MARCH 10, 2025 • 26TH ANNUAL SALE
2PM AT SILVER SAGE ARENA • BROOKS, AB
It is our pleasure to welcome you to our 26th annual Bull and Select female sale. We are truly humbled that you would take time to thumb through our catalog. Things have changed a bit this year with a new name and brand, a new date and place but still the same time tested genetics that I have spent a lifetime building. Shauna and I along with Madison and our newly acquired son-in-law Logan are a family that are committed to raising top quality Black Angus seedstock but even more so in building lasting relationships with our customers who very often become great friends. Our family works each day to produce the best genetics not only for the future of our operation, but yours as well and ultimately the beef industry.
I would like to take a minute to thank some of those very special friends that have been steadfast for us during this journey. The Gieger’s (Rylan & Kristen) along with Bruce Sunstrum, Belvin Angus (Mabel & Gavin) along with Colton, Quinn & Brendyn and their wonderful family and Arda/Freeway (Jarret & Kathleen) along with Jay & Lenore and their amazing family. We absolutely couldn’t have done this without you. Then there are the Penders, Osts, Hughsons and Johnsons who all drop everything to help whomever in the group needs a hand. We couldn’t thank you all enough for what you’ve done for us.
So back to the cattle who have been handled a bit differently this year. The sale bulls got kicked out on grass this summer and didn’t come back in until November 1st, giving them way more time to grow into a bull. Grazing through the heat of the summer, walking miles to water and and competing for everything around them are factors that truly give them the breed characteristics to work years for their new owners in any environment. These characteristics don’t just show up over night, they take years and generations to produce. It takes a family that is truly committed to what it takes to get this done. The beef industry starts with a strong maternal factory at the ranch level. Cows that breed back every year with little maintenance, wean big calves and stay structurally sound. The calves need to carry on to be productive and sustainable in both maternal and terminal roles. I have been tracking these characteristics for years and the data is shared with you in every genomic evaluation chart beside each sale lot. The literally “cream of the crop” females are a group that you will truly want to take a look at. The flush with 121G and Three Rivers has been our most productive flush to date. 5 of the 6 flush mates are absolute cracker jacks and the 125L bull is still a good solid ranch bull. The heifers will all have calves at side from the SAV Triumph 2980 who still continuously shows up in SAV advertising and the 121G donor cow will have a calf at side by the newly acquired 92,000 USD, Sitz Triumph who is an absolute stud.
We would be forever grateful if you could attend our sale at the Silver Sage arena where Shauna’s world famous brisket will always be served for lunch along with some great hospitality and time to visit after the sale.

THERE ARE 5 KEY COMPONENTS TO THE HEALTH AND MANAGEMENT PROGRAM:
Nutrition
Animal Care and Welfare
Disease Prevention
· Breeding Soundness
· Tracking Sale Bull Progeny Performance
BULL AND HEIFER NUTRITION All pre-weaned calves are raised on mama’s milk and lush green grass. No supplemental creep is needed or provided. After weaning they are introduced to a fibrous total mixed ration comprised of chopped hay, a textured grain ration, and an all-natural vitamin supplement. This diet is more than adequate for maintaining growth and performance and superior for rumen, hoof and reproductive health.
ANIMAL CARE AND WELFARE All the animals (not just the cattle) at Sunrise Ranching Company are managed and handled with the utmost of care. The cattle are comingled in small groups in large spacious paddocks that have 360 degree wind protection and a large amount of slope so that there is always a dry area to stand or lay down. Straw bedding is abundant and always fresh. Cattle are always handled with ease, but when necessary (in the event of injury or lameness) an analgesic medication (Meloxican) is administered to help lessen the pain.
DISEASE PREVENTION Sunrise Ranching Company follows a detailed vaccination program to help ensure that the cattle stay healthy and continue to thirve on the farm and carry this forward onto their new homes. Below is a list of the antigens vaccinated against and the associated product names used.
Calves are vaccinated in the spring prior to pasture turnout with the following:
IBR/P13/BRSV (MLV) - Inforce 3® (intransal)
Long Range Injectable Ivomec
· BVD (MLV) and Mannhaemia hemolytica - One Shot® BVD 7 way Clostridial and Histophilus Somnus - Ultrabac® 7/Somnubac®
Calves are vaccinated at weaning with the following:
· IBR/P13/BRSV/BVD (MLV) and Mannhaemia - Bovi-Shield® GOLD One Shot®
7 way Clostridial and Histophilus Somnus - Ultrabac® 7/Somnubac®
Parasite Control - Ivermectin in fall
BREEDING SOUNDNESS EXAMINATION Every bull for sale will have been evaluated for the following criteria:
Physical Examination
Soundness of structure and movement
Palpate testis, epididymis and internal sex glands
Scrotal Circumference
· Minimum requirements must be met or no further evaluation is performed
· Examination of the Penis
Verify each bull can protrude and there are no warts or defects of the penis
Sperm Motility and Morphology
· Verify sufficient gross and individual motility and sperm morphology
The bull must pass all the above criteria to be considered a satisfactory breeder. If the bull passes all of the above criteria, but falls just below the minimum threshold for sperm morphology (70%), he is considered to be a “decision deferred” breeder. Approximately 40% of all bulls will fail to produce an adequate semen sample at 11 mo. of age, 30% at 12 mo., 5% at 16 mo. This classification of bulls means that they are either prepubertal or stressed, but are showing sufficient signs of improvement and will likely be satisfactory soon when the days get longer and the grass is greener. Any Decision Deferred bulls offered for sale will be announced at sale time and none of these bulls will be delivered until they achieve satisfactory semen status.
Bulls will be semen tested by Red Rock Ranch Vets and full insurance is recommended.
We have sold many bulls to people who were unfortunately unable to attend our sale. If for some reason you are unable to attend, we would be happy to assist you with your selection and represent you on sale day. Please feel free to call any of the sale representatives to discuss your selections and discuss the offering, preferable a few days before the sale. We will guarantee your satisfaction!

