best preserved landowning mansions in Poland. Its architecture is characterized by some rampart elements and a traditional “broken” Polish roof. The today’s condition of the palace should be attributed to its current owners who have erected a luxurious hotel in Chlewiska, featuring many attractions (most of them spa-related). Rajsko Castle Rajsko was first mentioned in the early Medieval Ages when it may have been a fortified fortress or just a hunter’s manor house. Whatever it had been, it was destroyed in 1431 by Hussites during their expedition to Luzyce. From then until the 19th century the whole place lay in ruin. Then, one day, an Italian count - Alexander von Minutoni, the owner of the nearby Biedrzychowice palace, an art lover - had the castle rebuilt in the Rheinland Baroque style. He arranged the interior of the castle (walls, stairways) so that they would match the landscape. The castle is beautifully located upon the banks of the river Kwisa which leaves at this point a water reservoir called Lesnian Lake. T

he Vistula, the longest river in Poland (1042 km), is inseparably linked to its history. Serving as a natural waterway for transporting goods from southern to northern Poland, over time along its banks, settlements formed, castles were built, and towns appeared. It was a factor in economic development, and the towns which appeared alongside it, in that of cultural development. For this reason, today the Vistula is not only a symbol of Poland but also a significant tourist attraction. Its waters flow from the beautifully picturesque Carpathians, through scenically diverse terrain, with high escarpments for a lowland river, to finally feed into the Baltic through a delta. What is most interesting along the Vistula are the fabulous historic cities: Kraków, Kazimierz Dolny, Warsaw, Płock, Toruń, Grudziądz, Gdańsk and others, incredibly interesting salt and grain storage facilities, natural marshes and oxbow lakes, beautiful sandy beaches and the river flora and fauna accompanying these natural environments. The sandy beaches in particular, which are also present in Warsaw, the country’s capital, which is a rarity in Europe, serve not only for relaxation but are also a tourist attraction in their own right.
