elcome to the Stars of the Valley Sale. It is with great excitement that The Ottawa Valley Simmental Club is able to welcome you back to the Ottawa Valley for our long-time running sale. This year is without a doubt going to be an exciting year. With the help of Bohrson’s and our consignors we have once again picked out an exceptional group of animals. As you browse through the catalog you will see the depth of quality that the members have consigned. If you are a breeder looking to add some new genetics to your herd any of these animals can enter any herd and be productive.

This is my 3rd year as co-chair for this sale it has been a pleasure working with everyone at Bohrson Marketing, my co-chair Travis Taillon and all the OVSC consignors in making this a successful sale. If you are unable to attend our event please note the sale will be available on DLMS services. Also please don’t hesitate to contact Bohrson Marketing to assist you in choosing any animal.

We hope you have a chance to visit our beautiful Nations Capital and look forward to seeing you at the sale.

McCaigCo-chair Sale Committee.

welcome from

Bohrson Marketing

Welcome again to one of the great events of the fall, Stars of the Valley, hosted by the Ottawa Valley Simmental Club. We are excited to continue the tradition after last year’s 45th annual sale and celebration. What an accomplishment that is and SOV remains one of the longest running annual sales in the entire country. Stars has earned its reputation as a premier showcase of purebred and fullblood Simmental cattle and we are thrilled to present this collection of females for your consideration.

We encourage you to join us on Friday night for the presale supper and social to enjoy the camaraderie from this strong group of breeders. This sale boasts a diverse range of cattle to elevate your breeding program and we have many reports from SOV purchases that have quickly returned their purchase price and more. Our team at Bohrson Marketing Services is very proud of this sale and the commitment these breeders have to annually improving the offering.

Join us on October 19, 2024, for an unforgettable day in the Ottawa Valley. Whether you are looking for a show female, a future donor, or a herd builder, we have exceptional opportunities in all sections. With the strength of the cattle business, now is the time to invest in those genetics that will push your program forward. Retire those older females that haven’t quite pulled their weight, you’ll get a nice deposit towards a fresh new female and cow family. I am positive if you look hard at your individual cows and their profitability, you’ll find that the top 20% pay the way for the other 80% - so add some more of the 20% kind.

Our BMS team is familiar with all of the cattle and operations, so please reach out with any questions if you are unable to personally join us at the Metcalfe Fairgrounds. If we can be of any assistance with your selections, feel free to contact us to represent your needs and we look forward to helping in any way. The Stars Of The Valley legacy continues and we invite you to be a part of it.

Best regards,

Special Congo is another example of how the Rocket x Baby mating has worked. Two full sisters have sold in the 2023 Stars Sale and the 2024 World Sale and both have been very well received. This young Rocket daughter will have a little extra age at calving time and that should be to the benefit of the new owner.26K sells bred to Crossroad Pilot 21H a bull that has proven to work on this family. Kat is a very well put together Hefner daughter, smooth polled, dark red, blaze face, big barrel. She is a bit shorter but has good length, good hip and feet on her, and with a little time will turn into stellar cow. This cow family aren’t big but they work well. She is bred to Keystone, a polled dark red big hip Bowman son who was one of the high sellers at Anchor D.

Dunmac Laura 107L Is by far the Hardest animal I’ve ever had to part with. An absolute stand out since birth. This dark cherry red Donor heifer has a perfect balance Between feminine and power and a flawless udder dropping. An extremely hard animal to pick a part as she is great footed with tons of power long bodied deep ribbed this is an animal who can make bulls and heifers year after year. It is going to be extremely difficult to let this heifer walk someone else’s pastures but There is no doubt in my mind that she will leave a stamp on the Simmental breed.

Ms Dakota is a maternal sister to my other sale heifer 26K with this heifer being Baby’s 2023 natural calf. The industry knows how the Dakota bull works on this family as he is the grand sire of the Dakota Dream female. Only with Rob’s insistence is this heifer in the sale. Because of the untimely death of her dam, Baby, this heifer was not going to be sold. 12L is very well grown out but I am not sure her appearance sale day will reflect what her true genetic potential will be. The mating to the homo polled Pilot bull should be very exciting.

Miss Lina is a special one! As per the Simmental registration, she is the first Double Bar D Spitfire daughter to be born in Ontario. Spitfire was exclusive to the Starwest program and very few semen packages were made available. On the dams side, you will see that Miss Lina goes back to the San Mar Pol Nina cow that can be seen in pedigrees throughout the west, including the Rosemead On Demand bull that was a senior herd-sire at Keets Simmentals. The Jessie James bull at KSL Simmentals also goes back to Nina. Locally Ferme Gagnon has the “Angel” cow that comes from the same blood lines. We really think this heifer has a great future ahead of her. Based on vet’s ultrasound, she is carrying a heifer calf. We reserve the right to one future flush at buyer’s convenience and seller’s cost.

