Hello Friends, Boise Pride Fest 2018 (BPF) has continued to grow and change over the years. As we look for new ways to share our message and give back to others in our community we have been focusing on three things: generosity, sustainability and responsibility. With the help of our generous sponsors and community partners we plan to continue to promote positive environments in our community where we can share, learn and embrace our unique differences as well as give back to those others that may not have the support needed. We hope to see you this June to celebrate 29 years of Pride. Join us in embracing diversity in all its shapes, sizes, forms and identities while celebrating what makes us different and learning what we all have in common. We are a group of volunteers ourselves. We are proud to be part of something with a strong history and support from our community. As we have gone out and met with hundreds of community members, partners, allies and sponsors of years past and many, many new ones, we have quickly learned that our little pride community has far more friends and allies than what it might seem. Our friends and allies are all around. They may not want fan fair or recognition but know they are there. With their generosity, we are taking Pride 365 and committing to not only reaching out to those groups who may not be represented but also to giving back and supporting our most valuable resource in our community – YOU! Not in more parties and festivals, but in service, partnerships, and financially supporting those in need. Boise Pride Fest is and can be more than just a 2 day festival. With the partners and allies we have on our side we can be a champion for the community and bring resources that we have not had at our disposal before. Pride does not consist of 2 days in the summer and is not owned by one person or group. It belongs to everyone, 365 days a year. Sincerely, The Pride Team

H I S TO RY

Together we’re growing Boise’s Rainbow Tree In Boise, Idaho in 1989 a small group of people started the roots of a yearly festival that celebrated the diversity of sexual orientations and identities. It was bold. The expectation for it to thrive was about the same as planting a seed on concrete. Yet, it grew into an annual blossom in the City of Trees and represents our best qualities and has helped promote Idaho’s special and diverse rainbow community for the past 29 years. While it’s easy to identify and judge our differences, we often look at the things we don’t understand about each other and build barriers around us. This year we want to encourage our friends, allies, partners and community to look at the beautiful differences in each other and share what makes us special and choose to serve and love this Pride Festival season. To help demonstrate Boise’s beautiful diverse rainbow we want you to come find our rainbow tree this year at the festival and share your unique color. Hand by hand we will build a Rainbow Tree that represents not only what we have in common, but what makes each of us special. 29 years ago the seed was planted. Help us make it grow.
