SIGHT UNSEEN PROGRAM
We would love to have you join us for our annual Bull Sale at the ranch. If you can not, this program has worked well for many busy cattlemen unable to make it to our sale. With families and a bunch of cows ourselves, we realize that with hockey, 4-H, chores, frozen water bowls, cows calving and everything else it is sometimes hard to be everywhere you want to be on certain days. Each and every year we sell more bulls through this program from clean across the country to next door neighbors. The program is simple. Call us in advance (preferably a week or so) before the sale to discuss your cowherd, breeding objectives and herd bull requirements. From what we gather from talking to you about your program, we can fit you with a herdsire or herd sires with in your price ranges and suited to your needs without you leaving home. The bulls will be personally hand picked by Lee, Dave or Jim. We are a family run operation so the same person helping you pick your bull is the same person who calves, breeds, feeds and lives with these herd bull prospects and their mothers year around. We know our cowherd very well and the genetics strength of each bull on offer. Just the same as you know yours. Almost 50 years in the bull business we have gained a level of trust and integrity with our customers and have had repeat customers buy their bulls here for years and not been to a sale yet. We will get you the best bull for your program as reasonably priced as we can - you have our word on that.

Here are a few details about our operation and why we think an MRL herd sire may work for you.
* Over 50 years in the bull business. Over 50 years we have been committed to and stuck to producing Simmental seed stock which will work well under your commercial conditions. Easy fleshing, structurally sound beef cattle have always been #1 at MRL. Over 50 years of stacking the most elite cow families that rise to the top on production merit under ranch conditions.
*Customer Care “Large enough to serve you - Small enough to know you” (borrowed this from another outfit that sells alot of bulls and its the absolute truth). Any given day of the year there are over 300 bulls at the ranch. Herdbulls, spare bulls, sale bulls and bulls being developed. Rest assured if you run into trouble we will have you covered. Free delivery to central points across Western Canada and the Northern States. Cost sharing to the East and Southern States. For those busy cattlemen unable to make it sale day, we offer a sight unseen buyers program and pre- selection program, as well as several sale consultants to leave an order with and internet bidding with both DLMS and DV Acution.
*Quality Not Quantity. Our operation consists of over 700 working females. The 180 bulls on offer have been selected from 350 bull calves, therefore we can be very strict when selecting our offering. The toughest thing about our bull sale will be making up the sale order. Pens full of uniform 1⁄2 and 3⁄4 brothers.
* Bull Development. These bulls have been developed on a high roughage TOTAL TMR ration with consultation from Bulls Eye Feeds. Our objective is to offer you sound breeding bulls ready to go to work and stay working for years to come. “Stuffing” is for the “Christmas Turkey” not “breeding bulls”. All bulls are semen tested prior to the sale so there are no surprises after you buy your herd bull(s).

Terms - The terms of the sale are cash or cheque payable at par at sale location unless satisfactory credit arrangements have been made prior to the sale. The right of property shall not pass until after settlement is made. We reserve the right to require a certified cheque as settlement before releasing any sale cattle. Should any purchaser fail to settle for his purchase, we reserve full power to resell the animal to the best advantage either publicly or privately without further notice. Any loss arising from such resale together with keep and all other expenses shall be payable by the defaulter. All settlements must be made with the clerks of the sale before any cattle will be released.
Disputes - Each animal will be sold to the highest bidder. In case of disputes, bidding will be reopened between the parties involved. If no further bid is made, the buyer will be the person from whom the auctioneer accepted the last bid. The auctioneer’s decisionin such matter is final.
Purchaser’s Risk - Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as sold. Animals will be cared for at the purchaser’s risk for a reasonable length of time. We strongly recommend the purchaser insure their purchase(s) at time of purchase.
Announcements - Announcements from the auction block will take precedence over the printed matter in the catalogue. Buyers are therefore cautioned to pay attention to any such announcements.
Certificate of Registry - A registration/recordation certificate issued by the Canadian Simmental Association.Canadian Angus Association and duly transferred will be furnished to the buyer of each animal after settlement has been made. It is the responsibility of the buyer to determine the acceptance of this certificate in any other association.

