Just when you think it can’t get bigger and better, the folks at IRCC and their great crew of consignors step up to the challenge of elevating the Quality Control offering year after year and the 2024 edition is likely as deep in quality front to back, breed to breed as ever before. We have always said that as impressive as the show ring accolades are from past QC graduates, the most remarkable part is to study the pedigrees and see how many of the cattle in the offering trace back to cattle that have been sold in this very sale. The staggering amount of heifer calves in both the Simmental and Angus sectors that have been paraded already this summer with great success is a buyers delight as these calves are ready to take you on a fun ride this fall. The bred heifers are a big time opportunity to tie into some of the great cow families that make up the lethal show heifer division and quickly clip a coupon. The cattle time and time again that come out of QC prove to just flat out work. Whether your dreams are to stand in some back drop pictures, raise a sale topper or source your next donor female, you can accomplish all that and more when you purchase your stock in Indian River. This is truly one of the funnest, most enjoyable sales we annually attend and we encourage you all to make plans to be with us on sale day. If for whatever reason you are unable to attend, be sure to contact any of us from BMS as we would be happy to discuss this exciting offering with you.
Best Regards,

Welcome
Bigger and you guessed it better than ever! Every year it becomes challenging to match the offering from the previous year as collectively with our sale partners and friends we always offer the cream of the crop in Quality Control. And, thanks to the tremendous support of breeders from across Canada and abroad we are thankful for the incredible support in QC VII last year to make our 2023 a record smashing event. Somehow however, as we began to assemble this year’s offering it became apparent that QC VIII - 2024 is gonna be bigger, more diverse, deeper and as steamy as we’ve ever had. Both breeds line up with some absolute super stars but more importantly from cover to cover the quality is top drawer. We recognize there are lots of places to invest in stock, but I urge you to ponder the possibilities inside these covers. The heifer calves on offer are abundant and many have already found there way to the backdrop. In fact I challenge anyone to find a set of calves that have been shown already with the success this set has and on top of that have the track record this sale has of continued success up and down the show road. This deal is stacked, the industry is rockin, the feed piles have never been bigger and the future of the beef business has never been brighter. Make plans to be with us October 6 for fun, fellowship and auction excitement. We are fortunate to be working with a great crew from the Bohrson Marketing team, so feel free to contact them, our consignors or anyone of us here at IRCC to assist with your plans to participate in QC VIII.

Just when you think the “Darlin Thing” couldn’t get any hotter, the world came to Canada and witnessed just how competitive, popular and truly good that family is. So what better way to kick off QC VIII than with 2 maternal sisters to that legend - 613D. This young 3/4 sister has the same bold build, powerful yet elegant front end and superb udder quality that has defined the Darlin line. We’d never say anything could replace 613D but this might be a close physically as we’ve had. An added bonus here is the ultra fancy Lot 1A heifer calf by NUG Payin Debts 256K born August 2. Lot 1 will sell open with options to fall breed or flush so you can plant greatness next March.

This could easily have been the full page feature to start the catalogue but big sis had seniority. Sired by the new Genex star they purchased last year, his first calf crop has been impressive. Balance, structure, body and quality is what makes the Darlin family so prominent and this youngster has oodles of all that. Marketable genetics, competitive design, this is one to watch.

First daughter to sell out of our new herd bull we own with Black River and out of the famed Mollydooker cow. And boy what a start with this brockle faced beauty that has been a fun one around the barn this summer. Fresh off a win at the highly competitive Paris Fair as Calf Champion, this heifer was also Reserve Heifer Calf Champion at the OYCS Trillium Classic on her only other trip to town. Not only does her flexible well balanced structure and body allow her to collect banners her maternal ancestry includes “the cow” 8543U as her great grandma so that breeding strength is potent and predictable. Appropriately then, Matt Albrecht selected her maternal sister as pick of the 2023 calf crop last year and we’ve enjoyed that partnership and have even won Matt a few banners along the way. Good looking, good natured backed by Mollydooker and 8543U, this is one for kids and/or cowmen.

Calf Champion at the Provincial YCS she just won the same award at Barrie Fair where she was also Reserve Female. Extra body and mass set her apart from her peers while she also remains attractive with a great skull. Her dam was a many times Champion, her sweet sister has been a winner for Paige Hanes on both sides of the border and more family prominence is in the next lot. Rapidly becoming a farm favourite around here, pretty much every visitor also admires this dark red, spot face doll. She will be a sister to the fabulous Jiffy 146J cow that has done it all in the ring and raising them as evidenced on the previous page. As tanky and bold centred as you can make one she remains lady like and still balances extremely nicely. This sale feature will test the marriage, we lost her dam in a freak wind storm this year and the cow sense in Juanita says keep, the bank account however says we need cow “cents”. We don’t offer many red ones around here. But when we do you might want to pay attention.

Out of a monster IPU Black Jewel 2C dam who also produced another standout show winning calf, sold to Walsh Farms in the 2020 QC VI sale.

A unique opportunity here with one of the few ‘KCC1 Countertime’ bred heifers offered in Eastern Canada. We selected her dam, LFE BS Dreamlady 4J out of the Lewis Farms consignment at Bohrson’s Flirt Event. On the bottom side she goes back to the illustrious LFE BS DreamLady 50Y, a standout producer at Lewis Farms. Dreamlady 4J produced this exceptional heifer who was shown throughout 2023 in the Black River show string. Her fine skeleton build is a true reflection of her dam’s exceptional looks. Big bellied, smooth shouldered and bold show look captures your immediate attention. Bred to the dominant heifer bull, LKCC Bold Venture for a late January calf.

