growing needs Due to increased mobility, there is an increased need for parking facilities. Companies, institutions, municipalities and project developers look for efficient and durable solutions to tackle the growing parking problems. Especially in busy urban areas, there is a growing need for new parking facilities. The advantage of parking facilities is that they can be completely or partially constructed underground and can offer an enormous capacity. That leaves more green space, which contributes to a good atmosphere. Better access and good parking facilities also contribute to the economy and image of cities, institutions and companies.

5
quality as basis The basis of all Bolidt systems consists of a thermosetting polymer-based synthetic material, a material developed by Bolidt with special characteristics that make it perfect for floor and wall finishings. Bolidt adjusts the composition of the synthetic formulation depending on the specific application, space and ambient conditions. After all, each space has it’s own specific requirements. For example, there are floor finishing systems for indoor parking decks, rooftop parking decks, lanes, parking bays, bends, extrance/ exit ramps, and ramps between levels. Bolidt flooring systems have a number of important features. Fluid During application, the synthetic material is fluid. Thanks to this, it can be applied seamlessly and a smooth surface is guaranteed. Impermeable The impermeable composition and the absence of seams make it impossible for liquids such as petrol, diesel, oil, grease, windscreen cleaner and water to seep through the surface and damage the construction. Penetration of de-icing salt is also impossible. This is a crucial feature because de-icing salt damages the construction floor and leads to corrosion of the reinforcing which is very difficult to repair.
Durable Bolidt does not supply floors, but floor systems. Each space in a parking facility gets its own floor system, tailored to the use of the space. By tailoring the system to its specific use, a long service life is guaranteed. New construction and renovation Bolidt supplies floor systems for both new constructions and renovations of parking facilities. Especially when renovating existing parking facilities, solid know-how and experience with various base layers are essential. Each phase of the renovation process is equally important and deserves the attention of specialised teams; sand blasting, sanding, treating cracks, levelling and the final application of the floor finish. Crack bridging and fire-resistant The floor of a parking deck directly exposed to the sun has to handle a relatively large ∆ Temp. This increases the chance of cracks forming in the concrete driving surface and parking decks, as well as the ramps. Specifically for parking decks, Bolidt has developed waterproof, crack-bridging, fire-resistant flooring systems that meet the highest requirements under the NEN-EN 1062-7* standard.
Low-maintenance Due to the optimal structure of the floor surface, maintenance and cleaning are very easy.

From heated ramps to water storing car decks The durable and slip resistant Bolidt systems are suitable for all surfaces in a parking facility. For ramps, there are wear resistant, no-slip solutions, possibly with integrated heating systems. For dry, closed spaces there are finishes with “anti-squeal” formula. For bends and wet zones there are extra slip resistant systems for even more grip. For car decks which are exposed to precipitation there are crack-bridging membrane systems with non-slip wearing layer. And for roofs above offices, houses or shops, Bolidt has Bolidrain®; a water-draining wearing layer which is applied on watertight bituminous or synthetic roofing.

functional and attractive When developing the synthetic floor systems, we tend to pay all attention to the functional requirements. Naturally, floors in parking garages need to be strong, slip resistant, durable and easy to clean and maintain. But in the course of the past years, the user experience has also become more important. That begins with a well-considered use of, among other things, music, illustrations, colours and aromas. In addition, the floors in parking garages are attractive and neat nowadays. With more than 50 years of experience, Bolidt is seamlessly keyed into this.
10
Functional under all conditions Specific qualities for floors in parking facilities are, among other things, crack bridging, chemical resistance, extra mechanical load resistance and antislip properties. Crack bridging prevents permeability. An extra layer thickness increases the mechanical load resistance, for example on ramps and in bends. Resistance to the penetration of chemicals such as fuels and lubricants is important
for the environment and for ease of cleaning. A good non-slip finishing is essential for safety under adverse weather conditions. Unlimited design options The user experience is increasingly a key aspect in both new constructions and renovations of parking facilities. Bolidt likes to share ideas with clients on this, and demonstrates to them how users can feel more comfortable and safe. A myriad of options is available for this. Think, for example, of specific use of colours, signage and working with numbered parking spaces. The aesthetic options are endless. Minimal maintenance The Bolidt floor systems are known for their durability. The Bolidt floor systems are thus also low-maintenance. That does not only make a difference in the costs, but also ensures the optimal availability of the parking facility and minimal hindrance for the users.
low-maintenance and durable To evaluate an investment in floor systems for parking facilities properly, it is important to look beyond the initial investment. A lower initial investment is worth less if major costs soon follow for professional maintenance and expensive repairs. The service life must also be considered. Looking far ahead Concerning maintenance and maintenance costs of synthetic floor systems, Bolidt dares to look far ahead. Bolidt takes that (financial) responsibility which fits the extremely long service life of both the floor and the signage which Bolidt supplies. If you want certainty beforehand concerning your total investment, choose
a maintenance contract. This contract guarantees you do not have to worry about your floor systems for 15 years and includes an annual inspection by Bolidt. Bolidt has various models which offer insight into the expected maintenance costs. Key variables for this include the amount of traffic, the routing and the choice of system. Investing in future generations All materials which Bolidt uses for floor systems are carefully selected. Bolidt pays a lot of attention to the use, consumption and re-use of reproduced materials. The materials are free of chemical solvents and are completely used when they are applied. Even after their long service life, the Bolidt

