Oplenova hiša je bohinjska domačija stegnjenega tipa, ki pod skupno streho združuje stanovanjske in gospodarske prostore. Dovoz po mostu na skedenj nad hlevom je speljan mimo bivalnega dela, kar je bohinjska posebnost. Stavba je zidana in kombinirana z lesom, pokrita je s skodlami. Stanovanjski del sestavljajo veža s kuhinjo, »hiša«, kamra, podstrešje in klet. Je ena redkih hiš, v katerih je še mogoče zakuriti na ognjišču črne kuhinje.

Oplen House is a typical extended type house that has the living and farming area under one roof. The path across the bridge to the barn above the stall runs past the living area, which is a typical feature in Bohinj. The building is built from brick and wood. The residential part comprises a hall with a kitchen, the “house” (living area) and small room, an attic and cellar. It is one of the rare houses where the open fireplace kitchen can still be used.

PLANŠARSKI MUZEJ
ALPINE DAIRY FARMING MUSEUM

Planšarski muzej domuje v nekdanji vaški sirarni, ki je delovala še v šestdesetih letih prejšnjega stoletja. Stara oprema je popolnoma ohranjena in še danes bi lahko v muzeju izdelovali pristni bohinjski sir.
V muzeju je prikazan lesen planšarski stan z notranjo opremo s planine Zajamniki in prvotna sirarska delavnica. Skozi fotografije so prikazana značilna bohinjska planinska naselja in zgradbe ter portreti majerjev, ki so tudi po štiri desetletja in več skrbeli za živino na planinah. Na koncu sledi še predstavitev Kravjega bala, tradicionalne bohinjske turistične prireditve, ki izhaja iz praznovanja ob koncu planinske paše.
The Alpine Dairy Farming Museum is located in a former village cheese dairy that operated in the 1960s. The old equipment, shown there, is well preserved and could still be used for making genuine Bohinj cheese.
The museum displays a wooden shepherd’s tent with interior furnishings from the Zajamniki mountain and the original cheese-making workshop. Photographs show typical Bohinj mountain settlements and buildings, as well as portraits of the alpine herdsmen who managed livestock on pastures, even for four decades and longer. The museum also presents the traditional Cows’ Ball event - a celebration of the end of the alpine grazing season.

Muzejska zbirka Historia Bohinj se osredotoča na dogodke, ki so Bohinj zaznamovali v vihravem 20. stoletju. Posebno mesto imajo domačini, ki so bili tako ali drugače udeleženi v dogodkih prejšnjega stoletja. Zbirka se najprej dotakne izgradnje bohinjskega predora, in se nato nadaljuje vojaško obarvana s prvo in drugo svetovno vojno. Predstavljeno je tudi zelo zanimivo medvojno obdobje. Zbirko zaključuje povojno obdobje ter slovenska osamosvojitvena vojna.

The Historia Bohinj museum collection focuses on the events that marked Bohinj in the 20th century. A special place belongs to local people who were involved in the events of the previous century in one way or another. The collection features the construction of the Bohinj Tunnel as well as the military content of the First and Second World War. It also presents the period between both wars as well as the postwar period and the Slovenian Independence War.