Breeder’s Guarantee - As per the Canadian Simmental Association/Canadian Angus Association Breeding Guarantee guidelines. In th event of a dispute, the sellers are responsible only to the extent of the purchase price of the said animal. We assume no liability, legal or otherwise, to make any further compensation to buyers. All bulls are vet inspected and sell with a breeding guarantee.
Health - All bulls are under the total MRL Herd Health Program. All received Exress 5 Program, Dextomax, Vitamin and all will carry a satisfactory semen evaluation. MRL will look after health tests for cattle purchased by U.S. customers.
Accidents - Although every precaution will be taken to protect the safety and comfort of buyers, neither the Sales Management or MRL assume any responsibility in this matter and disclaims any liability, legal or otherwise in the event of accidents or loss of property.
Rights & Obligations - The above terms and conditions of the sale shall constitute a contract between the buyer and the seller and be equally binding to both. Resale of animals following purchase in this sale constitutes a separate transaction and the right and obligations of the two parties connected by the terms and conditions of this sale. Pictures - By attending this sale you are hereby granting permission for your photograph to be published by MRL in their catalogue and for advertising purposes only.
Many visitors to our red pen last spring asked the question, how will you ever top this pen of bulls in terms of quality, consistency and volume. Well honestly I think we have and early visitors to the pen here in late January have verified this appraisal. Leading the charge and new to the lineup are a dozen powerful, stout blaze faced bulls by the homo polled fullblood bull Dewalt. (Also a dozen in the black pen as well). Total outcross genetics for our red and black pedigrees and maintains as much hybrid vigour in these genetics for our commercial customers utilizing hybrid vigor in their cross breeding programs all in a homo polled, solid blaze faced color pattern. Big time performance bulls by Playmaker, Red Whiskey, and PR Man that our commercial customers request year after year. One of the younger bulls in the group but a definite sale feature and one we are really high on! He reminds me so much of his powerful sale-topping sire PR Man, that sired a $140,000 son last year for Ultra Livestock. Phenotypically this fella is hard to fault and on paper, well, we just can’t make em much better! Our 836W donor and the IPU Tula donor on the top and our immortal 477U and 493U donor cow families on the bottom side of the pedigree and a maternal sister was one of the absolute feature females this fall going to Cole Sjostrand. We’re positive this is an absolute big time herdbull boys and could be a sleeper I this powerful red pen.
The PR Man bull was one impressive dude when he led off our 2022 bull sale going to Ultra Livestock and Hay Valley. And boy we’re excited to offer some headliner bulls here in 2025. This fellas dam is a powerful, beautiful uddered young Load M Up daughter back to the KS Xandra Freedom daughter from the Kenner program in ND. This big, long, stout rascal boasts a powerful pedigree, top of the breed performance numbers and if temperament is important to you, he is an absolute 10 out of 10. Homo polled.
I am not going to go on all day here on these 2 full brothers but they are a pair that have us as excited as any we have ever raised and can’t wait to get these genetics implemented into our breeding program. The 4440B dam pictured below at 10 years of age is one we would not trade for any other cow in the industry and the grandam the 477U donor probably is my all time favourite cow. Power, udder quality, color, foot quality and just shear consistent production under ranch conditions year in and year out. The 47M bull is one we admire for his overall balance and power in his crest and head that scream “herdbull”. This was certainly the plan when we teamed up with Scotty to get the Dewalt bull bought. Yet another stout blaze face son of Dewalt. This guy deserved his picture in the book but isn’t hard to find in the pen sale day. His dam is one of those productive black Edition daughters that’s a B model and still going. She has had a couple top bulls to Haman Ranch, ND, and Glencoe Stock farms. Mid February bull with an 800