Alliance B. Sarah Linnette is definitely a heifer that I believe has a great future in the Simmental industry. She is just an overall tank! Long bodied deep ribbed extremely feminine and an absolute sweetheart to work around. Again she was a heifer that I believe could’ve done some winning in the show ring but my wife couldn’t keep her hands off me and we had two children under 15 months! I know whoever purchases this heifer will do some serious winning with her young prodigy going forward! Serviced to the bull we call Chappy around here. High Heels 253L has been an absolute joy to watch turn into a young heifer. Deep ribbed extremely attractive, stout as all get out and one of the hairiest heifer calves I’ve had at Dunmac. High heels would definitely of had one hell of a show career but it seem like timing over the past few years kept us away from the show ring. Heels should be a cornerstone female at Dunmac but when Billy got an opportunity to take her for the sale he did not hesitate.

The first time we have ever opened up and offered a bred female before. This one was held back last year to be able to bring a high end bred female to the Quality Control. 119L is one of the most extended & high volume females we have ever offered before. Not only is she backed by some of the best cows in the Simmental breed, but we feel her mark will be made in the production pen. We cannot say enough about our Double Up calves this year, and feel this could be a home run mating.

When we saw Double Up in Louisville we knew he was a bull that we needed to incorporate into our herd. We believed he would add extra look, rib shape, and a tremendous foot and hind leg into his progeny. Daya does all of those things, and exemplifies the type of Simmental cattle we set out to raise. A truly outcross pedigree backs this standout female, but more importantly is the type and kind that will propel both the breed and your program forward.

A bit younger in age, this March female not only will hold her own in the Junior division, but she will stand with the rest. Opportunity knock every once in a while!!! Here you have a chance at purchasing a pregnancy out of the Dunraven Whiskey 19E purchased right here at the IRCC Quality Control Sale back in 2018. from the good folks at Dunraven Farms. This cow has gone on to be a front pasture cow at Clarke Family Farm, Raised the 2023 Res. CYSA Champion female Clarke’s Whiskey 16J, owned by Jon- Ern farms Limited. As you can tell we are excited about the “Whiskeys”. Here is a New Exciting Deal! FRKG Alpha 311L was the record setting and lead off bull at Heartman Cattle Co. bull sale! Feb 4, 2023 he set a new record where a group of Simmintal enthusiasts sat in and purchased 1/2 interest for $700,000 U.S. We couldn’t have been happier at Clarke Family Farms Inc and with Jon Ern Farm Limited to buy the Canadian semen interest in this exciting new herd sire!! This topped his sire’s record STCC Tecumseh 058J that previously sold for $620,000!!! After a tour of Denver last January and some pretty impressive Simmental herds I realized these Tecumseh offspring are something to have a look at!!!!! They are flat impressive!!! Here is an exciting opportunity that is due the first week of Feb.(Clarke Farms will guarantee a heifer calf)
The Dunraven Whiskey story is the same exciting one as above, now mated to SFI Mile High Remedy L31, this is an exciting new sire we have at CFFI from the Schaake program, this Remedy son was in their lead off pen in Denver and went on to be champion pen of bulls, Luck be have it I bought a ticket on the pick of the yard Simmental bulls ( thank you to Colorado Simmental Association and breeders!!!) and I picked this bull out of the group!

Designed, created and donated by Victoria Cane DVM with 100% of all proceeds going to support our East Central Simmental Juniors. A beautiful Queen sized quilt comprised of approximately 1600 individual hand-cut and sewn pieces requiring 200 hours of detailed hand work.
Only the best materials were used and, sourced from all across North America.
There is a very wise man, either in the stands or perhaps bidding online, who will buy this one of a kind, lifetime heirloom for his better half. And in doing so, he might never again need her approval to spend a Sunday afternoon at a cattle sale.
Gentleman, take a careful look at who is sitting beside you and then consider the possibilities.
This wonderful lady truly needs thanked and recognized for her extremely kind donation to the ECOSA Simmental junior kids. The countless hours of hand stitching and the detailed art involved in the production of this quilt is a feat that few would have the commitment and talent to accomplish. Thank you “Pidge”

The standout of the 2024 crop, this picturesque young heifer is so unique, as her structural integrity combined with cow family strength make her a show heifer that is actually bred to make a big time mother cow. One of the first and only calves off the $105,000 W Sunrise Executive 4J to be offered for sale in the east, her dam was our selection at a past Brooking sale as we tried to source a proven cow family. The absolute star of our 2024 Angus show string her stunning look, soft hair and impeccable build has allowed her to be crowned the Heifer Calf Champion at the National Jr Angus Showdown in the owned division, Reserve calf at Tweed and recently Reserve Calf at the Angus Preview. This one has it all and she’s already proving it.

You will need to see this one in the flesh to truly appreciate the extra performance and power she poccesses. Just an April, she is destined to be a part of our Royal string and we would actually entertain keeping her around the barn next year if some one wants to have a little fun. Style, balance, build and out of a beautiful beef cow that gets it done every year. The Lady Di females and cow family around here are quickly becoming the true type Angus that we use as a measuring stick to compare the rest. Double Trouble recognized their potential and swept up the whole family last year, while our Angus show herd is anchored by another Lady Di that was just declared Champion Sr Yearling at the Ontario Preview show last week. Toss in the insanely popular “Emerald” on the top side and we have this extra stout, soft made, well balanced heifer that could fit into and help build any program.