OATTES Spicy Flirt 31L

It’s been a few years since we consigned to the Stars of the Valley sale so it was our intention to bring one of our very best to town! This royally bred matron comes with all the bells and whistles from her show-stopping presence, hair, ear set, and ideal hip and hind leg construction, to her remarkable maternal lineage tracing back to the immortal RF Flirtin for Certain 37U, this donor candidate is primed to make an impact in any program. Full disclosure, she is dropping a bit of udder already, and that’s likely the only thing slowing her down from hanging a big banner this fall. It sure won’t hurt her in production and you can fast forward her into raising a genuine highlight of your calf crop, especially when you consider her early service to the highly acclaimed SO Remedy 7F! Expect big things and serious ROI from the resulting purebred calf! Bred March 19, 2024 to

Exposed June 1, 2024 to July 15, 2024 to Donovandale Lexington (homozygous polled).

Clarissa has certainly taken on many features from her grandmother, IRCC Darlin. We purchased her father from Erixon’s sale as the first full brother of Walk The Line to sell. He certainly did not disappoint and the proof that he gets the job done are in these two heifers we are offering. Clarissa is an easy keeping daughter of one of our best cows, MAF Clair 100F. She is moderate in frame, has more than enough width, length and muscle but is feminine and attractive. The udder she is starting to make looks like it should be as good as her mother and grandmother’s. Clarissa has a sweet disposition and, yes, once again we are selling Hailey’s 4h project.

Her other grandmother Darlin, needs no introduction. Isabella is definitely a power heifer with a huge amount of muscle, rib, width and length .She is feminine, hairy and is good footed. Isabella is developing a udder like her mother Bella Chick and 102Z, who has a flawless udder even at her advanced age. She has a dark red hide that makes her eye catching and she carries herself like she belongs in your donor pen.

It was a tough decision to put Kahlua 3M in the sale. This fancy SBV Reputation heifer is easily the best calf from our 2024 calf crop and continues a very strong maternal breeding line. Her sister CBF Gemma 22J was our first consignment to the Sale of the Stars and purchased by Dunmac Farms. Last year, we showed her brother CBF Grover and when Kahlua 3M hit the ground, we knew we had another special one. Her dam, Starwest Ginger 506G dam is now 3 for 3 making the kind we like to keep and is headed for the flush pen. This deep red, high performance daughter of Mader Big Energy 97J has impressed us since day one. Molly’s stature is eye catching, she continues to grow longer and incredibly stout every day. Molly is out of 6 year old Zieview Goldilocks 5G who has given us nothing but impressive calves, male or female. This is a heifer that has out powered many, yet has the fancy show ring appeal while being very sound on her feet with a great set of legs. Big Energy dominated the show ring last fall and Molly will likely be his first daughter to sell, your chance to get in on the ground floor with the excitement for his progeny!

FUSION Merida

Looking for a bomb proof Junior prospect to take on the road next year? This heifer will fit the bill nicely. Long bodied & deep sided with depth to her pedigree which hails from widely respected herds such as WLB, Lewis Farms and of course the famed R Plus program. Bounty Hunter females have worked extremely well in production and the influence of 5015C on the bottom side is priceless. This heifer just keeps getting better with each passing day and has power stamped all over her while no doubt maintaining her femininity. Ruby is one of the first Black Gold Approval 71E daughters to be offered in the East. She is everything we strive for, a front pasture female carrying incredible depth and thickness that we know will work in any program. She has been showing tops in her classes. We’re very proud to have her on offer in this sale.

Miss Seanna 81M is from none other than the MAF Seanna 48C donor cow - the same cow that has produced many great ones, including the Seanna cow that has been very successful for South Bristol Cattle Company & winning many shows. Miss Seanna’s sire, Deeg Digger 13E, was a high seller himself and is a very well put together individual. Miss Seanna has great style and a deep sweeping middle and she is very quiet. She is only made available as we are expecting a full sib in 2025 and we are committed to putting our best to this sale.

JCL Material Girl

Material girl (Maddi) has an exceptional pedigree behind her, with lots of length, class and show quality. Her dam has a great udder with an amazing temperament. Her granddam Barlee Mirage 6F rocked the show world with her short, stout, powerhouse, stature. Material Girl has all the same traits! She will make a great 4-H project for next year and go on to produce some extraordinary calves in her future!

This eye catching heifer is one that we are proud to have as our first consignment to the Stars of the Valley sale. She was born February 11th 2024 and is sired by LLW Card True North. She is a correct, clean fronted and long bodied female, with a ton of style! She also has that cow power on the dam side, being out of a powerful Springcreek Lotto cow (Rosemead First Kiss 52K). If you’re looking for a 4-H project with a great disposition for next year that is guaranteed to catch the judges eye, make sure to take a look at her!