Blaze faced performance bull here that landed top 10% for ww and mwwt. Boy we’re excited to offer our commercial customers these Dewalt sons. This guy’s El Tigre dam has been a superior cow for us with top herdbulls going to Walter Sandhoff, M5 Land & Cattle, Bouchard Livestock, Richard Van Sprundel and a top female to Brueckner/Eales Simmentals, ND.
The blood red brother here that’s hard to pick a hole in and there are also 4 dark red blaze full sisters at the top of our replacement pen. She was a frosty one the day we pictured this fella and not sure the picture does him justice, but he is one we are very high on, confident in and will use AI in our program. Sired by MRL Rip, the high selling lead off Tycoon son in 2021 to Little Rainbow Ranch and out of a beauty Statement daughter out of the immortal 55W donor cow. This fella reminds me a lot of the paternal brother MRL Yellowstone that led off our 2024 sale going to Cross Hair Simmentals, ND. This fella is dark, dark, dark red, awesome haired with a tick more frame and length than most and is one that is upheaded and proud knowing full well he is a feature herdbull in the pen. One here with a pedigree and presence to make an impact in the most progressive breeding programs.

Just a terrible picture here that really does him no justice. This fella has been on the radar every stage of the game! He is just super complete in every way and has that true herdbull character. Sired by the $200,000 LFE loyalty bull that is exclusive to only a handful of programs and on the dams side our most prolific cow family. A beauty Venom daughter out of the 3356A cow that had our lead off bull in 2029 MRL Empire to Ag Land and great grandam is the 420X donor, a maternal sister to the immortal 477U donor. A highly Angus influenced Simm/Angus bull here that sells with no papers, but is a pretty stout rascal. The youngest in the pen but certainly worth a look.

These Playmaker sons are absolute commercial cowboy bulls. This dark red ¾ rascal just an 82 lb bw yet ranks top end of the breed for performance and packed full of maternal power. Impressive group of Playmaker sons in both the yearling and 2 year old divisions.
A calving ease bull here that will lead off his pen. His beautiful young dam is certainly making a name for herself and working her way towards becoming a donor matron. This is the 4th superior herdbull in a row. Her first try she raised the MRL Rip Zone bull for $19,000 to Ag Land, a feature bull in 2023 to Berndt Ranch and last year a $19,000 WTL son to Birch Lawn Acres. One here that deserved his picture in the book. His beautiful uddered young dam produced a feature calving ease bull last year going to Ririe Land & Cattle, AB. This year, a Yellowstone son top 15% ww, mwwt, top 10% yw and ti. An all-around bull here, outstanding gentle temperament and one that gets noticed in the pen.

These Yellowstone sons are dark colored, heavy haired and super complete. A trio of 3 impressive full ET brothers offering a pretty unique red pedigree and big time impressive numbers across the board. The sire MRL Strategy is one of the most interesting bulls we have sold going to long-time customers Judd Ag Ventures in our 2023 sale and most impressive son of the breeding bull MRL Walter that just recently produced a $170,000 bull for Kathol Simmentals and the high selling bull last spring for Maxwell Simmentals. The icing on the cake without a doubt is their dam the MRL 6823D donor. She is a power cow in every sense of the word and maybe the most impressive cow we have ever owned. The Coming 2’s division of our bull sale continues to grow in both numbers and quality. We are now calving over 350 cows in our spring calving group in May which includes many elite cow families. This herd is right where we want it and now totally self sustaining with the very best heifers plus 50 embryos added each spring. We absolutely love calving this group on grass in May, it is right up our alley. The bulls are born and bred in an environment identical to most of our commercial customers and will excel under ranch conditions. This is one you will have to see in person! Pretty average picture of one that may very well be the lead bull in probably the strongest set of black bulls we have assembled. Early on in January and this big fella has certainly been found in the pen by some awful good cattlemen. Sired by No Limits and out of a female we acquired as a lead off female from the Mader program in Alberta. Moderate 80 lb bw, 820 lb ww and ranks top 2% ww, ti top 3% yw. We realize that when most in the cattle industry think of MRL they think Simmental but believe it or not we have offered these elite Angus bulls in our sale for over 20 years now and are responsible for 1/3 of the offering. We have worked extremely hard on our Angus program from the get-go. We were fortunate to start with some great cows and have built the cowherd with the same values as we have for over 50 years in the Simmental business, multiplying top cow families that get it done under real world ranch conditions.