Three Rivers is a breed leader for weaning and yearling growth. He sires big bodied, stout made, high performing cattle. He has been one of the top semen-sale sires of the Angus breed in 2021 and has rewritten nearly all performance records and his sons share his high power genetics.

Mississippi is a great bull to start off the Three Rivers group. He’s a deep bodied performance bull with growth and gain to sire feeder cattle that do the same. He is top 10% in the breed for WW, YW, Docility, Ribeye and Fertility. He also has a strong maternal package coming from a front pasture dam selected from Belvin Angus. She is a model of efficiency in a moderate package with a very well designed udder and foot.

Congo is truly the cattleman’s kind with masculinity, muscle and maturity to burn. He is off the charts performance with weaning at +85 and yearling at +151. He is also top 10% in the breed for Foot Quality, Marbling and Fertility. Queen 202E exemplifies the body type and maternal design we strive to produce. Missouri presents authentic Angus breed character and herd changing type with thickness, muscle shape and real length of spine. He is maternally infused with generations of dam’s that are unmatched in phenotype and production. 147G is a daughter of our iconic donor dam Rita X354, who absolutely changed our herd with numerous high sellers and leaving daughters that still raise high sellers.
A landmark flush that has gained the attention of all those touring the bulls. These flush mates are patented with remarkable length, muscle, style and herdbull charisma. They are all top 10% or better in the breed for WW, YW, Carcass and Ribeye. They are all poised to take a leading role in an industry where people sell their cattle by the pound and where maternal is more than just a number, it embodies real world traits that make a true great mother cow. The dam who sells as well is in a league of her own for thickness, fertility, feet and udder quality. She was a true herd favourite from the second she had her first calf.

Redemption was an intriguing outcross sire when I went looking in 2021. He had real breed leading maternal qualities and the pedigree potency to be a dominant force in the industry. Redemption’s calves come easy with great vigor and perform very well after weaning. His calves transmit structural correctness while adding maternal value, fertility and docility. His daughters soon to be in production look to have excellent udder design and calm dispositions. Redemption is a good looking stud with all the phenotypic extras, plus offers a rare combination of bone and calving ease.

148L is the favourite of the sire group built solid and strong from the ground up. He is a thick stout heavy muscled bull with superior substance. There is absolute power in the blood in these Redemption sons.
Air Force was my pick when looking for an America son at the SAV sale in 2022. SAV America is the $1.51 million world record selling bull in Angus breed history. Air Force sports a lot of the same characteristics and is a real stockmen’s bull with massive dimension, muscle, capacity with an unheard of 20 inch Ribeye. The progeny of Air Force are performance stand outs with extra volume and added rib shape. His daughters look to be maternal perfection that will make real top brood cows. There are two daughters on offer in this sale they are both carrying calves from S A V Triumph 2980.
Ghost Rider will be a real pound maker and profit maker with tons of muscle and power in a herd bull package. You will surly appreciate the business end of this bull who has been a real favourite among visitors. The phenomenal dam by Bruns Blaster and tracing back to Remital’s Choice Mint and the donor dam Tibbie 172P, has been a ranch favourite with abundant milk and superb feet.
Hercules is the Ranchers kind - a thick, heavy muscled Air Force son with superior foot quality while being top 5% of the breed for WW and Ribeye area, just like his Dad. This is 121G’s natural calf, who after being flushed and providing Lots 121 - 126 picked right back up and calved first cycle. She is a real world profitable brood cow.
Gatekeeper is an extra thick, stout rumped and ripped with muscle. He carries a massive
design with added capacity and shape. He is in the top 20% for foot claw and top 5% for foot
dam is a big
Grey Wolf is a fully loaded pedigree power house with phenotype, performance and maternal potency from a mating of Air Force and a daughter of the Barstow Cash donor 236E. These Air Force sons have been on the radar of many cattlemen but seeing is believing. This sire group demonstrates as much muscle shape, power and breed characteristics as you will find anywhere. S S
Osprey is a real phenotypic standout with exceptional length, muscle shape and superb structure. He is impressive from every angle. His red carpet dam is a real ranch favourite with a model body type and a world class udder with abundant milk.
Liberty is an absolute stud with outlier thickness a massive hind quarter and is ripped with muscle from front to back, the kind anchers hunt for. He boosts a breed top 10% for WW, YW and Ribeye. His solid from the ground up dam is super fronted, wide based with real power and presence. She is one of the many Cash Flow daughters here that will have amazing careers.
Increase in pounds per calf from a top-performance bull
X No. of cows bred to him per year
X No. of years to keep the bull
X Expected selling price of calves
EXAMPLE: A bull who will add 30 lbs. to the weaning weight of each of his calves mated to 25 cows per year for 4 years and you sell the calves for $1.80 per pound.
30 X 25 = 750 X 4 = 3000 X 2.5 = $7,500
This is worth $7,500 more than the average bull who will keep your weaning weights the same. Take this formula and put our own figures in and see what you can afford to pay. This equation does not consider the increase in value due to calving-ease, higher quality replacement heifers, yearling growth, feedlot gain and improved carcass quality. COWMAN
= Additional dollars you can pay for a better bull