products are suitable for re-use. Bolidt takes their responsibility and continues to invest in sustainable products and processes. Because in this way we invest in the generations after us. Responsible products Since foundation in 1964, Bolidt makes maximal use of natural, non-rare raw materials. The principle in this is that the functionality of their systems is completely guaranteed. With regard to material usage, Bolidt meets the general emission criteria; The products do not contain solvents and there are no annoying smells during
application. This prevents problems with the environment and labour inspections, and possible resulting stagnation. Furthermore, all Bolidt floor systems are free of PVC and plasticisers. In addition to product development, Bolidt is innovative and trendsetting to accelerate the application of their synthetic systems to make that more efficient and durable. Bolidt works according to the LEAN principle, a management philosophy aimed at eliminating waste and matters without added value. A continual process which is applicable in all parts of the company.

for each space a specific application Ramp outside The access to the parking facility, the ramp, takes quite a beating. The floor surface is exposed to rain, frost and other weather conditions. Aggressive materials such as de-icing salt are driven inside from the public roads. Given the wet Dutch climate, an extremely slip resistant wearing layer according to NEN 2443 is needed. Due to the slope, the mechanical loading is very high. Because repairs to ramps impede the access, Bolidt advises a very durable and resistant wearing layer. An optional heating system guarantees the access of the parking facility during the entire year. This system is applied directly under the wearing layer and heats the ramp within a short time. The road surface is kept free of snow or sleet, preventing unsafe situations.
16
Ramp inside Indoor ramps are heavily loaded because cars drive at an angle, break and accelerate. For this reason, the floor finish must be very wear resistant and slip resistant. A good and easy to clean surface contributes to a fresh and clean appearance.
Lane at barrier The lane before, under and behind the barrier at a parking facility also take a beating. Due to cars continually stopping and accelerating, the loading is extreme. That requires extra attention for the floor system. Lane Parking facilities consist partly of lanes which lead the cars to the parking spots. Safety is of primary importance here. The lanes need to be slightly slip resistant to prevent skidding. Locations which need extra attention are slightly sloping ramps, bends and wet zones. The floor should be anti-slip and should prevent squealing tyres. High wear resistance is essential and to maintain a fresh appearance the floor needs to be easy to clean. A light colour creates an accessible and friendly impression. Parking zone Approximately two thirds of the surface of a parking deck is parking spaces. The spaces can be indicated with coloured lines or contrasting coloured surfaces. This is where the feeling of safety begins.
As soon as users leave their cars, a light colour can contribute to this. The colour layers must also be wear resistant and easy to clean. A proper impermeability and chemical resistance are essential. Leaking fuel, lubricating oil and other liquids cannot penetrate, damage or contaminate the under layer. Parking deck Both the top parking layer and the open intermediate layers in a parking facility can be considered to be parking decks. These decks are exposed to intense weather influences such as rain and frost. The top parking deck suffers the most, but the intermediate layers are also exposed due to the open sides. Durable and slip resistant wearing layers are needed here. Cracks can be combated with elastic and watertight membrane systems (according to NEN 1928) with crack bridging properties (according to NEN 1062-7). These bridge existing or new cracks, without tearing and allowing liquids through. Parking roof A parking roof is a parking layer on top of functional spaces such as offices, houses or shops. Parking roofs have exceptional additional requirements, such as heat insulation and a reduction of contact noise. Complete watertightness is crucial here. Specifically for parking roofs, Bolidt has developed a draining wearing layer which can be applied as a water-storing driving layer on a bituminous water resistant layer. Porter’s lodge In the porter’s loge, the parking facility employees spend most of the day. The floor is heavily used due to the employees
walking on it. Furthermore, the floor is loaded extra through the use of rolling office chairs. Simple cleaning is essential for this space. Entry The ticket machines of a parking facility are usually situated in the entry zone. A clean and light space contributes here to a feeling of safety. Colour and texture are very important. From a functional perspective, high wear resistance, a good anti-slip function and good cleanability are essential. The entry zone is heavily loaded and dirt is constantly introduced from outside. Access points In stairways, lift lobbies and on landings, a cleaner floor makes a neat impression. The floor finish must therefore be easy to clean properly. Together with the entry zone, these access points determine the users’ impression. Bolidt has an extensive assortment of floor systems which are suitable for intensive walking traffic. Toilets Clean and well-lit toilets in parking facilities give the users a pleasant and safe feeling. Colour and texture can contribute to this. From a functional perspective, a good anti-slip function and good cleanability are essential. This is created, among other things, by applying a durable, easy to clean coved skirting. This ensures that the wall and floor join neatly and dirty corners and edges are avoided. The Bolidt floor systems are also urine resistant.