No Doubt became a real force when he came onto the scene a few years back, but he has re-emerged now that his daughters are producing. Perfect feet, big scrotal and full of muscle and capacity have turned him into a sire that you can’t have enough progeny from. His qualities across the board have made his sons and daughters cattle that rise to the top of any herd.

Profound is another industry changing sire from Ellingsons. His progeny are packed full of red meat and overwhelming muscle shape. The structure, feet and fertility are all elements that produce great cattle. His progeny perform with the best out there and surface to the top of programs around the country.
Genetic trendsetters with all the qualities to supercharge a breeding program from the mating of Profound and our top producing Tiger daughter. They are led by 212L with superb structure and phenotype. Both are long, thick, heavy muscled and sound with large testicles, they are also top 1% for foot quality and top 10% for production. The ranch favourite 129Y was a material stand out with 6 daughters in production, but also raising Pocket Aces 180J and Evolution 170K both Purebred herd sires.
Pocket Aces is a real stud and was the talk of the sale when selected by M & R Damen as one of our top sellers in 2022. He has a remarkable resemblance to his sire, the industry super star Baldridge Pappy. Pocket Aces is solid and sound with true herdbull authority and ideal Angus type. His progeny present calving ease without compromise, displaying muscle, capacity, softness and substance with a real pleasing phenotype. 129Y as mentioned in the last note was a real ranch favourite. She had an ideal body type, abundant milk and impeccable udder and foot quality right up until 12 years of age.

Trapper is another royally breed bull with the phenotype to match. He is deep chested while moderate in frame and having enhanced eye appeal. Double Barrel progeny have proven to be versatile and profitable in every sector of the beef industry. He is top 10% for both Performance and Carcass while also being top 10% for Fertility and Milk.
Brooks Payweight was the Lot 1 and high seller at Brooks’s sale 2017. He is our calving ease master. He was very moderate framed and was able to breed heifers most of his life giving us calves that are light at birth with tons of vigor from any blood line of cow. Payweight was also top 30% for WW and YW so the calves are not throw aways at weaning. I didn’t put a lot of attention into the Payweight sons this year as they are all peas in a pod. A couple of them are 87-88lbs at birth but the consistence is unmatched and I am confident that all of them are sleep at night calving ease sires.
Triumph was the $92,000 USD high seller at Sitz’s Spring Sale 2021 and has made his way to our ranch via Terry White, our friend at Alta Genetics. 121G
This red carpet second generation donor is a major sale attraction with as much production potential as you can find. I’m usually a huge believer in waiting until cows have at least 5-6 calves before I even think of flushing them. But when 121G had her 2nd calf with the udder and foot quality she possessed I knew she was special. When you look down the pedigree and its packed with iconic females and proven sires. Her gene pool is stacked. 141W amassed 17 progeny with one of the best being the purebred herd sire, Runnin’ Sun at Bone Creek. Then the top side has the $38,000 high seller HF Weiser 25C and his dam, a second generation donor as well, Blackcap 296Y. In most instances there would be no way I would let this cow go, but to be brutally honest, this year we need the money. I thought that offering this whole flush as well as the dam carrying a calf from our new herdsire, Sitz Triumph would be a real attention getter.

3 bred heifers all from the Ellingson Three Rivers bull and all will have calves at side by SAV Triumph by sale time. 2 of the heifers are from the flush from 121G and the other is from an embryo dam from Barstow Cash and Blackcap 070. All 3 are super angular and as feminine as you’ll find. You will obviously see 121G at the sale so you’ll see what an opportunity 124L and 126L are. 104L is much the same being a new generation breeding piece with a priceless pedigree.

These half sisters are both tremendous breeding pieces. They are long and thick and with great hair coats. The calves at side are carrying SAV genetics of both America and Territory, and should pay for these heifers in the first year.
First cross angus/hereford heifers. We don’t keep any of these so they are our best. Bred June 21 - July 26 (one cycle) to easy calving black angus bulls. Preg checked safe in calf. This will be our last year with cross bred commerical heifers on offer.
